Yu-Gi-Oh! The Four Virtues

Episode 2: “Acceleration!”

The rain was coming down hard. He felt it pounding on the back of his head. But he did not pay attention, or bother to get up. He stayed on the ground, on his knees, staring at the dirt beneath him.

Above him, the victor stared down at him, grinning maliciously as he held the prize in his hand. “You’re no duelist. You let your soul leave you. You’re trash. You’re lower than trash.

“You’re nothing”

Toshiro looked up and saw ghosts…ones that looked like his monsters…the ones that looked the ones that symbolized his family.

I’m sorry, he told them. I will get you back.

I’ll do whatever it takes.

“TOSHIRO!!”

Toshiro opened his eyes sleepily. “Aw, come on Mom! Let me sleep!”

Violet Henry stood above her son, staring down at him disapprovingly. “It’s you’re fault that you stayed up till the wee hours of the morning last night. So get you’re a** out of bed now. Your friends are waiting for you downstairs.”

Hearing this, Toshiro leapt out of bed and tried to run out of the room…only to run smack into a wall and fall on his rear end.

Rubbing his head, he rose to his feet and muttered “I really hate this wall”

Five minutes later, Toshiro made it to the kitchen, where his friends Jaya Yuki, Mara Truesdale, and Tokyro Malia were sitting at the table. Upon seeing him, they leapt to their feet and began talking at once. Holding a hand up, he silenced them all.

“For the love of all things holy,” he said, staggering to the coffee pot, “can I have a cup of coffee before you all start badgering me?”

About two minutes later, Toshiro drained the last of his second cup of coffee and set the mug on the table. “So…” he said, folding his arms and leaning against the back of the chair, “What did you want to tell me?”

“The tournament is starting today!” Mara exclaimed.

“Yeah, there’s rumored to be a lot of big names there, too!” Jaya added.

“And girls!” Tokyro interjected.

“The tournament starts with 16 duelists and then goes down to the final two” Jaya explained.

“And the winner gets a special prize!” Mara added.

“And there’s going to be girls!” Tokyro exclaimed.

Toshiro raised an eyebrow at Tokyro. “What’s with you and girls?”

Tokyro grinned. “I’m a teenage boy. Need I say more?”

“No” Jaya replied. “No, no, no…”

“Yeah, we don’t need a list of your exploits” Mara added.

“Are you going?” Jaya asked Toshiro, turning back to him.

Toshiro nodded. “Yeah. I guess I’d better. Since I’m entered and all.”

Tokyro spat out some coffee. “What?!” he choked out. “You entered?”

Toshiro nodded. “Yeah. Last night.”

Jaya stared at Toshiro. “I thought you weren’t going to a tournament until…he showed up?” she asked.

Toshiro smirked. “I did…but I just have a feeling that he’ll be there.” Toshiro looked at his watch. “Holy crap!” he exclaimed, leaping to his feet. “We’ve gotta go!”

While the others dashed outside to their D-Wheels, Toshiro hollered “Mom, we’re leaving!”

“Where?” she called back.

“To the tournament!” Toshiro replied, slamming his helmet on.

“Okay. Go get ‘em, kiddo!” Violet called back.

Toshiro grinned, ran out the door, leapt onto his D-Wheel, gunned the motor, and sped down the road with his friends.

Twenty minutes later, the group of four arrived outside Kaiba Corp, where a massive crowd was gathered. Toshiro stepped off his bike, took off his helmet, and scanned the crowd. “I only see 12 other duelists here” he remarked, pointing to the ones in front of the crowd, the people who were wearing duel disks.

Tokyro came next to him, his eyes gleaming. “Damn, look at all these girls!!” he exclaimed.

Toshiro shook his head and covered his eyes with his hand. “Why did I become your friend again?”

Tokyro smirked and nudged Toshiro. “Aw come on! You know you love me!”

Toshiro snorted and shoved Tokyro away. “You wish” Then he smirked. “Of course, you also wish that Mara loved you, but you can’t get everything, can you?”

Tokyro glared back. “Well, you wish that Jaya loved you, too!”

Toshiro rolled his eyes. “That was a while ago…”

“Well, well, well…” said a voice from behind him. “Toshiro Henry…”

Toshiro stiffened and clenched his fists. He knew that voice. “Sean…”

Toshiro turned around and saw the person who haunted his dreams: he had gold hair, brown eyes, and was wearing a white dress shirt and he also wore black denim jeans.

Sean smirked. “Where were you, Toshiro? Your cards are getting lonely!”

Toshiro snarled and took a step forward, only to be restrained by Tokyro. “Shut it you piece of trash! You better hope that you don’t face me first! If that happens, there won’t be enough of you to scrape off the pavement!”

Sean closed his eyes and smirked. “We’ll see about that…” he then walked away, making sure to bang into Toshiro as hard as he could. “See you around, loser”

Toshiro shoved Tokyro off him and took a deep breath. “Thanks, bud” he told his friend.

Tokyro put a hand on his shoulder. “You’ll get him.”

“Hey guys!” shouted a voice.

Toshiro looked back and saw Jaya running towards them. “What’s up?”

Jaya stopped in front of them. “The first duelists have been announced: Me and Britannica Misawa.”

Toshiro nodded. “Go for it”

Tokyro grinned. “Go get ‘em, tiger”

Jaya nodded and ran to her D-Wheel, where a girl with long black hair was standing next to a yellow D-Wheel, her helmet already on. “You ready?” asked Britannica.

Jaya climbed onto her red bike with a black flame job, put her helmet on, slid her arms into the arm rests, slid her deck into the slot on her arm, and nodded. Britannica, seeing the signal, climbed on to her bike and followed suit.

The duel duelists pressed a button on the D-Wheel and their duel disks folded into action mode and their computer terminal activated. “Duel Mode activated.” It said. “Auto-pilot on standby”

“Let’s Duel!” the two girls shouted. With that, they gunned their motors and shot down the road, Jaya in front.

Jaya – 4000                 Toshiro – 4000

“I’ll take the initiative!” Britannica announced. “Draw!” she looked at her 6-card hand: A-Army Tank, C-Missile Cannon, B-Battleship, Negate Attack, Frontline Base, and Formation Union. “I summon C-Missile Cannon in DEF mode! (2000 DEF)” In a flash of light, a small mounted cannon loaded with four missiles appeared in front of Britannica. “Next, I’ll set two cards facedown (Negate Attack and Formation Union) and end my turn.”

Jaya drew her next card, making her hand consist of Sparkman, Avian, Bubbleman, Polymerization, Pot of Greed, and Hero Signal. “I activate Polymerization! I fuse Elemental Heroes Avian, Bubbleman, and Sparkman together to form Elemental Hero Tempest! (2800 ATK)” In a flash of light, the famous hero with Avian’s head—and a visor—and wings, Sparkman’s body, Bubbleman’s colors, a claw gauntlet, and a futuristic blaster appeared in front of Jaya.

Jaya pointed behind her at Britannica. “Tempest, attack the Cannon! Thunderbubble Tornado!”

Tempest raised his blaster and unleashed a volley of energy at the cannon, only to have it absorbed by a purple shield.

Britannica smiled. “Sorry, buy I activated Negate Attack, which stops your attack and ends the battle phase.”

Jaya nodded. “I’ll just set one card facedown (Hero Signal) and end my turn.”

Britannica drew her next card. (Pot of Greed) “I activate Pot of Greed to draw two new cards (Quick Summon and Wiretapping). I now summon B-Battleship in ATK mode! (1600 ATK) In a flash of light, the gray naval ship appeared next to the cannon. “Next, I’ll activate Quick Summon so I can summon A-Army Tank! (1800 ATK” in another flash, the green tank with treads appeared as well.

Jaya raised an eyebrow. “And what do those things do?”

‘This!” Britannica said pointing to the sky. “Now my monsters, Union Fusion!”

The three monsters flew into the air and disappeared into a vortex. In a flash of light, behind Britannica stood an aircraft carrier that looked like it came straight from WWII. (2800 ATK)

“Behold, the ABC-Aircraft Carrier!” announced Britannica.

Jaya still looked skeptical. “What does it do?”

Britannica smirked. “Once per turn, I can summon an Aircraft Token in DEF mode (0 DEF)” in a flash, a small fighter jet appeared next to the huge ship. “Now with it’s ability, I can sacrifice it to destroy one monster on the field, like your Tempest!”

The small plane flew straight at the hero, ramming into its chest, making both monsters explode.

“This leaves you open to a direct attack!” Britannica announced triumphantly. “Aircraft Carrier, direct attack!”

The huge ship fired all its cannons at Jaya, causing her to lose speed and swerve dangerously.

Jaya – 1200                 Britannica – 4000

Scowling, Jaya drew her next card. (Polymerization) “I activate Pot of Greed to draw two cards. (Clayman and Graceful Charity) Next, I’ll use Graceful Charity to draw three (Burstinatrix, Necro Gardna, and Necroshade) and discard two (Necroshade and Gardna). Now I activate Polymerization to fuse Clayman and Burstinatrix together to form Elemental Hero Rampart Blaster! (2500 DEF)” In a flash the black armored hero with a red helmet, red shield, and a gun arm appeared crouching behind Jaya. “And thanks to his ability, it can attack you directly and deal you damage equal to half its ATK! Now my hero, attack with Rampart Barrage!”

The hero unleashed several missiles from its gun that smashed into Britannica’s bike, causing her to swerve slightly.

Jaya – 1200                 Britannica – 3000

Britannica drew her next card. (Shield Crush) ‘I activate Shield Crush! This destroys your Rampart Blaster since its in DEF mode!”

In a flash a laser cannon appeared in front of her and it fired a yellow blast at Rampart Blaster, blowing it into pieces.

“Now, my Aircraft Carrier, attack her directly!” Britannica commanded. “Finish this!”

The huge naval behemoth fired another round from all its guns, only to have them absorbed by a zombie-like person with armor.

“What happened?” Britannica exclaimed.

Jaya smiled. “I activated the ability of my Necro Gardna. By removing it from my graveyard from the game, I can negate one of your attacks.”

Britannica sighed. “Go”

Jaya drew her next card (Fifth Hope). “I activate Fifth Hope! I shuffle Clayman, Burstinatrix, Avian, Sparkman, and Bubbleman back into my deck and draw three cards. (Neos, Neos Force, and Miracle Fusion) I now activate the ability of my Elemental Hero Necroshade! Since it’s in the graveyard, I can summon a hero in my hand without tributes, so come out, Elemental Hero Neos! (2500 ATK)” In a flash of light, the famous silver hero with a red orb in its chest appeared on the field. “Now I activate Neos Force! This card, when equipped to Neos, gives him an extra 800 ATK (2500 ŕ 3300 ATK), enough to take down your monster! Now go, Neos! Cosmic Crush!”

Neos leapt into the air and brought his fist crashing down into the ship, making it explode.

Jaya – 1200                 Britannica – 2500

“And there’s more!” Jaya announced. “When he destroys a monster in battle, that monsters ATK is dealt to your LP!”

Britannica paled. “But that means…

“It’s over!” Jaya shouted triumphantly as she threw her bike into a skid. “Neos, finish this!”

Neos flew in front of Britannica and cupped his hands together, gathering energy together. When he was ready, a blast of light blue flame collided into Britannica, jerking her to a stop and making her terminal flash “Defeat” over and over again.

Jaya came to a stop and flashed her father’s winning pose. “That’s game!”

Britannica smirked. “Excellent match, Jaya Yuki. Let’s hope we duel again in the future”

Jaya nodded. “If you’re a Misawa…I know we will.”

Suddenly a horn blasted in the distance. “That’s the starting bell.” Britannica said.

“That means a new duel has started.” Jaya said as she revved the motor.

“Let’s go, then” Britannica replied and the two drove off in the direction of Kaiba Corp.
