Episode 73: “Return to Neo Space”
“What did I miss?”
Sophia and Violet turned and looked at Greg as he stepped onto the observation deck. “WHERE THE ______ HECK HAVE YOU BEEN?!” Sophia demanded loudly.
Greg rolled his eyes at Violet, who smirked. “Somewhere”
Sophia glared.
Greg sighed. “Fine. I was by a cliff and I dueled Syrus and won. Happy?”
“No she isn’t” Violet said before Sophia could reply. “Her boyfriend got his face pounded in by Aster”
“Shut it” Kai muttered.
Greg visibly sagged. “You mean…I MISSED AN AWESOME DUEL?!”
Violet nodded.
Greg took a deep breath. “Okay, fine…who’s next?”
“Joe and Tyranno”
“GGGGGGGGGAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!”

“Okay folks!” Jaden called out. “We have—”
“Out of the way Jay” Tyranno said, shoving his friend aside.
“Yeah, no stupid preambles this time” Joe added. As he and Tyranno stepped onto the arena. “Let’s just get this over with”
Please! Greg pleaded silently as he sat between Sophia and Violet on the observation deck.
The two duelists lightning-shuffled their decks, put them into their duel disks, and activated them. “LET’S DUEL!”
Tyranno – 8000 Joe – 8000
The two duelists drew five cards. Joe had Elemental Hero Neos, Neo Spacian Air Hummingbird, Instant Contact, Solemn Judgment, and Neo Space. Tyranno had Sabersaurus, Gilasaurus, Cost Down, Black Tyranno, and Super Conductor Tyranno. After a friendly game of rock, paper, scissors, Joe went first.
Joe drew his opening card silently. (Hero Barrier) “I summon Neo Spacian Air Hummingbird to the field!” The alien bird that had recently materialized flapped his wings and flew over to Tyranno, whose card hand became a bunch of flowers. Hummingbird began sucking their nectar eagerly.
Tyranno smiled fondly. “Hummingbird’s special ability?”
Joe nodded. “Yep. I now gain 400 LP for every card in your hand, increasing my LP by 2000.”
Tyranno – 8000 Joe – 10000
“Now I set three cards facedown (Hero Barrier, Solemn Judgment, and Instant Contact), activate Neo Space, and end my turn.” Joe finished as the multi-colored lights of Neo Space surrounded the arena.
Tyranno drew his next card. (Ultimate Tyranno) “I now Special Summon Gilasaurus to the field!” The brownish raptor appeared in front of Tyranno. “Normally you could Special Summon a monster, but since no monsters are in your grave, the bonus ability doesn’t apply. Now I activate Cost Down! By discarding my Ultimate Tyranno, I can lower the levels of all the monsters in my hand by two!”
“They would if I didn’t do this!” Joe called out. “I activate Solemn Judgment and chain that with Instant Contact! Instant Contact lets me take the cards listened on a Neos fusion, send them to the graveyard, and summon that fusion so I’ll send Neos and Air Hummingbird to the grave to summon my Elemental Hero Air Neos! (2500 ATK)”
Joe’s new fusion looked like Neos, except he was red and had wings on his back and his face was sorta shaped like a beak.
“Solemn Judgment, on the other hand, let’s me pay half my LP to negate one card, so your Cost Down just got cancelled!” Joe called out.
Tyranno – 8000 Joe – 5000
“Now my Air Neos’ ability kicks in!” Joe exclaimed. “Since you have more LP than me, my monster gains ATK difference! (5500 ATK) And my Neo Space gives it an extra 500 ATK, giving it 6000 ATK!” Joe smirked. “Anything else you want to do?”
Tyranno just shook his head. “Your turn”
Joe drew his next card. (Pot of Greed) “I activate Pot of Greed to draw two cards (Contact Shuffle and Contact Wave). I now activate Contact Shuffle! This Spell card allows me to take cards in my graveyard that were sent there as a result of Contact Fusion and add them to my deck. Now I activate Contact Wave! This Spell activates when monsters are shuffled into my deck. Now I can summon monsters from my deck by paying 500 LP per monster, so rise Elemental Hero Neos, Neo Spacian Air Hummingbird, and Neo Spacian Aqua Dolphin!”
Tyranno – 8000 Joe – 3500
Joe punched the air with his fist. “Now go Contact Fusion! I send Neos, Aqua Dolphin, and Air Hummingbird back to my deck to summon Elemental Hero Storm Neos! (3000 ATK)”
Tyranno stared as Neos flew into the air with its two comrades. “Bye-bye Neos!” He waved.
Team Evolution sweatdropped. “What was that about?” Greg asked.
Chazz sniggered. “He’s got Neos on the brain”
But before Neos vanished, Tyranno heard him say “I’m proud of the warrior you have become” Then the three monsters fused together.
The monster that had been created looked like Air Neos, except it was blue and the armor was spiky. He also had long claws and half his feathers were blue.
“Now Air Neos ATK increases because the difference has become larger, exactly 4500 points larger. (7500 ATK)” Joe said. “And my Storm Neos gains 500 ATK due to Neo Space.”
Greg rolled his eyes and hollered. “DON’T YOU DARE DO ANY MALE POSTURING JOE! I WOULD LIKE THE SEMIFINALS TO START SOMETIME THIS CENTURY!”
“Okay, okay…” Joe replied. “Sheesh…anyway, Air Neos, destroy Gilasaurus! Wind Feather Cascade!”
Air Neos leapt into the air and unleashed razor-sharp feathers at the poor dino, slashing it to bits in seconds.
Tyranno – 1900 Joe – 3500
“Storm Neos, finish this with a direct attack! Hurricane Claw Slash!”
The other monster leapt into the air as well and dive-bombed Tyranno, slashing him across his chest and knocking him off his feet.
Joe grinned. “Game Over”
Tyranno – 0 Joe – 3500
Tyranno got to his feet and grinned. “Thanks for the duel man. It was a blast to visit Neo Space again.”
“Sure.” Joe replied. “Any…hold on, what do you mean again?!”
Tyranno just gave a thumbs up and walked away, leaving Joe standing on the arena, puzzling over Tyranno’s comment.
