Episode 62: “Enter the Dragon’s Lair”
The stadium was jammed packed. Everywhere Greg looked there was a fan waving a banner in the air…which mostly were the “Marry me Kaiba!” fanatics.
He was in the top box in the newly built Academy Stadium that was on Duelist Academy Island. Standing with him was the rest of Team Evolution: Violet, Johan, Kai, Chazz, Bastion, Jaden, Violet, Tyranno, Mars, Alexis, Atticus, Joe, Rose, Zane, and Christy. They were all here to cheer on Sophia in her match against Seto Kaiba, teenage rich kid and third best duelist in the world.
Greg turned to Sophia’s boyfriend Kai. “What do you think?”
Kai gave a small grin. “I think Kaiba has bitten off more than he can chew. Both Sophia and I know his deck. It should be cakewalk for her”
How does he know Kaiba’s deck? Greg wondered, but he pushed the matter aside: the duel was about to start.
Down below in the arena, Sophia glared at Kaiba. “You’ve got some paying up to do rich kid”
Kaiba tried to look innocent…and failed miserably. “For what?”
“For that tag team duel years back” Sophia snarled as her disk snapped into position and she slammed her deck in.
“Oh yes, that” Kaiba replied softly. “I just did what I had to do. I had to prove I was the true Dragon Master”
Sophia snorted. “I think that the only thing you’re a master of Kaiba is whining.”
Kaiba’s eyes glinted dangerously. “Well let’s see then, shall we? Who the true Dragon Master? Me or you?”
“Get you game on and you’ll find out”
“Fine then!” Kaiba activated his white duel disk and placed his deck in. “Let’s Duel!”
Sophia – 8000 Kaiba – 8000
Each duelist drew five cards. Sophia had Threatening Roar, Luster Dragon, Quick Summon, Negate Attack, and another Luster Dragon. Kaiba had 3 Blue Eyes White Dragons, and 2 Flute of Summoning Dragons.
“My move!” Sophia called out. “Draw! (Wingbeat of Giant Dragon) I summon Luster Dragon in DEF mode! I then set one card facedown (Threatening Roar) and end my turn”
Kaiba drew his next card. (Pot of Greed) “I activate Pot of Greed so I can draw two more cards (Lord of D and Luster Dragon #2). I now summon Lord of D in DEF mode! (1200 DEF) I now activate 2 Flutes of Summoning Dragon to summon 4 Dragons to the field. Rise my Blue Eyes White Dragons and Luster Dragon #2! (BEWD: 3000 ATK, LD: 2500 ATK)”
“Activate Threatening Roar!” Sophia cried. “You can’t attack me this turn!”
Kaiba nodded, indicating that it was her turn.
Sophia drew her next card. (Tyrant Dragon) “I summon another Luster Dragon! I now activate Quick Summon so I can summon another monster this turn, so I sacrifice my two monsters to summon my Tyrant Dragon! (2900 ATK) He can deal damage through DEF position monsters and he can attack twice! Tyrant Dragon, destroy Lord of D and Luster Dragon!”
Sophia – 8000 Kaiba – 5900
“I set one card facedown (Negate Attack) and end my turn”
Kaiba drew his next card. (Graceful Charity) “I activate Graceful Charity! This lets me draw three cards (Instant Fusion, Spear Dragon, and Different Dimension Dragon) and discard two (Spear Dragon and Different Dimension Dragon). Now Blue Eyes White Dragon, destroy Tyrant Dragon with White Lightning Attack!”
Sophia – 7900 Kaiba – 5900
“Now my Dragons, attack her directly!”
Sophia – 1900 Kaiba – 5900
“I now activate Instant Fusion! I send my three Dragons to the grave to summon the one, the only…BLUE EYES ULTIMATE DRAGON! (4500 ATK) ATTACK HER NOW AND FINISH HER OFF!”
“No way!” Violet cried.
Greg jumped to his feet. “It’s already over?!”
“Impossible!” Zane said. “She can’t be done!”
“She’s not” Kai said quietly. He was the only one who wasn’t freaking out.
“What do you mean?” demanded Johan.
Kai gave a small smile. “Watch”
Back on the field, Kaiba’s dragon had just unleashed its attack and Sophia’s doomed was speeding ever nearer…
“I activate Negate Attack!” cried Sophia, activating her facedown. “This stops your attack and ends your turn!”
Sophia drew her next card. (Pot of Greed) “I activate Pot of Greed! This lets me draw two new cards (Future Fusion and Card of Sanctity). I now activate Card of Sanctity! We each draw card until we have six cards in our hands. (Sophia: Dragon’s Mirror, Black Luster Soldier, Burial from a Different Dimension, Dragon’s Treasure, and De-Fusion. Kaiba: Vorse Raider, Y-Dragon Head, Soul Exchange, Mystical Space Typhoon, and Negate Attack) I now activate my Future Fusion! I send my three Blue Eyes White Dragons, White Horned Dragon and Chaos Emperor Dragon from my deck to the grave so I can summon a monster two turns from now. I now activate Dragon’s Mirror! I remove my three Blue Eyes from play to summon my Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon! I now activate my Dragon’s Treasure! This increases my Dragon’s ATK by 300! (4800 ATK) Now my monster, attack with Neutron Blast!”
Sophia – 1900 Kaiba – 5600
Kaiba drew his next card. (Monster Reborn) “I activate Monster Reborn! Come back Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon! I now activate Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy your Equip Spell and now I attack! Destroy her dragon with Neutron Blast!
“Hold it Kaiba!’ Sophia called out. “I activate De-Fusion! This splits your Dragon into its three separate parts and negates your attack!”
Sophia drew her next card. (Graceful Charity) “First, I activate my Burial from a Different Dimension to bring my three Dragons back to the grave. I now activate Graceful Charity! This lets me draw three cards (Monster Reborn, Black Luster Ritual, and Instant Fusion) and discard two (Black Luster Soldier and Black Luster Ritual). I now activate Monster Reborn! Come back Black Luster Soldier! (3000 ATK) Now Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon, Destroy one of his Dragons! Neutron Blast!”
Sophia – 1900 Kaiba – 4100
“But hold on! I activate Instant Fusion! I fuse Black Luster Soldier and Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon together to summon my favorite monster: ULTIMATE DRAGON RIDER! (5000 ATK) And he gains 500 extra ATK for every Dragon on the field. (6500 ATK) ULTIMATE DRAGON RIDER, DESTROY HIS BLUE EYES WHITE DRAGON WITH SOUL OF DRAGON SLASH! (UDR: 6000 ATK)”
Sophia – 1900 Kaiba – 600
“But Kaiba…one last thing. Future Fusion kicks in right now! So meet the monster of your destruction: FIVE HEADED DRAGON! (5000 ATK)”
“NO WAY!!!” everyone (except Kai) in the Team Evolution box cried out.
“IMPOSSIBLE!!” Kaiba cried, taking a step back.
“POSSIBLE! FIVE HEADED DRAGON, DESTROY HIS DRAGON WITH DRAGON BLAST!”
Each of Sophia’s monster’s five heads reared, a ball of energy forming between them. As one they unleashed the energy, which crashed into Kaiba’s monster, destroying it.
Sophia – 1900 Kaiba – 0
“And the winner is…SOPHIA!” called out Jaden, who was commentating. ‘That’s it for this game folks!”
As the holograms disappeared. Sophia walked over to Kaiba and looked down at him.
“Revenge is sweet…” she muttered. “But respect and fun in even better” And with that, she bent down, helped Kaiba to his feet, and lead him off the field. “Great duel, rich kid”
