Yu-Gi-Oh! The Four Virtues

Episode 12: “Light Boundary”

Tokyro stared as Toshiro hobbled into the Kaiba Corp lounge. “You look like hell” he remarked.

Toshiro grimaced as he collapsed into a nearby by. “I feel like it too”

Tokyro walked over and sat next to friend. “There’s been word of an attack against a civilian in downtown Neo Domino.”

Toshiro flinched. “How…how is he?”

Interesting. How did he know that the vic was a male? Tokyro wondered. He pushed the thought aside for now. “Pretty bad. His face is essentially shattered, and there were some internal bleeding too. But the docs said that he should make it. The cops are looking for the suspect, though. Apparently the vic could’ve been killed.”

Toshiro looked gaunt, his eyes haunted. “Well, let’s hope they catch the guy then.” He straightened, then winced and held his stomach.

Tokyro stared. “You okay?”

Toshiro slightly smiled. “I’ve seen better days.” He rose unsteadily to feet. “Have they announced the first match of the second round yet?”

Tokyro shook his head. “Not yet, but probably any minute now.”

Right on cue, a voice blared over the loudspeaker. “Attention! Attention please, the first match of Round Two will commence! Will Fate Takuma and Toshiro Henry report to the starting line!”

Toshiro started walking unsteadily to the doors until someone stepped in front of him. It was a man with black hair and brown eyes. He had a black trench coat but white shirt and pants underneath. And he looked familiar…

Toshiro’s jaw dropped. “Jeremy?! What the hell are you doing here?!”

Jeremy smirked. “Toshiro…as if you didn’t know…”

Toshiro stared. “Well, I’d love to catch up, but I’ve got a duel to attend to, so if you would be so kind to step out of the way, then I can attend to you later.”

Tokyro walked up behind Toshiro. “Who’s this jack***?”

Toshiro waved his friend off. “An annoyance.”

Jeremy took several steps back and raised his black duel disk, which had been hidden under the trench coat. “Duel me now, Henry. I don’t care if you’ve got a prior engagement. I’m settling the score with you…now!”

Toshiro took an equal amount of steps back and slightly raised his duel disk. “I really don’t have time for this…but I never turn down a challenge!”

Tokyro gaped at him. “What?! You’ll miss your duel!”

Toshiro glared at Jeremy and slowly reached to his waist for his deck…

“Toshiro, no!” a crisp voice said.

Toshiro turned and saw a familiar figure: a girl with blonde hair that reached her waist. Her eyes were dark blue and she was wearing ripped jeans, a black tank top, and a black jacket that was shorter than the tank top. “Sarah?!”

Tokyro looked at the reigning champion. “Holy crap…she is as beautiful as the TV version…”

Sarah swiftly stepped between the two enemies and faced Jeremy. “Toshiro, go and duel Miss Takuma. I’ll take care of this trash.” She did indeed look ready to duel, with a duel disk already strapped to her arm.

Toshiro grinned. “Thanks Sarah.” Motioning with his hand to Tokyro, the two walked towards the sliding glass doors that led to the starting line.

“You never told me you met her!” Tokyro hissed.

Toshiro smirked as the emerged into the outdoors. “Slipped my mind.”

“How the hell did you meet her?!” Tokyro exclaimed as the two approached Toshiro’s D-Wheel.

“She’s the one who got me into this damn tournament!”

“How did—?”

“Toshiro!”

The two boys turned and saw a female with purple eyes and wearing a white jacket to complement her white jeans and blue shirt. “Fate!” Toshiro exclaimed. “I thought you weren’t going to show up!”

Fate stopped short and stared at him. “What the hell happened to you?!” she exclaimed, noting Toshiro’s scratches and the way he was hunched over. “You look like hell!”

Toshiro half smirked. “I’ve heard that a lot lately.”

“Seriously Toshiro, you need to see the doctor!” Fate cried.

“Okay, okay!” Toshiro exclaimed. “God, you’re like my mother!”

Suddenly, the voice in the loudspeaker said “Duelists, to your D-Wheels!”

Fate and Toshiro walked to their bikes. As Toshiro slipped on his helmet, he heard Fate give a little cry. Spinning, he saw her clutch her head as if it pained her. “Fate? You okay?”

Fate breathed deeply a few times before nodding. “I’m…I’m fine.”

Toshiro walked over to look her over. “You sure?”

“I said I was fine Toshiro!” she snapped.

He put a hand on her shoulder. “Hey, I’m sorry.” He said. “I—”

Suddenly, he was blasted off his feet by an unseen force. “DON’T TOUCH ME!” Fate screamed.

Toshiro rose shakily to his feet, his hands clutching his stomach. “Fate…what’s wrong? Let me…”

“I DON’T WANT YOUR HELP!” Fate shouted. Toshiro noticed that her voice had grown deeper and her eyes had started to glow.

Toshiro walked over to his D-Wheel. “Well then, I guess the only way to knock sense into you is to duel you.”

Fate leapt onto her D-Wheel and slipped on her helmet. “Prepare, Toshiro Henry. You will face my full power!”

Toshiro climbed onto his D-Wheel and activated Duel Mode. “Let’s Go!”

“DUEL!” As one, the two duelists gunned their motors and sped down the road, with Fate in front.

Toshiro – 4000             Fate – 4000

Toshiro drew his opening hand, and then his draw card. (Destiny Hero Disk Commander, Destiny Signal, D Shield, Destiny Hero Fear Monger, Angel Lift, Destiny Hero Dasher) “I summon Destiny Hero Disk Commander in DEF mode! (300 DEF)” In a flash, the humanoid in the blue jumpsuit appeared, with silver disks surrounding him. “I then set three cards facedown (Destiny Signal, D Shield, and Angel Lift) and end my turn.”

Fate drew her card and looked at her new hand: Light Boundary, Arcana Force I – The Magician, Arcana Force VII – The Chariot, Arcana Call, Arcana Force, and Sakuretsu Armor. “I summon Arcana Force VII – The Chariot in ATK mode!” she shouted. In a flash, a float machine with an eye on the bottom of its body and many tentacles appeared. (1700 ATK) “Now its ability activates!” A holographic card of the Chariot appeared above the monster’s head and began to rotate. “Choose your fate, Toshiro Henry!”

Toshiro glanced up at the card. “Stop now!”

The card stopped in an upright position. “Now my monster, attack Disk Commander! Arcana Force Bullet!”

Each of the tentacles targeted the hero, blue energy glowing at the heads. Suddenly, thousands of streams of blue light crashed into the hero, blowing it apart.

“Trap Card open!” Toshiro commanded. “My Destiny Signal lets me summon a monster from my deck, so come out Destiny Hero Diamond Dude! (1400 ATK)” In a flash, the male with the green cape and diamonds protruding from his arms appeared.

Fate cackled. “My monster’s effect activates! Since I destroyed Disk Commander in battle, I can special summon it to my side of the field!”

Toshiro smirked. “Nope”

Fate looked back, startled. “What?”

“Trap Card go!” Toshiro shouted. “My Angel Lift will bring back my Disk Commander in DEF mode before your body-snatching monster can get it!” In a flash, the blue-clad male reappeared, surrounded by his disks.

“And thanks to his ability, I can draw two cards! (Speed Draw and Card Booster)” Toshiro added.

Fate scowled. “I set two cards facedown (Arcana Force and Sakuretsu Armor) and then activate Light Boundary!” In a flash, the entire field was surrounded by a gold circle bathed in golden light.

Toshiro glanced around. “What does it do?”

“You’ll see.’ Fate said mysteriously. “Now start your turn.”

Toshiro drew his next card. (Reinforcement of the Army) “I sacrifice my Disk Commander to summon Destiny Hero Dasher! (2100 ATK)” In a flash, the sliver armored hero appeared. “Next, I activate Diamond Dude’s ability! I send the top card of my deck to the graveyard and if it’s a Normal Spell Card I can activate it next turn! Now Dasher, attack The Chariot! Speed Spin Kick!”

Dasher leapt at the machine and launched into a spin, his right leg coming up to deliver the fatal blow…

“Trap Card open!” Fate shouted. “My Sakuretsu Armor will destroy your monster!”

Dasher stopped in mid-kick as he was surrounded by a purple aura. With a groan, he exploded.

Toshiro scowled. “I set two cards facedown (Speed Draw and Card Booster), switch Diamond Dude to DEF mode (1600 DEF), and end my turn” Just as he finished, the caped hero went to one knee, arms crossed protectively in front of his body.

Fate drew her next card. (Scapegoat) “Light Boundary’s effect activates!” A holographic card appeared above her head.

Toshiro opened his mouth, but Fate shouted, “Arcana Force activate! With this card, once per turn I can choose one ability of an Arcana monster or their field spell! So Light Boundary stays upright!”

Toshiro scowled as Fate continued. “Next, I summon Arcana Force I – The Magician in ATK mode! (1100 ATK)” In a flash, the silver jester-like person appeared. “Since Light Boundary is upright, I can choose my monster’s ability, so it will stay upright! Now Chariot, destroy Diamond Dude!” The monster’s thousand bursts of energy shredded the hero apart. “Now Diamond Dude is special summoned to my side of the field!” In a flash, the caped crusader reappeared, but wit ha red aura surrounding him. “Now my monsters, double direct attack!”

The Magician unleashed a blast of sliver energy while Diamond Dude fired two blasts of diamonds at Toshiro, making the bike swerve dangerously and cutting Toshiro’s outfit, drawing blood in several places.

Toshiro – 1500             Fate – 4000

Toshiro righted his bike and drew his next card. (Last Stand of Destiny) “I activate Destined Fusion!”

As the black vortex opened behind him, Fate turned and shouted. “How?!”

Toshiro smirked. “This was the card that I sent to the graveyard with Diamond Dude’s ability.”

Fate stared blankly for a moment, and then laughed. “What does it matter? You have no monster in your deck that you can summon!”

Toshiro bowed his head…then smiled. “For a mistress of fate, you do seem to screw up a lot.”

Fate’s eyes widened. “What?”

“I remove Dasher and Disk Commander from the game to summon a new Hero of Destiny!”

The two heroes leapt backwards and disappeared into the vortex, which began to glow and crackle with electricity.

“The silent defender shall show himself, and bring forth harsh justice!”

Suddenly, a light brighter than the sun’s erupted from the vortex.

“Drive onwards, Destiny Hero Street Commander!” Toshiro shouted.

The new hero had gold body armor, with black armor for his legs and hands. His head was protected by a helmet, and he wore mini-jet engines on his thighs and shoulders. (3000 ATK)

“Street Commander, lets bring back our friend!” Toshiro shouted. “Attack Diamond Dude with Street Justice Attack!”

Street Commander activated his jetpacks, and sped towards the hero. He drove into him fist first, blowing a hole into his stomach and turning Diamond Dude to pixels.

Toshiro – 1500             Fate – 2400

“That end my turn” Toshiro said as his hero returned to its rightful place.

Fate drew her next card. (Pot of Greed) “I activate Pot of Greed to draw two cards (Monster Reborn and Arcana Force EX – The Light Ruler). Next, I activate Monster Reborn to bring back your Diamond Dude!” In a flash, the caped male reappeared. “Next, I sacrifice my three monsters to summon Arcana Force EX – The Light Ruler!”

The three monsters surrounding Fate disappeared into the sky as little balls of light. Suddenly, the earth shook as a monstrous creature rose up behind its master. It was robotic, covered in black metal. Two dragon heads protruded from its back and its red eye glowed. A tail was curved around him and its clawed legs supported the body weight.

“With Light Boundary’s ability, I can now make it so that The Light Ruler retains its upside-right ability. Now my monster, destroy Destiny Hero Street Commander!”

The two dragon heads opened their maws and began gathering energy…

“DESTINY SMITE!”

The heads unleashed white blasts of energy at the hero, blowing two holes in its torso and colliding with Toshiro’s bike and creating a fierce wind. The D-Wheel began to shudder and spin wildly.

“Dance, Toshiro!” Fate cackled. “Dance to destiny’s tune!”

Toshiro scowled, and with momentous effort, righted the vehicle.

Toshiro – 500               Fate – 2400

The two duelists were being buffeted by the wind. “Fate, stop this!” Toshiro pleaded, controlling his D-Wheel with one hand as he attempted to shield himself from the sand and dirt flying around. “Let me help!”

“You can’t…” Fate replied, sounding close to tears now. “No one can. Only Castor. Castor is everything to me! He understands me when no one else does! He accepts me! He thinks for me! With him, I don’t need to worry about anything, for he will take care of it!”

“You need to think for yourself!” Toshiro shouted above the gale.

Fate shook her head violently. “I CAN’T!!” she hollered.

Toshiro just watched helplessly as Fate was surrounded by a purple aura. When she spoke again, it was in a gravelly male voice. “Now proceed with your final turn, Toshiro Henry. Then surrender yourself to destiny!”

Toshiro glared. “Castor, you’re right about one thing, this will be my final turn…but yours as well!”

Fate-Castor turned back. “What?”

“Street Commander’s effect activate!” Toshiro called out. “With his destruction I can draw a card in addition to my regular draw! (Destiny Hero Plasma and Burial From a Different Dimension) I activate Burial From a Different Dimension! With this, I can return Disk Commander and Dasher back to the graveyard!"

"How will that help you?!" Fate/Castor cackled.

Toshiro smirked. "Now I activate Last Stand of Destiny! With this spell card I can remove monsters in my graveyard from the game in order to pay for a sacrifice! So I remove Disk Commander, Diamond Dude, and Dasher from the game to summon Destiny Hero Plasma! (1900 ATK)”

The hero looked very much like a vampire. It had blood colored robes, large claws, and three spikes coming out of his upper back. Leathery wings came out of the back as well and the beast also had a large tail.

“Oh no!” Fate-Castor shouted. “Not that!”

Toshiro smirked. “I see my monster’s reputation has preceded itself. Now I can steal your monster and equip it to mine, increasing Plasma’s ATK by half of The Light Ruler’s! (1900à3900 ATK)”

“No…I can’t lose!”

“PLASMA, DIRECT ATTACK!”

Plasma leapt up into the maelstrom and cupped its hands…

“UNLOCK HER HEART!” Toshiro cried upward, flinging his last hope to the heavens. “FATE REVERSAL!”

A single disk of purple energy shot out of the hands, knocking Fate’s bike off-balance and making it crash. Suddenly, the wind stopped and Toshiro had to skid to a halt to avoid crashing into a wall.

Toshiro – 500               Fate – 0

Toshiro yanked off his helmet and ran over to Fate’s prone form on the tarmac. She had been thrown off her D-Wheel when it crashed. “Fate! Fate!! Wake up! Please wake up!”

Fate groaned as he lifted her onto his lap. Her left cheek was cut up and bleeding and dirt caked her hair and face. He gently brushed locks of her hair off her forehead. “Fate…”

Suddenly, someone began to cackle. Lifting his head, he saw a man with black hair reaching the middle of his back and bangs covering one blue eye standing above him. The man also wore a black trench coat, leather boots, black polo shirt, and a white belt. Toshiro could only guess at who this man was. “Castor…”

Castor smirked coolly. “Foolish girl…I told her to separate herself from her feelings. I told her to feel nothing, and focus her powers, hone them to become stronger. And she paid the price for her naivety.”

Toshiro scowled and glared at Castor as he began to laugh. “Castor…you will pay for this…”

He turned to leave, trench coat swirling. “Perhaps Toshiro...perhaps. But I should warn you: My powers are nothing like Ms. Takuma’s. I am more powerful than you can possibly imagine.”

Toshiro watched him fade into a dark alleyway. “Castor, I don’t care how powerful you are, you will be defeated.”

He looked back down at the unconscious body in his arms. “And for some reason, I think I know who will deal that crushing blow…”
