Episode 10: “Final Judgment”
Toshiro looked out the window at the arriving figures. One was Ariel Rhodes, famous ballet dancer and Jaya’s cousin. The other was the victor, Crystal Anderson, daughter of Johan Anderson.
Jaya walked up next to him, her arms folded. “Seen Tokyro and Mara?” she asked.
Toshiro rolled his eyes at her. “Tokyro’s pigging out in the cafeteria again, and Mara’s in the lounge looking at her cards.”
Suddenly, a girl with blonde hair darted past them and rushed outside. Toshiro noticed that she pretty much flattened Ariel with a hug.
He nudged Jaya and pointed and the newcomer. “Who’s she?”
Jaya groaned and covered her eyes. “Oh God no…”
Toshiro glanced at her. “Well?”
Jaya appeared not to hear him. “I thought she was home…”
“Who is she?!” Toshiro snarled.
Jaya looked at him sadly. “My…sister.”
Toshiro stared at her as the door opened and the blonde girl re-entered, dragging a bemused Ariel behind her. Toshiro now saw she was wearing white jeans, purple jacket with white lines running down the sleeves. Underneath the jacket was a white T-shirt. The girl’s eyes were brown like Jaya’s. She hardly looked 15.
The girl was chatting animatedly. “Did you see that Jaya’s here too? She’ll want to see you. It’s been ages since we’ve all been together. Did you see that Toshiro Henry? He won his duel! I’ve always wanted to meet him, his family’s amazing. Not to mention that he so adorable…”
Toshiro glanced at Jaya, who was fighting the urge to laugh. “I think I’ll just make my exit now…”
Unfortunately, Ariel caught his eye.
“Hey Clara, there’s your sister. And look who’s next to her…”
Oh s***, thought Toshiro.
Clara turned and saw the pair and her eyes literally lit up. “JAYA!” she screamed, running to her sister and hugging her tightly.
“How are you? Why did you leave me behind? Did you win? Is that Toshiro? Can I meet him? Can you introduce me?”
Jaya was starting to turn blue, so Toshiro gently pried Clara’s arms off her…
Only to have her hugging him instead. “Toshiro! I’ve wanted to me you forever! Can you sign my shirt? You are my hero and my sweetheart! You’re sooo strong and handsome and cool and handsome…”
Jaya was using the wall to support herself, she was laughing so hard. Toshiro managed to separate himself from Clara and panted. “Nice…to…meet you too…Clara…”
Clara squealed, “TOSHIRO TALKED TO ME!!”
Everyone in the room stared at them. Grinding his teeth, Toshiro dragged Jaya and Clara over to the lounge and threw them into chairs.
“Right.” He snarled. “I’m absolutely fed up. I am forced to wait for my next duel, my friend’s family shows up, I have a fan girl with lungs louder than a friggin’ baby’s, and to top it off, I’m in a crappy mood. So what the HELL is going on?!”
Jaya opened her mouth when suddenly the doors burst open.
Toshiro spun around: the figure who had caused the disturbance was definitely female: her curves were showing underneath her black robes. On her left arm was a black duel disk with a royal blue jewel imbedded in the life point counter. Her hood was raised, so her features were obscured. However, Toshiro was sure that he had seen her before.
The figure didn’t move for a half a second; Toshiro guessed that she was scanning the room. Then she faced the secretary and said “Sorry I’m late. Traffic was a b****.”
Toshiro stared at the figure as she exchanged quiet words with the secretary. The voice…it sounded familiar.
Suddenly, the mysterious female turned around and stared seemingly at Toshiro. Her gaze pierced straight through him as would a dagger. “Ah. My opponent has arrived.”
Toshiro looked blankly at her. “Me?”
“No.” The figure pointed behind him. “Her.”
Toshiro turned and saw that the person she was pointing at was none other than Clara.
“Me?” Clara asked blankly.
“Her?” Jaya and Toshiro asked, equally blankly.
“Her” the figure said, putting an end to the discussion.
Toshiro glanced at the secretary, who looked strangely blank too. Something’s weird going on here…
Toshiro looked up and saw Clara walking outside with the mystery person. Jaya was running behind them, trying to talk sense into her sister. Toshiro hurried after them as they stopped in the middle of the road.
Toshiro came to a halt next to Jaya as the other two figures stood apart. “They’re gonna do it?” he asked.
Jaya nodded. “Clara’s never really dueled anyone before. I hope that she won’t succumb to the pressure.”
“What deck does she use?”
Jaya looked at him. “Similar to your mom’s”
Toshiro opened his mouth then closed it, and then looked back at Clara, who had just finished shuffling her deck and sliding it into the deck slot on the duel disk.
“Ready?” asked the cloaked figure.
Clara nodded, apparently unable to speak.
“Well then, let’s duel!” cackled the unidentified female (now will be identified as MP).
Clara – 4000 MP – 4000
The two duelists drew five cards. Clara’s hand consisted of Bountiful Artemis, Forced Back, Solemn Judgment, Gellenduo, and Sanctuary in the Sky. MP drew Armed Dragon LV3, Double Summon, Sakuretsu Armor, Level Up!, and Mirror Force. Clara went first.
Clara drew her first card. (Freed the Brave Wanderer) “I summon Bountiful Artemis in ATK mode! (1600 ATK)” In a flash, a metallic fairy with an hourglass body and white feathered wings appeared. “Next I set two cards facedown (Forced Back and Solemn Judgment) and end my turn.”
MP drew her next card. (Armed Dragon LV5) “I summon Armed Dragon LV3 in ATK mode! (1220 ATK(” in a flash, the orange and white dragon with small wings appeared.
“Trap Card, go!” Clara shouted. “My Forced Back card will negate the summoning of your monster and send it back to your hand!”
Just as the dragon materialized, a sparkling aura surrounded it and made it vanish.
Clara’s opponent made no reaction. She just continued with her turn. “I activate Double Summon, which allows me to re-summon Armed Dragon LV3” in a flash, small dragon reappeared. “Next, I activate Level Up. This lets me sacrifice my monster to summon Armed Dragon LV5 (2400 ATK).” The outline of an armored dragon appeared behind its owner.
“Trap Card go!” Clara shouted again. “My Solemn Judgment will negate your Level Up at the cost of half my LP.”
The outline of the dragon was surrounding by a purple light and vanished and Armed Dragon LV3 reappeared.
Clara – 2000 MP – 4000
“What’s more, my Bountiful Artemis’ ability activates!” Clara announced. “Since I activated two Counter Trap Cards, I can draw two cards! (Voltanis the Adjudicator; Negate Attack )”
MP merely nodded. “I set two cards facedown (Mirror Force and Sakuretsu Armor) and end my turn.”
“Draw!” Clara announced (Pot of Greed). “I activate my Pot of Greed to draw two cards. (Shining Angel and Double Summon) Now I activate my Sanctuary in the Sky Field Spell!” In a flash, the two duelists were surrounded by blue skies with clouds as their earth. A golden shrine rose up behind Clara. “Next, I summon Gellenduo in ATK mode! (1700 ATK)” In a flash, two brightly colored blobs encircled by a golden ring appeared. “Next, I activate Double Summon to summon my Shining Angel! (1400 ATK)” In a flash, a man with a white toga with white wings appeared. “Now, my three monsters, direct attack and finish this duel!”
“Trap Card go.” MP ordered calmly. “Mirror Force will destroy all your attack position monsters.”
The three fairies leapt into the air and unleashed three arrows of light, only to have them intercepted by a mirror wall and be blown apart by their own attack.
Clara scowled. “I’ll set one card facedown and end my turn.”
Mp slowly drew her next card. (Pot of Greed) “I activate Pot of Greed to draw two cards. (Graceful Charity and Armed Dragon LV10). “Next, I activate Graceful Charity to draw three more cards (Tornado Summon, Monster Reborn, and Armed Dragon LV7) and discard two (Armed Dragons LV5 and 7). Next, I activate Tornado Summon! This Spell Card will let me choose one Level 7 or higher monster in my hand and, ignoring all summoning conditions, Special Summon it to the field! So rise, Armed Dragon LV10! (3000 ATK)” In a flash, the large dragon encased in silver armor appeared. “Now the second effect of Tornado Summon activates! If the Special Summoned monster is of the Wind Attribute, all Spell and Trap Cards on the field are destroyed!”
Suddenly, a gigantic gust of wind tore through the field, destroying all facedown cards on it. The area surrounding the two duelists reverted back to the normal city background.
Toshiro glared critically at the field. Clara’s good…but not good enough.
“Armed Dragon LV10, direct attack!” MP ordered, pointing at her defenseless opponent. “Finish this!”
The dragon opened its maw and unleashed a torrent of red flame at Clara, blasting her off her feet.
Clara – 0 MP – 4000
Jaya hurried over the Clara and helped her sit up. “Sis…” she whispered.
Clara grinned weakly. “That person…she was powerful…even I could sense that…”
Toshiro glanced at MP, who had turned around, as if to leave. “Hey, you!”
MP stopped and slightly turned back to face him. “Yes?”
Toshiro glared and slightly hefted his duel disk. “Who are you?”
MP chuckled slightly before turning around again and walking away. “It’s not your time to face me, Toshiro Henry. However, I will tell you who will defeat you in the future.
“The name is Electra.”
