Yu-Gi-Oh! Battle of the Heavens Episode 78: “The Storm Breaks, Part 1”
Greg stood on the Duelist Academy roof, looking at his deck. We’re finally ready, my friends. He thought. We have faced numerous challenges to get to this point. Now, it’s all or nothing. There’s no going back. Are you guys with me? He heard a chorus of cries coming from the cards. Grinning, he slipped them into his duel disk. Suddenly, he felt a hand on his shoulder and caught a whiff of perfume. Grinning he reached over and grasped the hand. “Hi hon” Violet kissed his cheek. Turning around, Greg saw that she wasn’t alone: Standing with her were Jaden, Kai, Chazz, Tyranno, Mars, Syrus, Alexis, Rose, and Joe. Greg grinned. “What are you all doing here?” Jaden put his hands on his hips. “Why else? To see you off!” Greg sighed. “It’s time, then?” Violet shook her head. “Not yet”. She took out her deck and the others followed suit. Greg raised his eyebrows. “What…?” Violet took out a card and handed it to Greg. “Take us with you” Greg took the card and smiled: it was Tyuratin, the card he gave her while they were in the forest several years ago. Looking at her, he said. “Alright.” Jaden next came forward and handed him Elemental Hero Prisma. “This card will save your butt if you need a Fusion.” He explained. Next was Joe. “Here,” he said, handing Greg Elemental Hero Neos. Seeing Greg’s puzzled look, he said. “Look at Johan’s card.” Greg nodded and took the card from Johan and gasped. “No way…” he breathed. “Johan…” The blue-haired boy grinned and flashed Jaden’s winning pose. “Go get ‘em, buddy!” Kai walked up and gave a card next. “It probably won’t help you, but who knows?’ Greg looked at Magician’s Valkyria and then back at Kai. “Kai, it doesn’t matter if the card is useless. This keep has part of you in it. That means that you’re with me wherever I go. That’s all that matters” Kai nodded and stepped aside, and Syrus stepped forward. “Here” he said, handing him Drillroid. “Use it to go on the attack” Next up was Alexis. “Double Passé is a difficult card to use” She said, handing it to him. “But it could save your monster, or even win the game for you.” Chazz handed his card next: Ojama Yellow. “Just don’t lose” he said as he stepped to the side. Rose handed Greg Treeborn Frog. “A recurring defense” she explained while squeezing his hand. “Take him down Greg!” Mars walked up and gave him Fire Wall. “Good to have if you need a defense” Greg grinned. “Why does everyone think I need a defense?” Mars stared back seriously. “Because you need it” Greg nodded and watched Tyranno come up and hand him Hyper Hammerhead. “This could save your bacon if Overdragon’s out” he said. “Be careful, soldier” Greg saluted in return. “Yes, sir” Violet placed at hand on his shoulder. “We’re all with you Greg. Beat Hell Kaiser. Bring everyone home” Greg nodded and stared at his friends. “What have I done to deserve you guys?” Johan grinned. “Nothing much…” “You’ve just saved the world a few times” Jaden finished. Greg shuffled the new cards into his deck. “Now its time to save it one last time”

Before going to the arena, Greg stopped at the hospital. He stopped on front of the beds and stared at the forms of Sophia, Christy, Zane, and Aster. “This is it” he said, looking at each of them in turn. “Today, I’m taking on Hell Kaiser. I will bring all you back. I promise.” Suddenly, small flashes of light lit up the nightstands next to the beds. Walking over, he saw cards on them: Cyber Dragon for Zane, Destiny Hero Doom Lord for Aster, Blue Eyes White Dragon for Sophia and for Christy…Mausoleum of the Emperor. Greg picked up the three cards, with tears in his eyes. Guys… He shuffled the cards into his deck, and bowed his head. Unnoticed to him, spirit versions of Violet, Christy, Zane, Syrus, Sophia, Aster, Joe, Rose, Jaden, Alexis, Kai, Johan, Mars, Chazz, and Tyranno appeared behind him. With you by my side… Greg clinched his right hand. I will defeat Hell Kaiser. Unnoticed by him, a tear fell from his face, hit the floor…and the spirits behind him vanished.

15 minutes later… “Attention ladies and gentlemen!” Jaden called out. “Welcome to the final match of the Duelist Academy Grand Championship! Today, we have gathered to see the duel between Hell Kaiser and Gregory Henry. The winner will receive the Grand Championship Crown and the title of the King of Games!” Greg, clad in the torture bands, stared at the black trench coat-wearing villain across from him. “Scared?” Hell Kaiser, who likewise was wearing his devices, grinned as he shuffled his deck and slipped it into his duel disk. “I should be asking that of you” Greg activated his duel disk. “Your reign of terror is OVER Hell Kaiser!” Hell Kaiser activated his disk as well. “No, it’s just begun. As one, the two men roared, “LET’S DUEL!!”
Greg – 8000 Hell Kaiser – 8000
The two duelists drew five cards. Hell Kaiser had Infernal Dragon, Overload Fusion, Graceful Charity, Cyber Phoenix, and Proto-Cyber Dragon. Greg looked at his hand and smiled. Cyber Dragon, Drillroid, Polymerization, Fake Hero, and Negate Attack. He thought. Guys… Hell Kaiser drew his card. (Dimension Explosion) “I summon Infernal Dragon in DEF mode. (0 DEF) “ In a flash the dark-armored dragon appeared on the field with his wings folded over himself. “I end my turn.” Greg drew his next card. (Dandelion) “Since you have a monster and I don’t…CYBER DRAGON, COME FORTH!” Greg cried to the skies. In a blaze of blue electricity, Zane’s metal silver dragon appeared behind Greg. “Next, I’ll Normal Summon Drillroid!” Greg said, slapping the said card on his disk. In a flash, the cartoon-like vehicle with a drill nose and dual drill arms appeared. “Drillroid, attack Infernal Dragon!” Greg commanded, pointing at Hell Kaiser’s monster. Drillroid drove forward and plunged his arms in the dragon, making it explode. “Cyber Dragon, direct attack!” Greg yelled. “Evolution Burst!” Cyber Dragon opened its mouth as unleashed a stream of blue electricity at Hell Kaiser, causing him to fall to one knee, red sparks coming off his body.
Greg – 8000 Hell Kaiser – 5900
“I set one card facedown (Negate Attack) and end my turn” Greg finished Panting, Hell Kaiser drew his next card. (Cyber Dragon) “To start things off, I’ll copy you and throw out a Cyber Dragon! (2100 ATK)” In a flash, the metallic dragon was in front of Hell Kaiser. “Now I activate Graceful Charity to draw three cards (Cyber Laser Dragon, Cyber Barrier Dragon, and Future Fusion) and discard two (Cyber Laser Dragon and Cyber Barrier Dragon). Next, I’ll activate Future Fusion! By sending Cyberdark Horn, Cyberdark Keel, and Cyberdark Edge to the grave, I can summon Cyberdark Dragon in two turns! But I’m ending this now!” Greg cringed. No… “I activate Overload Fusion!” Hell Kaiser announced, holding the card up. “I remove Cyber Dragon and the five machines in my graveyard from the game to summon CHIMERATECH OVERDRAGON!” In a storm of red electricity, the 6-headed mechanical dragon emerged. “His attack is equal to the number of Fusion material monster used to summon him times 800, and I count 6! (4800 ATK) Furthermore, he can attack 6 times!” Greg scowled. I’m not losing like this! “CHIMERATECH OVERDRAGON, ATTACK HIS MONSTERS!” Hell Kaiser roared. “INFINITIE STRIDENT BLAZE!” Two of the heads opened their mouths and unleashed blue blasts of electricity, blowing apart Greg’s monsters and causing him to feel the pain of the bands. Is this was Sophia felt? He wondered as the intense pain caused him to fall to his knees, his eyes watering.
Greg – 2100 Hell Kaiser – 5900
Hell Kaiser smirked. “Farewell, Mr. Henry…CHIMERATECH OVERDRAGON, INFINITE STRIDENT BLAZE!” The four other heads unleashed their blasts of lightning, aiming at the kneeling figure… Only to have them deflected by the purple shield that erupted in their path. Greg grinned. “I activated Negate Attack, which stops your attack and ends the battle phase.” Hell Kaiser narrowed his eyes. “I end my turn” Greg, rising shakily to his feet, drew his next card. (Pot of Greed) “I activate Pot of Greed to draw two more cards (Smashing Ground and Monster Reborn). Now I activate Smashing Ground to destroy your monster!” In a massive explosion, the multi-headed dragon was destroyed. “Next, I activate Monster Reborn to bring back Cyber Dragon!” In a flash of light, the metal dragon reappeared on the field. “Next I’ll sacrifice him to summon Elemental Hero Prisma!” In a flash, the hero with a crystal body and wings appeared on the field. “Next, I activate Fake Hero to summon Elemental Hero Neos!” In another flash, the famous silver-bodied hero with red eyes and blades coming out of his arms and a blue orb in the middle of his chest appeared. “Next, I’ll activate the ability of Prisma! By discarding one card from my deck, Prisma can become that monster until the end of turn!” As Greg discarded the card, Prisma’s body began glowing and enlarging. It rose high into the sky and began thing out. In a flash of light, a familiar white, gem-studded dragon was in Prisma’s place… Greg narrowed his eyes. “Hell Kaiser, let me introduce you to someone…RAINBOW DRAGON!” Hell Kaiser took a step back. “No…It can’t be!” “But I’m not done!” Greg continued. “I activate Polymerization! I fuse my two monsters together to form the ultimate bond of friendship!” Greg watched as the dragon and the hero flew into the sky. Joe…Jaden…Johan…thank you… In a flash, the two monsters began to swirl together. Greg smiled. “COME ON OUT, RAINBOW NEOS! (4500 ATK)” The monster that crashed down in front of Greg was a marvelous sight: it looked like Neos, except that it was studded with jewels and had white scales covering its whole body. Its head was similar to Rainbow Dragon’s, expect that red eyes gleamed from its sockets. Also, magnificent white wings spread out from behind its back. Greg narrowed his eyes. “RAINBOW NEOS, DIRECT ATTACK! UNIVERSAL RAINBOW BLAST!” The huge monster cupped its hand together and unleashed a strand of rainbow energy towards Hell Kaiser. When it hit him and activated the bands, Hell Kaiser screamed and fell to all fours.
Greg – 2100 Hell Kaiser – 1400
Greg folded his arms. “I end my turn” Panting, Hell Kaiser drew his card while still on his knees. (Negate Attack) “I set my draw card facedown and end my turn” Greg drew his next card. When he looked at it, he was confused. Pot of Souls? He wondered, reading the card. I don’t have that card. Looking down the card, he scanned the rules text. Huh, no effect. He mused. It only says ‘Only by the ultimate sacrifice can the ultimate power be unleashed.’ Oh well… Looking up, Greg grinned. “See ya Hell Kaiser…or not. Rainbow Neos, finish this!” Greg’s monster unleashed one final blast of energy from his hands… “I activate Negate Attack!” Hell Kaiser rasped. Instantly, a purple shield appeared and absorbed the damage. Greg narrowed his eyes. “I end my turn” Hell Kaiser drew his next card, this time from his feet. (Burial from the Different Dimension) “Since two turns have elapsed, Future Fusion activates. Come out, Cyberdark Dragon!” In a blaze of electricity, the spiky dark, metallic dragon appeared on the field. (1000 ATK) “Now I activate its ability and equipped it with Infernal Dragon, increasing it’s attack by 2000! (1000 à 3000 ATK) Now I activate Limiter Removal, doubling its attack! (3000 à 6000 ATK) Now my dragon, attack Rainbow Neos! Full Darkness Blast!” The dragon opened its maw and unleashed black-red electricity, blowing apart Greg’s monster and sending him to his knees, his eyes watering and his body getting attacked by red volts of lightning.
Greg – 600 Hell Kaiser – 1400
“I end my turn, and Limiter Removal’s drawback kicks in.” Hell Kaiser said. “It normally would destroy Cyberdark Dragon, but I can just sacrifice Infernal Dragon instead thanks to Cyberdark Dragon’s ability. (6000 à 1000 ATK)” Greg struggled to his feet and drew his next card. (Heated Heart) Blast it. He thought. How am I going to win? Use the card. Greg looked at his hand, and his eyes fell upon Pot of Souls. This one…? Suddenly, Violet—in spirit form—appeared. Yes Greg. That one. It has to be. Greg looked at her. What will happen? Violet sighed. By removing the cards we gave you from the game, you can draw that many cards. But… Greg eyes widened. NO!!! I WON’T DO IT!! You must! Violet pleaded. Please, for me! It’s the only way! Greg stared at his right hand, and clenched it. I…can’t… Violet’s ghostly hand cupped his face. You must… Greg squeezed his eyes shut…and pulled the card from his hand. Hell Kaiser raised an eyebrow. “Well?” Greg bowed his head. “I activate Pot of Souls” he said. Looking up, he saw spiritual versions of his friends in front of him. Symbols of their souls… “With this card I can remove any number of cards from anywhere from the game to draw that many cards by discarding my hand.” Greg murmured. “I remove Tyuratin, Blue Eyes White Dragon, Mausoleum of the Emperor, Treeborn Frog, Elemental Hero Prismer, Fire Wall, Double Passé, Rainbow Dragon, Elemental Hero Neos, Destiny Hero Doom Lord, Hyper Hammerhead, Ojama Yellow, Cyber Dragon, Drillroid, and Magician’s Valkyria from the game…” Greg’s eyes filled with tears, for as he said each name, his friend’s images went out one by one right before his eyes. “…to draw 15 cards.” As he did the 15 for one trade, he fell to his knees, tears streaming down his face. Guys…I’m sorry… As he wept, he thought he heard Violet’s distant voice screaming his name. Raising his head to the sky, he unleashed a primal roar—one filled with grief, despair, terror, and anger—that shook the very sky. “VIOLET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
