Episode 75: “It’s All About Respect”
Sophia Broman stood in the tunnel leading towards the arena, waiting to be allowed in to finish the semifinals.
Her opponent? Just the last mega-villain on the planet.
Sophia took out her deck and looked at it. Yep, everything’s set, she thought. Suddenly, her eyes fell on her Ultimate Dragon Rider, her signature card.
This is it, big guy, she thought. The big one. And we’re going to win!
Suddenly, a gong sounded. The signal for her to walk into the arena.
Sophia put her deck in the deck box that hung on her waist, and walked out into the arena.

Up on the Duelist Academy roof, Gregory Henry sighed. He too heard the bell ring. His cousin, his last remaining family member, was getting ready to duel Hell Kaiser, the final villain Team Evolution had to face.
“And if she fails? Asked a voice.
Greg turned and saw the spirit of Dartz, his father, leaning against a wall. “She won’t fail, Father.” He said. “I trust her to win”
“What about Christy?” Dartz asked. “What about Zane? You trusted them, and they didn’t beat Hell Kaiser. What if she loses?”
Greg bowed his head. When he raised it, his eyes glowed with green, purple, and orange lights. Suddenly, spiritual versions of his Elemental Heroes appeared behind him. “In that case, then it’ll get personal. And if it does…” Here, Greg raised his duel disk arm to the sky, and green, orange, and purple lightning fell from it and nailed his deck, making it glow with power. “Hell Kaiser will go back to Hell, where he belongs”

10 minutes later, Greg arrived at the observation deck. “How is she?” he asked Johan when he sat down.
“She’s ready and raring to go” he replied.
Greg looked at Sophia, who waved at him. He gave a thumbs up in return.
“Let’s hope she wins” Violet said.
Greg looked at her. “She will”
“Alright ladies and gentlemen!” Jaden called. “It’s time for the final match of the semifinals! The duelists? Sophia Broman and Hell Kaiser!”
Sophia and Hell Kaiser entered and ascended the duel platform. Sophia took out her deck and bean to shuffle it, not saying a word.
Hell Kaiser smirked as he copied her. “Why the silent treatment Sophia?”
Sophia glared as she slammed her deck into duel disk. “I don’t talk to evil jerks.”
Hell Kaiser laughed as he slid his deck into his disk. “Make all the insults you want. When you fall, nobody will stand in my way!”
Sophia grinned. “Don’t count your cards before they’re drawn! You have to get through me first!”
Hell Kaiser laughed. “Well then, let’s go!” He tossed his shockers to Sophia, who strapped them on grimly. Then they both activated their duel disks.
“LET’S DUEL!”
Hell Kaiser – 8000 Sophia – 8000
The two duelists drew five card each. Sophia had Luster Dragon, Mystical Space Typhoon, Kaibaman, Spell Guard, and Negate Attack. Hell Kaiser had Axe Dragonite, Cyberdark Horn, Cyberdark Edge, Cyberdark Keel, and Limiter Removal.
“Ladies first” Hell Kaiser said mockingly.
Sophia drew her opening card grimly. (Graceful Charity) “I’ll summon Luster Dragon in ATK mode! (1900 ATK)” Sophia’s dragon was blue and covered in sapphires. “I’ll then set one card facedown (Spell Guard) and end my turn.”
Hell Kaiser drew his card. (Future Fusion) “I summon Axe Dragonite in ATK mode! (2000 ATK)” The axe-wielding dragon had black wings and wore black battle armor. “Now my dragon, destroy Luster Dragon! Dragon Axe Smash!”
Axe Dragonite flew towards Sophia’s monster, axe raised. When it drew near, the axe came down, cutting Luster Dragon in half and activating the bands, sending red electricity coursing through Sophia’s body. It didn’t hurt…that much.
Hell Kaiser – 8000 Sophia – 7900
“After it attacks, my Axe Dragonite is switched to DEF mode (1200 DEF).” Hell Kaiser explained. “I end my turn.”
Sophia drew her next card. (Blue Eyes White Dragon) “I activate Graceful Charity! I draw three cards (Monster Reborn, Darkblaze Dragon, and Felgrand Dragon) and discard two (Darkblaze and Felgrand Dragons). Now I summon Kaibaman to the field. But now, I’ll sacrifice him to summon my Blue Eyes White Dragon! (3000 ATK)”
In a flash, the Seto Kaiba-look alike vanished and in its place stood the white dragon with blue eyes, its teeth bared.
Sophia grinned. “But that’s not all. I activate Monster Reborn to bring back Felgrand Dragon! (2800 ATK)”
Sophia’s dragon was gold all over. Its wings glittered. And silver armored protected its chest.
“Since my dragon was revived from the graveyard, its ability activates!” Sophia announced. “It’s ATK is increased by 200 for every level star on my Darkblaze Dragon, which is 1400! (2800 à 4200 ATK)”
Greg grinned. Hell Kaiser, you’re in for a world of hurt.
“Blue Eyes White Dragon, obliterate his dragon!” Sophia yelled. “White Lightning Attack!”
The large dragon reared its head and unleashed a volley of white lightning bolts from its maw, destroying Axe Dragonite in seconds.
“Felgrand Dragon, it’s your turn to attack!” Sophia called. “Attack him directly with Dragon Soul Blast!”
Felgrand Dragon opened its mouth and gathered a ball of gold lightning inside it. When it encompassed its mouth, the dragon reared its head and streams of gold lightning hit Hell Kaiser in the stomach. He fell to his need, shaking as red volts of pain shocked him.
Hell Kaiser – 3100 Sophia – 7900
Panting, Hell Kaiser rose to his feet and drew his next card. (Pot of Greed) “Right. I’ve tried being nice with you, but now I’m going all out! I activate Pot of Greed to draw two more cards! (Cyberdark Impact and Dark Hole) Now I activate Dark Hole to destroy all your monsters!” A dark portal opened up beneath Sophia’s monsters and sucked them in. “Now I activate Cyberdark Impact! I send Cyberdark Horn, Edge, and Keel back to my deck to summon CYBERDARK DRAGON! (1000 ATK)”
Behind Hell Kaiser rose his signature monster. It had the tail of Cyberdark Keel, the body and head of Cyberdark Horn, and the wings of Cyberdark Edge.
“Now his ability activates” Hell Kaiser hissed. “I can take my Axe Dragonite and equip it to my dragon, giving it an extra 2000 ATK points! (1000 à 3000 ATK) But now, I activate Limiter Removal! This doubles my dragon’s ATK power! (3000 à 6000 ATK) NOW MY DRAGON, DIRECT ATTACK! FULL DARKNESS BLAST!!!”
Cyberdark Dragon opened its maw and unleashed a torrent of black and red fire at Sophia. The attack hit her head on, triggering the bands. Red electricity assaulted her, making her cry out in pain and fall to her knees.
Hell Kaiser – 3100 Sophia – 1900
Hell Kaiser was smiling. “I now begin my Second Main Phase by activating Future Fusion! I send the 20 Machines in my deck to the grave in order to summon Chimeratech Overdragon in two turns!”
The Spell Card appeared on the field, sent all the machines to the grave, shuddered for a moment, and then exploded into pixels.
“WHAT?!” Hell Kaiser roared.
“That…was…my…facedown card.” A voice panted.
Hell Kaiser looked up. Sophia was rising unsteadily to her feet, but she was smiling.
“I activated my Spell Guard Trap Card.” Sophia explained. “Unlike other Counter Traps, this one activates after the effect. By discarding one card from my deck, I can destroy your Spell and select one Spell and add it to my hand! Now you have no monsters!”
Hell Kaiser scowled. “I end my turn and Cyberdark Dragon is destroyed by Limiter Removal.”
Sophia smiled as she drew her next card. (D.Tribe) “I’d like to thank you Hell Kaiser. By activating Future Fusion, who completed the requirements. Now, I CAN TAKE YOU DOWN!!”
Hell Kaiser raised a skeptical eyebrow. “How?”
“By activating the card Spell Guard gave me.” Sophia said. “I ACTIVATE DRAGON’S MIRROR!!” Sophia held the card aloft, making it glow with power. Spiritual versions of Luster Dragon, Felgrand Dragon, Darkblaze Dragon, Blue Eyes White Dragon, and Red Eyes Black Dragon appeared behind her.
“Wait, how did the fifth Dragon get into your graveyard?!” Hell Kaiser exclaimed.
Sophia grinned. “Don’t you remember Spell Guard? I had to discard a monster from my deck? I discarded Red Eyes!”
Hell Kaiser scowled.
“I remove the five Dragons in my graveyard from the game to summon FIVE HEAD DRAGON!!” Sophia yelled.
The five spirit Dragons vanished into the vortex behind Sophia. What emerged from if was a gold dragon with black wings and five heads: a fire head, a water head, a black head, a gold spiked head, and a dark silver metallic head.
“She did it!” Greg yelled. “Hell Kaiser’s goin’ down!!”
“FIVE HEADED DRAGON, ATTACK HIM DIRECTLY!” Sophia yelled, pointing at Hell Kaiser. “DRAGON POWER BLAST!”
The five dragons joined their heads together and gathered an enormous ball of red, black, gold, blue, and white energy between them. With a push, the ball was blasted towards Hell Kaiser. It hit him directly, causing an explosion to rip throughout the room, making everyone to brace themselves to prevent themselves from flying.
“Did she do it?” Johan asked.
Greg looked down. The smoke was clearing, and there was Hell Kaiser…standing with a Trap Card in front of him.
“WHAT?!” Sophia yelled.
Hell Kaiser smirked. “I was saved by my Trap Card, Focus Sash. When I’m about to take lethal damage, I can activate it from it anywhere and make the attack reduce my LP to 100 instead.”
Hell Kaiser – 100 Sophia – 1900
Sophia snarled. “Fine. I’ll just set my draw card facedown and end my turn”
Hell Kaiser drew his next card. (Card of Sanctity) “I activate Card of Sanctity. We each draw six cards. (Hell Kaiser: Overload Fusion, Relative Genocide, Mystical Space Typhoon, Heavy Storm, Mirror Force, Sakuretsu Armor. Sophia: Scapegoat, Dragon Fusion Offering, Mystical Space Typhoon, Monster Reborn, Call of the Haunted, and Polymerization) “Now I activate Relative Genocide. I select one monster in my graveyard and I must take all copies of the monster and send them to the grave, so I’ll send my two other Cyberdark Dragons to the grave.”
What is he planning? Greg wondered.
“I now activate Overload Fusion!” Hell Kaiser yelled. “I remove my three Cyberdark Dragons from the game to summon CYBERDARK END DRAGON! (3000 ATK)”
The three metallic dragons disappeared into the void. Emerging from it, in a blaze of black lightning, came a three-headed version of the Cyberdark Dragon, including three pairs of wings borrowed from Cyberdark Edge.
Hell Kaiser grinned. “Meet Cyberdark End Dragon, the object of your destruction!”
Sophia scoffed. “Doesn’t look so bad to me! It can’t take my Five Headed Dragon!”
“I now activate its ability!” Hell Kaiser continued. “My monster gains 500 ATK for every monster in my graveyard. (3000 à 13000 ATK)”
Sophia grinned. “Close, but no cigar. I activate D Tribe, then chain that with Scapegoat, and chain that with Dragon Fusion Offering! D. Tribe turns all monsters on my side of the field into dragons and Scapegoat gives me four sheep tokens!” In a flash, four fluffy multicolored sheep where on Sophia’s side of the field. “But the big one here is Dragon Fusion Offering. By sacrificing my Five Headed Dragon, I can summon any Dragon-type Fusion ignoring the summoning rules, so rise my Ultimate Dragon Rider! (5000 ATK)” In another flash, Sophia’s signature monster appeared on the field, replacing the five-headed dragon. The new monster was a Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon with a Black Luster Soldier riding on top of it. “Also, my Dragon Fusion Offering has another ability: it negates the effect of the summoned monster and gives it a new one: it gains 1000 ATK for every Dragon on the field, in the graveyard, and removed from the game! (5000 à 16000 ATK) You still don’t have enough power to defeat me!”
Hell Kaiser grinned. “My Cyberdark End Dragon has another ability: for every monster removed from the game, I have to select that many monsters from anywhere and equip it to it, so I’ll choose Cyber End Dragon, Five Headed Dragon, and Cyber Twin Dragon, and my monster gains ATK equal to the combined ATK of the equipped monsters! (13000 à 24800 ATK)
“NO!!!” Greg yelled. He immediately dashed to the ladder and began descending, with Violet, Johan, and Kai right behind him.
“CYBERDARK END DRAGON, ATTACK!” roared Hell Kaiser. “DESTROY THAT MONSTER WITH DARK STRIDENT BLAZE!”
The three dragons opened their mouths and unleashed black lightning at Sophia’s monster. It exploded, triggering Sophia’s bands. She screamed in pain and fell to the ground as her LP reached 0.
Hell Kaiser – 100 Sophia – 0
“SOPHIA!!!” Greg yelled as he got to the platform. He flung himself next to his cousin, ignoring the smirking Hell Kaiser as he walked off the field. Greg gathered her into his arms. “Sophia…no…not you too…”
Sophia gave a weak smiled. “I’ll…be fine. We…showed…him…didn’t we?”
Greg tried to smile, but failed. “Yeah, you did.”
Sophia coughed meekly. “You’ll beat him, cousin. I…know…you…will…”
Her eyes began to close. Greg started to panic. “Sophia?! No, Sophia, no!! NO!!”
Sophia smiled and touched his cheek. “Take…care…” With that, her eyes closed and her arm went limp.
Greg shook her “Sophia?” Receiving no response, he screamed. “SOPHIA!!” He bowed his head and began sobbing, his tears falling on her head.
Violet crouched next to Greg and tried to gather him into her arms, but Greg shrugged her off and kept on crying while holding his family member.
As everyone else cried around him, Greg raised his head and let out a primal roar that shook the heavens: “KAISER!!!!”
