Yu-Gi-Oh! The Four Virtues Episode 24: “Zero to Hero”
The tension in the room was thick enough to be cut with the metamorphic knife. Toshiro, Jaya, Mara, and Tokyro were staring in shock at the lithe female in front of them. She wore black cargo pants, a tight-fitting tank top that revealed more that what was decently necessary, and a silver belt that held a black deck box. Her blonde hair flowed behind her, the ends spiked like knives. Dark blue eyes crackled with power and anger, and her figure seemed to radiate power. Sarah Smith smiled and flexed her fingers. “Toshiro…you actually think you can defeat me in battle? Your girlfriend over there may have, but after my modifications, you won’t put a dent in my Life Points!” Toshiro scowled, his duel disk still held at the ready. Moments before, he had slid one of the legendary Dragons of Virtue into his deck, and almost immediately he felt it hum with energy. “Sarah...I really don’t want to do this…but you’re my friend, and I’ll fight to free you from the shadows!” The deranged witch cackled madly. “You actually think you can save her?” Toshiro noticed the switch to third person, and his eyes narrowed. “Who are you, really?” Those eyes glowed even brighter. “I am Electra, mistress of darkness! And in order to obtain the sacred power,” Electra pointed a delicately manicured nail at Toshiro, “I challenge to you a duel!” The son of champions smirked. “I thought you’d never ask.”
* * *
The two parties stood on opposite ends of the Kaiba Corporation roof, underneath the blanket of the heavens. Electra and Toshiro stood at least ten yards from each other, their legs shackled to the building, “just in case something went wrong”, as Electra put it. Toshiro was shuffling his deck in silence as Jaya came up behind him. “I’m scared,” she whispered in his ear. Her best friend looked into his eyes and gave her a reassuring smile. “I’ll be fine.” Jaya’s eyes began to water as she flung her arms around him. “You better be,” she sobbed. “I refuse to let you go just after I found you again!” After a second, Jaya stepped away and Toshiro turned to face his opponent. “Are you ready?” Electra held her duel disk up to the heavens and activated it, and black shadows seemed to surround the group. “There can only be one victor here, Toshiro, and I play for keeps.” Their eyes never straying, the duelists drew their opening hands and shouted “DUEL!”
Electra – 4000 Toshiro – 4000
“I’ll go first!” Toshiro announced, adding a sixth card to his hand. “I summon Destiny Hero Defender! (2700 DEF)” A hulking brute made entirely out of cinderblocks took a defensive stance in front of Toshiro, its wide arms effectively shielding its face. “Next, I activate Void Shield!” A black void opened up on D-Hero Defender’s right forearm. “With this Equip Spell, my monster’s DEF is increased by 300 points and all of its effects are negated! (2700 à 3000 DEF)” “Excellent!” Tokyro exclaimed. “Now Electra won’t be able to draw that extra card every turn!” “Now, I set one card facedown and end my turn,” Toshiro concluded, a brown black-bordered hologram occupying the space behind Destiny Hero Defender. Electra snapped the top card from her deck and added it to her hand. “I activate Torn World!” As the infamous Field Spell was slipped into its slot, the shadows that had seemed to surround the group earlier grew thicker and deeper, fully enveloping the six teenagers in its black embrace. “Next, I summon Vile Psyberspawn in ATK mode!” A red figure made of a gelatin-like substance that was covered by black plates of metal appeared, floating in the air next to its mistress. Two glowing red eyes situated on the front-most plate raged like molten lava. “Whenever Vile Psyberspawn is Normal Summoned,” Electra explained, “I can Special Summon one Psychic or Machine-type Tuner from my hand, so meet my Krebons!” Next, a white-skinned humanoid wearing a jester outfit appeared. “Now, I tune my Vile Psyberspawn with my Krebons!” Krebons’ bell at the end of his jester had jingled, and it seperated into two glowing green circles. The Psyberspawn flew into these rings and dissolved into four glowing white orbs. “Meet the all-consuming poison!” Electra cackled. “Appear, Psyberspawn Basilisk! (1000 ATK)” The Level 6 monster was approximately twenty feet long, its tails coiled around its mistress. The length of its body was covered in black armor with gold lines racing down the sides. It retained the fiery eyes of Vile Psyberspawn. It’s head was mostly taken over by a gigantic maw, from which two sickle-like fangs emerged. “A Level 6 monster…with 1000 ATK?!” Toshiro observed incredulously. Electra’s grin grew wider as she pointed at D-Hero Defender. “Psyberspawn Basilisk, attack!” “Why?!” Mara exclaimed. “She’s going to loose half her Life Points!” “Not quite half,” Tokyro reminded her. “She gained 1000 from Torn World’s ability.” The snake-like machine lunged forward faster than the eye could follow and sunk its fangs into Defender’s neck. The Hero gripped its assailant’s body, trying to pry it off. “I activate Psyberspawn Basilisk’s special ability!” Electra announced. “When it attacks a monster in DEF position whose DEF is higher than this monster’s ATK, the opposing monster is automatically destroyed!” Toshiro gaped as Defender groaned and turned a sickly purple before exploding. The basilisk towered above him, its beady eyes locked on his. “Also, when a monster is destroyed by Psyberspawn Basilisk, my monster gains 500 ATK! (1000 à 1500 ATK)” “That’s not good,” Jaya muttered. “Now Toshiro can’t play defensively; he’s going to have to battle this out the hard way.” Electra selected another card in her hand and slipped it into her Spell/Trap Zone. “I end my turn.”
Electra – 3000 Toshiro – 4000
Toshiro drew his next card, giving him a four-card hand. “I activate Destiny Draw!” He announced. “By discarding my Disk Commander, I can draw two extra cards. Next, I activate Angel Lift, which revives my Disk Commander!” A blue jumpsuit-wearing humanoid appeared and surrounded itself with large silver disks. “Thanks to his ability, I can draw an additional two cards. Now, I sacrifice my monster to summon Destiny Hero Dasher! (2100 ATK)” The silver armored hero leapt onto the playing field, its two arms visibly tensed, despite the armor. “Now my monster, attack!” “Not so fast, Toshiro!” Electra exclaimed. “I activate my Trap Card: Twisted Frame! This card permanently exchanges the ATK points of our two monsters!” Psyberspawn Basilisk and Dasher both were covered in auras, the former in a blue one and the latter in red. (Basilisk: 2100 ATK; Dasher: 1500 ATK) The mechanical serpent lunged forward and caught the hero in its jaws, piercing the armor and disintegrating the Destiny Hero. “My Basilisk now gains an extra 500 ATK (2100 à 2600 ATK) since it destroyed a monster,” Electra explained, “and now its second ability activates: when you take Battle Damage, you receive a Poison Counter!” Toshiro merely grunted as the aftershocks of the battle washed over him.
Electra – 3000 Toshiro – 3400, 1 Poison Counter
“I’ll set two cards facedown and end my turn,” Toshiro announced, leaving once more with three cards in hand. Electra added a third card to her hand before pointing at the defenseless teenage boy. “Toshiro, now you shall feel the pain of poison! Each turn, for each Poison Counter you have, you take 100 damage!” Toshiro groaned as a purple aura covered him and dug invisible needles into his body. He felt blood seep out in more than one place.
Electra – 3000 Toshiro – 3300, 1 Poison Counter
“Now Psyberspawn Basilisk, direct attack!” Electra cried. “Fatal Fang!” The coiled monstrosity raised its head high into the air and bared its fangs, looking at Toshiro like he was just another meal… “Call of the Haunted, activate!” Toshiro ordered. “This card revives my Dasher!” As the armored hero leapt into the path of the striking snake, Toshiro gritted his teeth. This is the lesser of two evils, he realized. She left me with no alternative. Her Basilisk will get stronger, but at least I’ll have more Life Points. His thoughts were cut short, however, as he covered his eyes from the smoke that came from Dasher’s destruction.
Electra – 3000 Toshiro – 2800, 2 Poison Counters
Electra smirked in triumph as her Basilisk hissed loudly, feeling its strength increase (2600 à 3100 ATK). “I set one card facedown and end my turn.” “This is bad!” Mara exclaimed. “That…thing…has surpassed Blue Eyes White Dragon in strength!” “And Toshiro has a second Poison Counter,” Tokyro added tersely, “which means he takes 200 damage this turn. He needs to get rid of the Basilisk now!” Toshiro slowly drew his next card and grunted and more needles dug into his skin. He felt his life’s blood trickled down his arms and legs, and a small pool began to form around his feet.
Electra – 3000 Toshiro – 2600, 2 Poison Counters
Jaya was white as she surveyed her friend. Toshiro…please hang on… Toshiro was panting heavily and feeling woozy from the blood loss, but he felt elated when he looked at his new card. “I activate…” he took a deep breath, drying to regain composure. “I activate Destined Fusion! By removing Disk Commander and Dasher from the game I can summon Destiny Hero—Street Commander! (3500 ATK)” In a flash of light, a new monster emerged from the vortex: it had gold body armor, with black armor for his legs and hands. His head was protected by a helmet, and he wore mini-jet engines on his thighs and shoulders. “Yes!” Tokyro shouted. “He can beat Psyberspawn Basilisk!” “Street Justice!” Toshiro shouted, pointing at the mechanical abomination. Electra snorted. “I don’t think so. Sakuretsu Armor activate! Say goodbye to your precious Fusion monster!” Toshiro pointed at his remaining facedown. “Go, Shroud Armor! By reducing Street Commander’s ATK by 1000, I can negate any effect targeting it! (3500 à 2500 ATK)” “But now you can’t defeat my Basilisk!” Electra crowed triumphant. “Either way, you lose this round!” “Not quite!” Toshiro smirked. “I activate Point Transfer! This Quick Play Spell takes the points I subtracted from my monster and, until the end of turn, takes them away from your monster instead!” Electra stared as her Basilisk (3100 à 2100 ATK) seemed to shrink in size as Street Commander (2500 à 3500 ATK) rushed forward, driving its fist through the monster’s mouth. “Torn World grants me 500 LP when Basilisk is removed from the game!” Electra shrieked as the blast knocked her back. “Also, when Basilisk is destroyed, I draw two cards!”
Electra – 1900 Toshiro – 2600, 2 Poison Counters
“Now, I summon Destiny Hero Diamond Dude! (1400 ATK)” At Toshiro’s call, the green clothed hero with diamonds sticking out of his body appeared. “With his ability, I can discard the top card of my deck and, if it’s a Normal Spell Card, I can activate it next turn.” A facedown card materialized behind Street Commander. “I set one card facedown and end my turn.” Electra drew her next card, and she smirked as she saw Toshiro wince as more blood spilled out of him, adding to the ever-widening pool at his feet.
Electra – 1900 Toshiro – 2400, 2 Poison Counters
“I summon Psychic Blocker in DEF mode! (2400 DEF)” A large, muscular humanoid in a purple jumpsuit knelt in front of Electra, its bulky arms protecting its body. It head, which was crossly disproportionate with its body, was covered by an advanced silver helmet. “Next, I’ll set one card facedown and end my turn.” Toshiro, with an aching feeling in his chest and a fuzzy feeling in his head, slipped another card out of his duel disk and added it to his hand. Suddenly, his vision became obscured by a red liquid. It flowed into his mouth, and it tasted like copper: it was his blood.
Electra – 1900 Toshiro – 2200, 2 Poison Counters
“I…” Toshiro paused to spit out some blood. “I set one card facedown…” a second brown rectangle circumscribing a black oval appeared on Toshiro’s field. “Is that it?!” Electra jeered. Toshiro lifted his head to show his determined gaze. “No! Street Commander, destroy her Blocker!” “Psychic Blocker cannot be an attack target when I have a card in my Spell/Trap Zone!” Electra announced. Toshiro smirked. ‘Then this duel’s over! Street Commander, direct attack!” The armored hero leapt over the crouching humanoid, his first raised and prepared to punch a hole through the cruel vixen in front of him… “Trap Card, go!” Electra shouted. “My Memory Conduit will be the end of you, Toshiro Henry!” “How so?” The Destiny Hero wielder demanded as the Continuous Trap Card revealed itself. “When I’m selected as an attack target,” Electra explained, a grin threatening to split her face in two, “The opposing monster attacks my opponent instead!” Street Commander had begun its downward descent when a black hole opened in front of it. In a second, it flew out of one that had materialized in front of Toshiro. “But that means…Toshiro loses!” Jaya exclaimed. “Not quite!” Toshiro exclaimed. “I activate the effect of Persistent Dreams!” “Curse you and your damned tricks!” Electra roared, stamping her foot in frustration. “You sent it to the graveyard with Diamond Dude, didn’t you?!” Toshiro grinned. “By removing Persistent Dreams from the game, I can prevent all damage dealt to me this turn!” Street Commander flung its fist and it connected with an invisible wall. The Destiny Hero relaxed and returned to its original position. “Next, I set one card facedown and end my turn” Toshiro concluded. Electra added a third card to her hand, and Toshiro felt another dozen needles enter his body, draining more of his blood.
Electra – 1900 Toshiro – 2000, 2 Poison Counters
Electra began cackling. “Toshiro! Look at yourself! You are weakened, reduced to a pitiful state, standing in your own blood! Don’t you see how pointless this all is?!” “This…this isn’t pointless!” Toshiro panted, struggling visibly to stay upright. He had lost at least a quart of blood thus far. “I will keep fighting! I have friends to protect, a destiny to fulfill…these goals will give me strength!” Electra bowed her head and smirked. “Well then…let me drain you.” Toshiro snarled, clenching his hands to stop them from shaking. “I activate Synchro Draw!” Electra announced. “I discard my Hyper Psychic Blaster to draw an additional two cards. Next, I summon my Psyber Modulator!” A small robot unfolded in front of Electra, its systems firing up with a beep. “By paying 400 Life Points, I can increase my Tuner’s Level to 5!”
Electra – 1500 Toshiro – 2000, 2 Poison Counters
“Now, I tune my Level 5 Psyber Modulator with my Level 4 Psychic Blocker!” Electra announced. . The robot pressed a button on its control panel, and it became five glowing green rings and flew down around Psychic Blocker, which dissolved into four glowing orbs. “The darkness from the depths of despair shall surface, and destroy the living life!” Suddenly, instead of the customary orange light, a black fire burned through the circles and orbs, and a shadowy figure took shape. “Consume the sprit, Soul Reaver Dragon! (3000 ATK)”
Electra – 2500 Toshiro – 2000, 2 Poison Counters
The terrible beast stood approximately twenty feet tall, its entire body covered with iron scales. The space between these scaled was filled with silver, and matching silver spikes erupted from the shoulders, spine, and the ten foot long tail. Its claws sported five foot long silver scythes, and the dragon stared down at the lone teenage boy with an evil expression in its eye. “When there is a Synchro Monster in the graveyard, I get to choose between two abilities,” Electra explained. “In this case, I’ll choose to increase my dragon’s ATK by the ATK of a Synchro monster in my graveyard! (3000 + 3000 = 6000 ATK)” Toshiro gaped at the huge beast, which was now covered in a red aura and leering down at him. “Soul Reaver Dragon, attack!” Electra cackled. “Blast from Beyond the Veil!” The Dragon gathered a ball of red and black energy in his hand and flung it at Diamond Dude, who tensed as his cape fluttered out behind him… “Go Trap Card!” Toshiro cried desperately. “D-Shield will switch my monster to DEF mode and make in indestructible in battle!” As the energy ball neared, Diamond Dude was enveloped by crystal shards which repelled the attack. However, Toshiro was still knocked by several paces by the force of the blow. Electra’s grin was predatory as she slipped another card into her duel disk. “I end my turn” Toshiro slid an extra card out of his duel disk and winced as he lost another pint or two of blood. He fell to his knees in exhaustion, the red liquid soaking through his pants.
Electra – 2500 Toshiro – 1800, 2 Poison Counters
“I…I switch…Street Commander to DEF mode…and end my turn…” Each word that Toshiro spoke pained him, like someone as digging knives into his heart, lungs, and head. Street Commander, meanwhile, went into a crouch with his arms raised in self-defense. “My move!” Electra shouted, adding a third card to her hand. Toshiro groaned and went on all fours as more pain washed over him.
Electra – 2500 Toshiro – 1600, 2 Poison Counters
Electra began laughing at the sight of the suffering teenager. “This duel is over!” Toshiro barely managed to raise his head to observe Soul Reaver Dragon gathering a ball of energy in its maw. “What…?” “Toshiro, this is Soul Reaver Dragon’s second ability!” Electra announced. “Instead of attacking, I can deal direct damage to your Life Points equal to the level of a Synchro Monster in my graveyard times 200!” “NO!” Jaya screamed. “Hyper Psychic Blaster’s Level is 8,” Electra explained, “so you will take 1600 damage, which will reduce you to exactly ZERO!” Toshiro bowed his head again, not meeting the vixen’s gaze. “You fought hard Toshiro,” Electra allowed, “but you were way out of your league. Now, the Dragons of Virtue are mine!” “TOSHIRO!” Jaya cried, tears streaming down her face. “Soul Reaver Dragon, end this!” Electra ordered. “FLAMES OF THE NETHERWORLD!” The dragon unleashed its stored energy which consumed Toshiro and threw up a curtain of black smoke that hid him from view from all other players. “ELECTRA, YOU B****!” Jaya hollered, activating her duel disk as she did so. “I’LL TAKE YOU DOWN MYSELF!” “No, Jaya!” Electra, Jaya, Mara, and Tokyro stared in amazement at the fading smoke. Surely, it couldn’t be… “WHAT?!” Electra shrieked. Toshiro Henry, although he looked a little worse for the wear, was standing tall, a Trap Card open in front of him. A faint blue chord connected his heart to the image on the card.
Electra – 2500 Toshiro – 0
“Toshiro!” Jaya exclaimed happily. “HOW?!” Electra demanded. Toshiro was grinning madly. “Electra, there is always one spark of hope left remaining, no matter how dark the night gets! My Trap Card, which is fittingly named Last Hope, lets me live when my Life Points hit zero. I am not affected by Battle or Effect damage for the rest of the game, and I can only lose when you destroy my Trap Card!” Electra’s eyes were wide and shaking madly in their sockets. “Impossible…” “My move!” Toshiro announced, adding a third card to his hand. “Electra, your dragon (3000 ATK) falls now!” Electra managed to snap herself out of her stupor. “What do you mean?!” “When I activated Last Hope,” Toshiro explained, “it destroyed all other cards in my Spell/Trap Zone! Therefore, Street Commander regains 1000 ATK! (2500 à 3500 ATK)” Electra merely gaped like a goldfish as the two heroes rose from their crouches and tensed for battle. “Street Commander, attack!” Toshiro ordered. “Street Justice!” Street Commander leapt in the air and flew towards Soul Reaver Dragon, who fired a blast of energy and raked the air with its claws. However, the hero managed to evade both attacks and retaliated with a punch to the neck, which made the dragon explode into pixels.
Electra – 2000 Toshiro – 0
“Diamond Dude, it’s your turn to attack!” Electra looked up and was blown back by a hailstorm of diamond shards launched from Diamond Dude’s palm.
Electra – 600 Toshiro – 0
“Next, I set one card facedown and end my turn,” Toshiro concluded, his two heroes returning to their positions in front of him. Electra staggered upright and, panting heavily, drew her next card. “I activate my Trap Card: Telekinetic Maelstrom!” “What does that do?” Toshiro wondered “When I have five or more Psychic Monsters removed from play, I can destroy all monsters on your side of the field!” The sky above the playing field seemed to erupt in a cacophony of colors: purple, red, yellow, blue…suddenly, two bolts of energy flew from the sky and incinerate the two heroes standing in front of Toshiro. “Now, I activate Banishment of the Waste!” Electra shouted. “This Spell Card removes twenty Monsters in my deck from the game!” “But why would she do that?!” Mara wondered. “She’s now left with almost no deck!” “Next, I summon Psyber Synchron!” Electra announced. Her new Tuner was another robot, but this one was built like the ones you’d see in Terminator. Two purple eyes defined the skull-like face. “Psyber Synchron is a special Tuner who can return monsters that are removed from play to the graveyard instead of using monsters in play,” Electra explained. “So I tune my Psyber Synchron with my Psyber Dragon and nine other monsters that are removed from play!” Psyber Synchron’s eyes seemed to glow brighter as his body dissolved into a gaping purple and black vortex. Miniscule pictures the non-Tuner monsters—which included Psyber Dragon—arranged themselves so they formed a perfect decagon. “The infinite power of reality shall be bent against its will to create the ultimate weapon of destruction!” The ten cards burned with a purple fire, and an equally purple light shot from the depths of the abyss. “Rend the continuum, Psyber Infinite Revolver Dragon!” Electra’s newest Synchro monster was twice the size of Soul Reaver Dragon. From head to tail is measured forty feet long. The closer to the cannon head the body got, the thick it became. About half-way up, two circles—about 10 feet in diameter—sprouted outwards. These circles were armed with cannons that were aimed at Toshiro. When it had finished uncoiling, the head was scraping Torn World’s dome. (Level ?, 0/0)
Electra – 1100 Toshiro – 0
“An undetermined Level and zero base stats?!” Toshiro exclaimed. “I don’t trust it for a second!” “You shouldn’t,” Electra sniggered. “For every monster used to summon it, Infinite Revolver Dragon can attack that many times. Also, I take no Battle Damage in battles involving this monster.” “That thing’s rigged!” Tokyro roared. Too right it is… Toshiro thought, trying to figure out a way around this beast. “But before attacking, I’ll activate by Shockwave Cannon Equip Spell!” Electra announced as Psyber Infinite Revolver Dragon’s head morphed into a bazooka with a gaping muzzle. “Now when my monster attacks, if I deal damage, I can destroy one Spell or Trap card on the field!” “But it has zero ATK!” Toshiro protested. Electra smirked. “Did I mention that Shockwave Cannon gives my monster 500 ATK? (0 à 500 ATK)” Toshiro grimaced as the bazooka powered up. “Reality Shockwave!” Electra shouted. A yellow ball of lighting flew towards Toshiro. If something didn’t intervene, the connection that was keeping Toshiro alive would be severed. “I activate my Steadfast Trap Card!” Toshiro shouted. “This makes all Battle Damage zero!” The discharged lightning passed through Toshiro, but it did not have any effect. “Also, Steadfast lets me draw an extra card.” Electra snorted and slid the final card in her hand into her Spell/Trap Zone. “I end my turn.” Toshiro closed his eyes and laid his fingers on his deck. He had drawn one of the two pieces already…he just needed one more card. Slowly, the piece of cardboard was detached from the deck and held up to Toshiro’s face. He opened his eyes… And the mark on his arm lit up like a beacon. Electra noticed the change. “What?!” “Electra!” Toshiro shouted. “This duel’s over!” Everyone present was amazed. “How?!” Electra demanded. “I activate Destiny’s Call!” Toshiro shouted, holding the Spell Card aloft. “When I have three or more Destiny Heroes in my graveyard, I can summon a Dragon of Virtue in my hand!” “WHAT?!” “BEHOLD, DESTINY DRAGON!” Toshiro roared, slamming the card onto his duel disk, which began to glow with multi-colored energy. A diagram of light—the same that the four friends had seen than day on the roof—appeared behind him, and a light pushed back the dark. When Electra could see, she was staring at a majestic silver dragon, whose scales shone like the sun. It had two whisker-like objects that hung from the sides of its snout. Two beady black eyes stared the mechanical beast opposite it. (3000 ATK) “Incredible…” Jaya breathed. “Destiny Dragon, attack!” Toshiro ordered. “FATE’S FIRESTORM!” Destiny Dragon gathered a ball of fire in its maw and fired it at Infinite Revolver Dragon… “Go Trap Card!” Electra shouted with glee. “Grip of the Underworld!” As the purple card flipped up, a ghost hand erupted from the ground and gripped Destiny Dragon. After a brief struggle, the dragon screeched and exploded. “No…” Tokyro breathed. “She destroyed it so easily!” Mara exclaimed. “My Grip of the Underworld card destroys an attacking monster and, instead of conducting my draw phase, and I can destroy one card on the field at the cost of 1000 Life Points!” Electra cackled loudly. “Toshiro! Your last hope has been destroyed! Give up your foolish dreams and bow to me!” Toshiro smirked. “Sorry Electra, but the joke’s on you!” “What?!” “Whenever my Destiny Dragon is destroyed, I can summon a Destiny Hero from anywhere!” Toshiro announced, and the silver armored form of Dasher reappeared in a blaze of light. “Next, Destiny Dragon’s effect activates!” Toshiro continued. “When there is a Destiny Hero in play, I can equip my dragon to it!” Dasher was enveloped by the ghostly form of Destiny Dragon, and Dasher’s eyes began glowing red. “For each Destiny Hero in my graveyard, Dasher gains 500 ATK! (2100 + 1500 = 3600 ATK)” Dasher’s right arm began to glow golden, and the ghostly head of dragon began to form. Electra chuckled nervously. “But…but I take no damage in battles involving Psyber Infinite Revolver Dragon!” Toshiro’ smirked grew. “Oh, but if that’s the case, then why did you set that Trap?” Electra stared in fear as Toshiro continued: “If you wouldn’t take any battle damage, then why set the card? There would be no need. I bet there’s a stipulation to that no-damage clause, right? Psyber Infinite Revolver Dragon’s ATK has to stay at 0 in order for it to work!” Electra took a step back and Dasher began to rise into the air. “This is the end, Electra!” Toshiro shouted. “Dasher, attack!” Dasher raised its right arm, and it was enveloped with gold flame. “SOUL’S FURY!!” With roar, Dasher brought his arm down, and the impact opened a chasm, from which golden flames erupted and consumed everything in its path. The mechanical dragon roared and exploded, and Electra shrieked as she felt the power of the Virtuous Ones enter her veins and began the purification process.
Electra – 0 Toshiro – 0, winner due to Last Hope’s effect
Sarah’s figure crumpled to the ground, smoke rolling off her in waves. “Sarah!” Toshiro shouted as the holograms vanished. He, Jaya, Mara, and Tokyro all ran towards her prone form. Just as they had lifted her into a sitting position, the door to the roof burst open and Greg, Violet, and Kaiba Corp security burst through. “Toshiro!” the victor’s father yelled. “What happened?!” Toshiro looked up, Sarah propped up against his chest. “Change,” he whispered, feeling his eyes close. In a moment, he was fast asleep, lying on the Kaiba Corp roof.
