Episode 16: “Electra-fying”
Toshiro and Fate were in the Kaiba Corp library, pouring over lost data. The library was made up of disks and flash drives, not books, so the teens were forced to pick a disk, slip it into a computer, watch the contents, only to put it aside as it did not contain the information they were looking for.
“This is hopeless” Toshiro groaned, slamming his head onto the table. “If I have to watch one more commercial on how Kaiba Corp saved the world by creating duel disks, I’m going to chuck this whole library out the window!”
Fate grinned ruefully. “You’ll find that hard: security would lock you up before you had the chance.”
Toshiro looked up at her, at her beautiful purple hair and eyes. “You’d help me, wouldn’t you?”
Fate’s grin grew wider. “Maybe…”
Toshiro pouted. “C’mon, Fate! Don’t leave me in the dark!”
She laughed at the look on his face. “You look so cute when you do that!”
Toshiro’s pout went away, and a smirk graced his features. “I knew you’d find me irresistible.”
Fate was about to reply when a distant claxon attracted their attention. “The duel’s over?” Fate asked.
“Sounds like it.” Toshiro replied, rising slowly from his chair. “I wonder if Jaya managed to pull it out”
Fate glanced at her friend. “You really miss her, don’t you?”
Toshiro started walking towards the exit. “I don’t—”
Fate grabbed his shoulder and spun him around. “Yes, you do! You two were obviously close! So what happened?”
Toshiro bowed his head and sighed. When he lifted it again, Fate saw that his eyes were filled with pain.
“Let me tell you a story…”

Tokyro was waiting at the doors of Kaiba Corp as Jaya and Mara rode up. “Who won?” he asked.
Mara dismounted, a slight frown gracing her face. “Jaya did” she remarked.
Tokyro grinned and grasped Jaya arm. “Congratulations. Now you just need to wait for me to beat whomever I’m facing…”
“And that person is me” a cool voice finished.
Tokyro, Jaya, and Mara spun around: standing at the threshold of Kaiba Corp was a black robed female, based on her curves. A black duel disk was strapped to her arm, and a hood covered her face.
“You!” Jaya fumed.
The figure chuckled. “Jaya Yuki…mad at me, are you?”
Tokyro looked confused. “Uhh, Jaya? Who’s this chick?”
“Her name is Electra” Jaya spat out the name like it was a curse. “And she’s responsible for my sister’s condition!”
Electra seemed to grin. “Jaya, I thought you weren’t about revenge? I thought you were above that petty idea?”
“Shut up!” Jaya snapped back. “What do you want?!”
“I would like to duel someone” the vixen replied, taking her deck out and sliding it into her duel disk.
“Then I’ll be happy to oblige!” Jaya cried, reaching back to her D-Wheel to retrieve her own duel disk.
“Not you” Electra snapped. “Him”
Jaya and Mara looked at Electra, who was pointing at the figure between them: Tokyro.
“What?!” Tokyro exclaimed. “Why me?!”
“Because, this is a tournament” Electra explained patiently, “and you are my next opponent. And I’d like to do this sooner rather than later.”
Tokyro snarled. “You think I’m a waste of your time?!”
Electra smirked. “In a word: yes”
Tokyro took his deck and jammed it into his duel disk. “Well then, I guess I need to prove you wrong!”
Electra activated her disk and chuckled evilly. “If you can.”
“Tokyro, be careful!” Mara warned as he activated his duel disk.
“LET’S DUEL!”
Electra – 4000 Tokyro – 4000
The two duelists drew their respective opening hands. Tokyro’s consisted of Sangan, Undisturbed Paradise, Twilight Road, Neo Spacian Grand Mole, and Twilight Hole; Electra’s consisted of Cyberdark Horn, Forethought, Masked Dragon, Boosted Metamorphosis, and Sakuretsu Armor.
“I’ll start this off!” Tokyro announced while drawing his next card (D.D. Warrior Lady). “I set one monster facedown (Sangan) along with two other cards (Undisturbed Paradise and Twilight Road) and end my turn.” Three reverse cards were present on the field as Tokyro finished his phrase.
“That’s all?” Electra asked condescendingly. “I thought you said you were a challenge?”
Tokyro scowled. “Just go!”
“With pleasure” Electra drew her next card (Pain’s Bonds) “I activate the Spell Card Forethought! With this card, I can draw four cards (Mystical Space Typhoon, Armed Dragon LV5, Graceful Charity, and Overload Fusion) and then send one to the graveyard (Masked Dragon) and place one on the top of my deck (Mystical Space Typhoon). Next, I summon Cyberdark Horn in ATK mode! (800 ATK)” In a flash, a metallic dragon with spikes covering its entire body appeared.
Cyberdark?! Jaya thought I thought she used Armed Dragons?!
“Now I can activate its ability!” Electra announced. “I can equip the Masked Dragon in my graveyard and increase my dragon’s ATK by Masked Dragon’s ATK (800 à 2200 ATK). Now my monster, destroy his facedown!”
Cyberdark Horn opened its maw and unleash a blast of black lightning. The force of the attack flipped the card over to reveal a small, three eyes gremlin screaming silently as it was torn to shreds.
“Sangan?” Electra guessed. “How quaint. Search for your pathetic monster then.”
Tokyro flicked through his deck until he took out his Neo Spacian Flare Scarab. After placing the said card in his hand, he slipped the deck back into its slot.
“By the way,” Electra remarked carelessly, “Cyberdark Horn deals damage to you even though your monster was in DEF mode”
Tokyro winced as several bolt of lightning travelled up and down his body.
Electra – 4000 Tokyro – 2800
“Go Trap Card! “ Tokyro shouted as the lightning disappeared.
Electra stiffened in shock. “What?”
Tokyro smirked as the card flipped up. “When a monster is destroyed, I can activate my Twilight Road Trap Card. It lets me summon one Level Four or lower monster with ‘Neos’ in its name to the field! I choose Elemental Hero Neos Alius! (1900 ATK)” In a flash, a child version of the real Elemental Hero Neos appeared on the field.
“On top of that, I can draw an extra card (Neo Space)."
“I set two cards facedown (Pain’s Bonds and Sakuretsu Armor) and end my turn” Electra finished.
Tokyro drew his next card (Double Summon). “I activate the ability of my Neos Alius! By sacrificing my Normal Summon, I can treat this card as ‘Elemental Hero Neos’!”
Electra snorted in derision. “That was a waste of a turn”
“Not quite” Tokyro replied. “I activate my Double Summon Spell Card! With this, I can summon again! So come forth, Neo Spacian Flare Scarab!” In a flash, the black and red extraterrestrial bipod appeared. “Now, I return my Alius and Flare Scarab to my deck to summon Elemental Hero Flare Neos! (2500 ATK)” A pillar of fire erupted behind Tokyro, and from it emerged a black and orange armored humanoid.
Electra grunted. “And I’m guessing you have Neo Space, too?”
“That’s right!” Tokyro affirmed as he slid the Field Spell into its slot. At once, the entire field was surrounded by a swirling nebula of rainbow light.
“With Neo Space in play, my Flare Neos gains an extra 500 ATK! (2500 à 3000 ATK)” Tokyro announced. “Also, for every Spell and Trap Card in play, my monster gains an additional 400 ATK! (3000 ATK à 4600 ATK)”
“Good job!” Mara called. “Now you can deal serious damage to her Life Points!”
“Flare Neos, attack her Cyberdark Horn!” Tokyro commanded. “Burn it away with Cosmic Flame!”
The space hero gathered a ball of flame and fired it at the spiky mechanical nightmare. The resulting explosion covered Electra’s side of the field.
Electra – 1600 Tokyro – 2800
“When there is a monster equipped to Cyberdark Horn, my monster cannot be destroyed at the cost of the equipped monster.” Electra stated. “Also, I activate the Trap Card called Pain’s Bonds!”
As the Trap Card flipped face-up, the smoke blew back, revealing Electra and a weaker Cyberdark Horn (2200 à 800 ATK).
“Pain’s Bonds?” Tokyro asked. “What does that card do?”
“When you deal damage to my Life Points, your monster loses ATK equal to the damage I took” Electra explained coolly.
Tokyro gasped and glanced at his monster, which seemed to wilt as it grew weaker. (4600 à 2200 ATK)
“My move” Electra stated, redrawing her Mystical Space Typhoon. “Sorry to say, but your pretty laser-light show is over, for I activate Mystical Space Typhoon!” A gale ripped across the field.
“Sorry, girl!” Tokyro called. “I activate my Undisturbed Paradise! This Trap Card stops your Typhoon from destroying my Field Spell!” As he spoke, the windstorm quieted.
“Impressive” Electra admitted, “But your Flare Neos still loses ATK. (2200 à 1800)”
Tokyro shrugged. “It’s still your move”
“Right, so now I sacrifice my monster to summon Armed Dragon LV5!” Electra announced as the red and black plump winged beast appeared. “But now I activate Boosted Metamorphosis! By sacrificing my dragon, I can summon a more powerful one! So tremble in the face of Armed Dragon LV10! (3000 ATK)” In a flash, the large dragon encased in silver armor appeared. “Now my Dragon, attack!”
The dragon opened its maw and unleashed hot red flame at the weakened hero, blasting it apart.
Electra – 1600 Tokyro – 1600
Tokyro, panting heavily, drew his next card (Pot of Greed). “I activate Pot of Greed—”
“Yes, I know what it does.” Electra interrupted. “This isn’t a cartoon. I don’t need you to explain the most basic card effects to me.”
Tokyro scowled and drew the two cards granted to him by Pot of Greed’s effect (Neos Call and Negate Attack). “I activate Neos Call! I discard my D.D. Warrior Lady to Special Summon my Elemental Hero Neos from my deck!” In a flash, the famous silver hero appeared, flexing his enormous muscles as he stood in front of his owner. “Due to Neos Call’s side-effect, however, Neos’ ATK is decreased by 1000. (2500 à 1500 ATK)”
“Than why waste a card?” Electra asked.
Tokyro grinned. “I summon Neo Spacian Grand Mole!” The furry rodent with a drill collar appeared. He had gopher-like teeth and sharp black claws.
Electra’s eyes widened. “No!”
“Grand Mole, attack her Armed Dragon!” Tokyro shouted. The drill collar came together, and the head area became a complete drill. The small creature flew at the monstrous dragon, and a strange glow surrounded the two of them.
“Grand Mole’s ability negates the battle between the two monsters, and returns them both to their owners’ hands!” Tokyro announced.
The glow grew brighter, and when it dimmed, both monsters were gone.
Electra scowled as she watched Neos fly at her. “Not a chance, Tokyro! My Sakuretsu Armor will stop your attack and destroy your monster!”
Neos held up his attack as a purple aura surrounded him. He groaned for a moment, and then exploded.
Tokyro sighed sadly. “I set one card facedown (Negate Attack) and end my turn.”
Electra drew her next card (Graceful Charity). “I activate Graceful Charity and draw three cards (Cyberdark Keel, Cyberdark Edge, and Torn World), then discard two (both Cyberdarks). Next, I activate Overload Fusion!”
Jaya’s brows shot up as a crackling black vortex appeared behind Electra. There’s definitely more to this duelist than meets the eye…
“I remove Cyberdark Horn, Cyberdark Edge, and Cyberdark Keel from the game to Fusion Summon my Cyberdark Dragon!” Electra cried. The three machines swirled into the abyss, and the crackling increased. A pillar of light shot out from its depths, and a spiky dark, metallic dragon emerged, giving out a primal roar.
“I activate its ability, and equip it with Armed Dragon LV5, therefore increasing Cyberdark Dragon’s ATK by the ATK of the equipped monster (1000 à 3400 ATK).” Electra stated. “Furthermore, Cyberdark Dragon’s ATK in further increased by 100 for every monster in my graveyard. (3400 à 3500 ATK)”
“If this attack goes through, Tokyro loses!” Mara exclaimed.
“FULL DARKNESS BLAST!” Electra ordered, and a stream of red and black fire was unleashed.
“I activate Negate Attack!” Tokyro shouted, and a transparent shield intercepted the attack and dissipated the energy.
“I end my turn” Electra huffed.
Tokyro drew his next card (Miracle Contact). “I re-summon Neo Spacian Grand Mole in ATK mode!” In a flash, the monster that had banished Electra’s Armed Dragon LV10 reappeared.
“Even if you use it to attack me, I’ll just beat you next turn!” Electra asserted.
“Who says I’m attacking with Grand Mole?” Tokyro asks.
“What else—?” Electra stopped short, her eyes widening. “No…”
“I activate Miracle Contact!” Tokyro announced, holding the card aloft. Ghost images of Neos and Flare Scarab materialized behind him. “I return Neos, Flare Scarab, and Grand Mole to my deck to perform a Contact Fusion!”
The three monsters leapt into the air and flew to the peak of the dome that was Neo Space.
“From the far-flung stars a hero shall descend, and shall defend the forces of Justice!”
Suddenly, a bright light cut across the field.
“Come forth, Elemental Hero Magma Neos!”
The Fusion had a silver torso, but that was the only link it had with Neos. Its arms and legs were made of hardened magma and covered with silver armor. Two navy blue wings spouted from its back.
“My monster gains 400 ATK for each other card in play!” Tokyro announced. “Plus, don’t forget Neo Space (3000 à 3500 à 4700 ATK)! Now my monster, incinerate that dragon!”
Magma Neos gathered a huge ball of flame in one hand and flung it at the dragon. It weathered the flames, but only the attached Armed Dragon LV5 was blown apart.
“Shoot!” Tokyro shouted. “I forgot! Cyberdark Dragon can’t be destroyed when it’s equipped!”
Electra – 400 Tokyro – 1600
Electra was fuming. This piece of trash, this upstart, dares to challenge me?! “That’s it…” she said in a deadly whisper. “No more games. You’re done!”
Tokyro flinched. Oh boy…
“My move!” Electra cried (Offering of Greed). “I activate Offering of Greed! I sacrifice my Cyberdark Dragon to draw two cards!” The dragon fizzled into nothingness, and Electra added the top two cards of her deck to her hand (Emergency Teleport and Proto-Cyber Dragon). “I summon Proto-Cyber Dragon to the field!” In a flash, the dark copy of Cyber Dragon appeared to the field. “Next, I activate Emergency Teleport!”
As the card appeared on the field, Tokyro questioned “What’s that?!”
“This card lets me summon a Psychic-type monster from my deck to the field!” Electra announced. “So meet my Psychic Commander!” In a flash, a green-robed humanoid riding a flying saucer appeared.
“Next, how about we change the scenery with Torn World!” As Electra slid the Field Spell into its slot, the rainbow-colored surroundings turned dark. Really dark. The entire duel field was covered in shadows that seemed to whisper dark thoughts.
“Now, I tune my Proto Cyber Dragon with my Psychic Commander to show you a new type of monster!”
The Psychic Commander dissolved into three green circles. The mechanical dragon slithered through them, and it dissolved into three glowing orbs.
“Reality shall bend and break, and the ultimate nightmare shall wreak havoc!”
Suddenly, an orange light shot through the three green circles.
“Synchro Summon!” Electra shouted “Behold, my PSYBER DRAGON! (1500 ATK)”
The new beast was all black with yellow streaks running along its sides. It had a laser cannon for a head. At the end of its tail was a silver curved blade. It hissed menacingly at Tokyro and Magma Neos.
“What…what is that thing?!” Tokyro stammered.
“My Psyber Dragon has numerous abilities” Electra explained. “Firstly, when its Synchro Summoned, it gains ATK of the Tuner monster used to summon it! (1500 à 2900 ATK) Next, I can increase its ATK again by the difference between our Life Points! (2900 à 4100 ATK)”
Tokyro gasped. “No! It’s stronger than Magma Neos! (4700 à 4200 à 3400 ATK)”
“Psyber Dragon, destroy that insignificant hero!” Electra ordered. “REALITY DISCHARGE!!”
The laser cannon whirred and unleashed a blast of gold energy that surrounded Magma Neos. It groaned and seemed to slump a bit. (3400 à 1800 ATK)
“What?!” Tokyro cried. “What happened to Magma Neos?!”
“That’s my Psyber Dragon’s final ability” Electra replied. “When it attacks a monster, that monster loses ATK equal to its Level times 200.”
Magma’s unearthly groan grew louder until it shattered into tiny pieces. The remainder of the attack hit Tokyro in the chest, driving him to his knees.
Electra – 400 Tokyro – 0
Tokyro’s head was bowed, his fists clenched and shaking as he kneeled with his cards lying on the ground around him. Electra walked over and stood above him. All could see she was smirking underneath her hood.
“Be honored, Tokyro Malia.” Electra whispered. “No duelist has pushed me to my limits before. You are the first ever to witness the power of the mighty Psyber Dragon.”
Tokyro didn’t reply. He just continued staring at the ground, knowing he had come so close to victory.
Electra grunted and began walking off in the direction of the city center. As she walked past, Jaya shot her a glare.
Electra… Jaya thought, you will pay…you WILL pay…
