Yu-Gi-Oh! The Four Virtues Episode 6: “Ominous Fortunetelling”
The girl was sitting in the Kaiba Corp lounge, looking at her tarot cards. 10 were all face-up on the table in a pyramid spread. The scary thing was, they were telling her something. Something that has only been seen once before. The girl impatiently swiped some of her purple-blue hair out of her eyes, which were of an amethyst color. She needed to concentrate… “Hey” said a male voice. The girl looked up. She immediately recognized him: Toshiro Henry, owner of the Destiny Heroes. “Hello” she replied. Toshiro looked at the seat across from her, and she nodded, okay his silent request to sit down. “What’s you name?” he asked when he was seated. The girl gave a small smile. “Fate Takuma” she answered. “Daughter of Sartorius. And you’re Toshiro.” Toshiro nodded. “Sartorius…wasn’t he Aster Phoenix’s manager?” Fate nodded. “Yes. Afterwards he was sent to a half-way house or something. I never saw him after that.” Toshiro bowed his head. “I’m sorry” Fate shrugged. “Don’t be. It’s not like he ever helped me in any way. The only thing he shared with me was the ability to read tarot cards and his deck.” She patted the box on her waist fondly. Toshiro looked at the cards thoughtfully. “Would you mind doing me a reading?” Fate smiled, a true one this time. “Of course, Toshiro” she shuffled the cards laid out on the table back in the deck and cut it. “What question would you like me to answer?” Toshiro thought a moment. “What is the story of my life?” Fate took the top three cards of the deck and put them facedown in front of her. She then flipped them over one by one and stared at them for a moment. Toshiro looked at her curiously. “What do you see?” Fate took a deep breath. “A lot”. She said. She pointed to the first card, a royal figure sitting on a throne holding a sword into the air. However, the card was upside-down. “Justice upside-down’s first meaning is injustice.” She looked at him. “You were wronged in the past. But I also sense something deeper in the card, which leads me to its second to last meaning: delayed judgment.” Fate tilted her head. “Correct so far?” Toshiro rested his right hand on a deck box on his waist and nodded. Fate gestured to the second card, one of a man wearing a Scottish-like outfit, carrying a rucksack while standing on a rock. “The Fool, upright. That means you’re starting on a journey. It also means you can change existing states due to unexpected events and it also means you have to make some important decisions.” She pointed to the final card, one of a marble tower being destroyed by lightning. “The Tower, upright. In the future, you will face conflict and change. You will lose many things that are important to you and your life will change forever. However, in the end, you will obtain freedom.” Fate looked at Toshiro. “You’re one unusual person, Toshiro. I have never seen this reading before, and I’ve been doing this for a long time.” Toshiro nodded as Fate picked up the cards. “May I ask one more question?” he asked. Fate cut the deck again and nodded. Toshiro took a deep breath. “Will I survive my journey?” Fate took the top card of the deck and flipped it face-up on the table. It showed a royal lady riding a white carriage being pulled by sphinx-like creatures. “The Chariot. When upright, it means you’ll overcome your obstacles.” She looked at him again. “So it looks like you might.” Toshiro stood up and turned to go, then hesitated. “What do you mean, ‘might’?” Fate had just finished putting her tarot cards away. She looked up. “My readings only give you one future. There are many others that could await you, according to The Fool. Don’t take what I told you too literally.” Toshiro nodded, and then a loud gong sounded. “Sound’s like there’s another duel about to get underway” he said. Fate smiled and stood, smoothing out her red skirt. Toshiro now noticed she wore a white jacket over a matching red shirt. “Yes, mine” she replied. Toshiro nodded. He looked at door. “Would you like me to accompany you to your D-Wheel?” Fate smiled and blushed slightly. “No thanks Toshiro” she said as she brushed past him. She stopped right in front of the door. “However, how about you and I hang around town tomorrow?” she asked looking back at him coyly. Toshiro bowed. “I await the day, Miss Takuma.” Fate blushed deeper and all but ran out the door. Toshiro smirked, watching her. “I’m good.”

Fate made it to the starting line just in time to see her opponent prepping his deck. “Who are you?” she asked, as she put on her white helmet. The man smirked. “My name…? Drayson Cray. Others…call me the Lord of Judgment.” Fate rolled her eyes. “I’m Fate Takuma…Mistress of Destiny” Cray smirked again. “Well then” he climbed onto his D-Wheel, a gold one, and put on his helmet, which was also gold. “Let’s see which one of us has more power.” Fate jumped onto her bike, a purple one with white streaks. “Fine” The two duelists pushed a button, activating the duel mode of the bike. “Duel Mode” beeped the computer. “Auto-Pilot on Standby.” “Duel!” the two duelists shouted. In a blast of smoke, they were off.
Fate – 4000 Drayson – 4000
Fate looked at her hand: Arcana Force 0-The Fool, Creature Swap, Light Barrier, Tour of Doom, and Cup of Ace. “I’ll go first!” Fate announced, drawing a sixth card (Arcana Call) “I summon Arcana Force 0-The Fool in ATK mode! (0 ATK)” In a flash, the purple robe wearing, ashened skin, tentacle haired humanoid appeared. Then its card appeared above it and began rotating. “What the hell is going on?” Cray asked. Fate glanced back at him. “This is the power of my cards. When they come into play, they get a certain effect depending on what position the card stops at. So choose, Drayson Cray.” Cray gritted his teeth. “Fine, stop now!” The holographic card stopped in an upside-down position. “Now you cannot target my monster with my card effects. I now activate the Field Spell Light Barrier!” In a flash, both cyclists were surrounded by a ring of gold light. “Next, I set one card facedown (Tour of Doom) and end my turn.” Cray smirked. “Draw!” he announced, taking the top card of his deck. “Trap Card open!” Fate commanded. “Activate Tour of Doom!” The Trap Card revealed itself and began rotating like her monster did. Cray narrowed his eyes. “Another rotating card?” Fate nodded. “Yes. Almost all the cards in my deck have this ability. Now choose!” “Stop now!” The Trap Card stopped in an upright position. Fate smirked. “It appears destiny is against you, Mr. Cray…now you cannot Normal Summon or Special Summon monsters until your next turn.” Cray snarled as he looked at his hand: Jain-Lightsworn Paladin, Realm of Light, Honest, Negate Attack, and Scapegoat. “I set two cards facedown (Negate Attack and Scapegoat) and end my turn.” Fate drew her next card. (Arcana Force 1-The Magician) “The effect of my Field Spell activates now.” Fate announced as the card appeared above her and began rotating. “Choose!” Cray waited a full minute before yelling “Stop!” and grinding his teeth together when he saw it was upright. “Now I can choose the effect of my monsters.” Fate explained. “Now I summon Arcana Force 1-The Magician in ATK mode with its upright effect! (1100 ATK)” In a flash, the sliver bodied alien in a jester outfit appeared. “I activate my Spell Card!” Cray announced. “My Scapegoat gives me four Sheep Tokens! (0/0)” In four small flashes, four multi-colored sheep appeared. “Thank you for that move” Fate said. “Because thanks to my Magician’s upright effect, it’s ATK is now doubled until the end of turn! (1100 à 2200 ATK) Now I activate Creature Swap! Now you get The Fool and I get one of your tokens!” In a flash, the two monsters swapped places. Fate gestured to her newly summoned monster. “Magician, attack The Fool!” The monster leapt into the air and fired a blast of silver light at his enemy, only to have his absorbed by a purple shield. “Sorry” Cray said sarcastically. “But my Negate Attack will cancel your attack and end the battle phase!” Fate nodded. “It’s your move. (Magician: 2200 à 1100 ATK)” Cray drew his next card (Judgment Dragon) and watched as Fate’s Trap Card began rotating again. Not wanting another explanation, Cray just wearily said “Stop” The Trap card again landed upright. Cray sighed. “I end my turn.” Fate drew her next card (Pot of Greed) and her Field Spell began rotating again. Cray announced “Stop!” almost immediately…but not before the card had passed it’s upside-down position and continued until it stopped in its upright position. “I now activate Pot of Greed to draw two cards.” Fate announced. (Arcana Force EX-The Dark Ruler and Arcana Force VI-The Lovers) (Magician: 1100 à 2200 ATK) “I now summon Arcana Force VI-The Lovers in ATK mode! (1600 ATK)” In a flash, the alien who looked more like a clothed, chubby worm than anything else appeared. “And thanks to my Field Spell, I decide it will get it’s upright effect, which says it can be used as two tributes for an Arcana Force monster! Now I sacrifice The Magician and The Lovers to summon this: ARCANA FORCE EX-THE DARK RULER! (4000 ATK)” The new monster was a marvelous site to behold: it’s body looked like a black tank with four legs with huge claws at the end, and coming out of each shoulder was a dragon head. Cray paled. “No…impossible…I can’t lose!” Fate closed her eyes and smirked. “You brought this upon yourself, Cray. You meddled with destiny…” Her eyes snapped open, her eyes becoming a blazing dark purple. “AND NOW IT HAS DECIDED TO BITE BACK!” The two dragon heads roared with approval. Fate swung her bike around and started riding towards Cray. “DARK RULER, ATTACK THE FOOL! FINISH HIM!” The two heads reared and unleashed two blasts of dark energy the tentacle-haired humanoid.. The force of the blast knocked Cray off his bike, making him bounce along the road like a beach ball. His D-Wheel veered to the side and exploded against a wall.
Fate – 4000 Cray – 0
Fate skidded to a stop in front of the prone form of her victim, her eyes still a dark purple. As she looked down at Cray…she smirked.

Unknown by the victor, a figure looked in the shows of the alley behind her. He, too, was smirking…but not at the victory, nor at the ease at which she had dispatched her opponent. That’s it Takuma, he thought. Don’t lock it away. Let it out, let it consume you, devour you… Then you will have unlocked your true destiny. Then…you shall be mine.
