Yu-Gi-Oh! The Four Virtues Episode 1: “Miraculous Revival”
The rain was coming down hard. He felt it pounding on the back of his head. But he did not pay attention, or bother to get up. He stayed on the ground, on his knees, staring at the dirt beneath him. Above him, the victor stared down at him, grinning maliciously as he held the prize in his hand. “You’re no duelist. You let your soul leave you. You’re trash. You’re lower than trash. “You’re nothing” A black shape darted through the shadows… “You’re nothing.” The pounding of footsteps… “Nothing” The crash… “Hey, who the…wait, I know you! You’re that kid! The son of…” “I’m a duelist.” Toshiro Henry interrupted, brushing a lock of black hair out of his eyes. “And the name’s Toshiro”
* * *
Toshiro Henry, 17 year old son of Gregory and Violet Henry, stared down at the man in front of him, who was busy picking up the cards that had scattered on the ground when he ran into him. “Who are you?” The man stopped for a second and looked up. “Jeremy Stevens. And you’re son of the infamous—” “Don’t…say…it…” Toshiro bit out, a hint of molten steel in his voice. Jeremy raised an eyebrow. “Sorry, didn’t mean to hit a nerve” he said sarcastically, looking at the deck he a finished reassembling, and counting the number of cards. Toshiro looked at the ground. Stupid jerk, he thought angrily. Why do people insist on not calling me by my real name? It’s not as if…wait a second… Toshiro cut his thoughts short as he noticed a card on the ground. Bending down, he picked it up. What’s this? He wondered, looking at it. Flipping the card over, he saw that it was the card Cyberdark Dragon. Wow, Toshiro thought, impressed. This is a really good card. Tournament caliber, in fact. In fact, I just saw it on TV just yesterday! It was the card the new champion, Sarah Smith, used beat her opponent and win the tournament! It’s a shame that her deck got stolen… Toshiro, by chance, looked up and saw Jeremy panicking, and something clicked. “Something wrong?” he asked Jeremy nodded frantically. “My deck...it’s missing a card…the trump card! It’s gone!!” Toshiro felt a hot wave of anger. “This one?” he snarled, flinging the card to Jeremy, who got it and stared. “Yes!” he cried. “This is it. Where did you—” He got cut short, however: Toshiro had pinned Jeremy against a brick wall, his hand at his throat. “Scum” Toshiro snarled. “You stole her deck!” “I…didn’t…” he rasped. “I…” “Shut up!!” Toshiro snapped. “You’re a filthy, stinking liar!” Jeremy was starting to turn blue, so Toshiro loosened his grip. That was his mistake: Jeremy forced Toshiro off him and dashed around the nearest corner. Toshiro naturally gave chase. He followed Jeremy through a network of alleyways, until he came to Main Street, and he skidded to a halt in the middle of the road. He looked right and left, but all was silent… Until a roar came from behind him. Startled, he spun around, his hair swinging, and saw Jeremy on a D-Wheel, a red one with a black flame job, driving towards him, intent on running him over. Toshiro dived out of the way just in time, but he still felt the ground shake as his quarry drove past him. Toshiro looked up at stared after him, his jaw clenched. “Oh, no you don’t” he muttered. He got up and dashed over to the D-Wheel next to him, a black one with silver bolts of lightning on the sides. He jumped on, put on the helmet that was sitting on the duel disk, slipped his arms into the arm rests, and gunned the motor. Within seconds he was speeding down the road, going 250 MPH. Toshiro’s eyes were narrowed, his eyes glued on his prey. Jeremy, you won’t get away with this. He thought. I will bring you to justice. He was catching up fast. But it would be at least 10 minutes before he caught up. Unless he did something unexpected. Toshiro swerved into the left lane and lined up with the parked car in front of him. Leaning back sharply, he did a pop-wheelie and managed to go on the car and used it as a ramp. He was flying through the air at least at 200 MPH. He looked down and saw that he had passed Jeremy. Leaning forward, he brought his D-Wheel crashing to the pavement in front of Jeremy. He skidded to a halt, forcing Jeremy to do the same. Jeremy stood up on his D-Wheel, his eyes blazing. “What the hell are you doing?!” Toshiro just stared back. “Give me the deck” Jeremy laughed. “Why should I obey some juvenile scum?” Toshiro snarled, lifting a hand to touch the yellow and red band on his face. “Duel me” Jeremy laughed even harder. “You?! You don’t even have a deck!” Toshiro opened the deck box near his left hip and held the deck up. “I’ve got some cards.” Jeremy smirked. “Fine. On two conditions: one, we do a Riding Duel. Two, if you lose, I get your deck.” Toshiro snarled once more. “Deal.” The two duelists started their bikes and lined up next to each other. They both pressed a button in front of them. With a beep, their duel disks folded out, their decks were shuffled (the decks are located on the left arm rest), and computer terminal on the dashboard turned on. “Duel Mode activated” said a computer voice. “Auto-pilot on standby” Toshiro gritted his teeth. “I’m ready” he told Jeremy, revving his bike. Jeremy sneered back and closed his visor. “Prepare to lose your deck…again.” Toshiro glanced at Jeremy, startled. How did he know about that? He thought, before shoving the thought aside. “Duel!” the duelists cried, before shooting forward, with Jeremy leading Toshiro.
Toshiro – 4000 Jeremy – 4000
The two duelists drew five cards. Toshiro had Destiny Hero Disk Commander, Destiny Draw, Destiny Hero Fear Monger, Destiny Hero Dasher, and D-Counter. Jeremy had Masked Dragon, Cyberdark Edge, Armed Dragon LV5, Sakuretsu Armor, and Armed Dragon LV10. “I’ll start things off!” called Jeremy, drawing his first card. (Cyberdark Horn) “I summon Masked Dragon in DEF mode! (1100 DEF)” In a flash, the red-and-white dragon appeared, it’s winged folded over its body. “I set a card facedown (Sakuretsu Armor) and end my turn” “My move then!” Toshiro announced, drawing his card. (Destiny Draw) “I activate Destiny Draw! By discarding my Disk Commander, I can draw two cards. (Pot of Greed and Destiny Hero Malicious) Next, I’ll activate my second Destiny Draw, discard my Malicious, and draw two more cards. (Angel Lift and Call of the Haunted) Next, I remove the Malicious in my graveyard from the game to summon on to the field!” in a flash, the demon-like hero with horns appeared. “Next, I’ll sacrifice him to summon Destiny Hero Dasher! (2100 ATK)” The new hero that replaced Malicious was decked out n silver armor and had wheels on the bottom of his feet. “Now Dasher, attack Masked Dragon! Speed Spin Kick!” The silver hero sped forward and delivered a spin kick to Masked Dragon’s head, making him explode. “I activate the ability of Masked Dragon!” Jeremy shouted. “When he’s destroyed in battle, I can summon my Armed Dragon LV3 in ATK mode! (1200 ATK)” in a flash, the orange and white dragon with small wings appeared. Toshiro narrowed his eyes. “I’ll set two cards facedown (Call of the Haunted and Angel Lift) and end my turn and when I do, Dasher is switched to DEF (1000 DEF).” As the facedowns disappeared into the pavement beneath them, Dashed knelt down and crossed him arms protectively in front of his face. Jeremy drew his next card. (Armed Dragon LV7) “I activate the ability of Armed Dragon LV3! By sacrificing him, I can summon Armed Dragon LV5! (2400 ATK)” The new dragon was black and red. It had a club-like tail with spikes at the tip and along the top of the tail. Its wings were smaller than LV3’s and most of his body was covered in spikes. “Now I activate its ability! By discarding Armed Dragon LV7, I can destroy your Dasher!” Jeremy’s dragon opened its maw and blasted a ball of fire at Dasher, incinerating it in seconds. “Now Armed Dragon LV5, direct attack! Serrated Disk Shot!" The dragon flicked it’s tail, shoot three light blue disks at Toshiro… “Trap Card activate!” Toshiro cried. “Angel Lift! This trap card lets me revive my Destiny Hero Disk Commander in DEF mode! (200 DEF)” the light blue and silver drew appeared on the field, curled in a ball and with huge disks surrounding his body. “And when he’s summoned from the grave, I can draw two cards! (Destiny Hero Defender and Destiny Hero Plasma)” The disks that originally were aimed at Toshiro instead flew into Disk Commander, blowing him apart in seconds. Jeremy shrugged. “Fine by me, because since my dragon destroyed a monster, I can sacrifice it to summon Armed Dragon LV7! (2800 ATK)” The new dragon was larger and thinner than LV5, but it had the same color scheme. However, it had large silver wings and skeletal silver armor surrounding his body. “That ends my turn” Toshiro drew his next card. (Destiny Hero Diamond Dude) “I activate the ability of my Dasher! Since he’s in the graveyard, for one time I can automatically Special Summon a monster that I just drew, so come on out Destiny Hero Diamond Dude! (1400 ATK)” in a flash of light, the green clothed hero with diamonds sticking out of his body appeared. “Now I activate his ability! By discarding the top of card of my deck, I can activate next turn ifs it’s a Normal Spell Card! Now I remove the Malicious in my graveyard from the game to summon another one! Next, I summon Destiny Hero Defender!” In a flash, the enormous rock guardian appeared on the field, crouching. “What good will those pieces of trash do?” Jeremy sneered. Toshiro felt his blood boil. “DON’T CALL MY CARDS TRASH!” He hollered. “They’re full of surprises!” “Then bring them on!” Jeremy shot back. Toshiro glared. “Bring it on, you said? Fine. I sacrifice my three monsters in order to summon Destiny Hero Plasma! (1900 ATK)” The hero that replaced the mini-army Toshiro created was quite a site: it looked very much like a vampire. It had blood colored robes, large claws, and three spikes coming out of his upper back. Leathery wings came out of the back as well and the beast also had a large tail. “Now I activate its ability!” Toshiro cried. “I can equip it with a monster on your side of the field, so your dragon’s mine!” Plasma raised one of his hands and placed in on the dragon’s snout. In a flash it dissolved and its face appeared on Plasma’s wings. “Now my hero gains 1400 ATK!” Toshiro cried. “Raising it to 3300! Plasma, direct attack! Plasma Burst!” Plasma flapped his wings once and a hailstorm of blood-red bolts flew at Jeremy, intent on cutting him to ribbons… “I activate my Trap!” Jeremy announced. “Sakuretsu Armor will destroy your monster!” Plasma was suddenly surrounded by a purple aura. It groaned once, and then exploded, and its bolts dissolved. Toshiro narrowed his eyes. “I end my turn” Jeremy drew his next card. (Pot of Greed) “I activate Pot of Greed! I draw two cards. (Cyberdark Keel and Graceful Charity) Now I activate Graceful Charity to draw three (Fusion Guard, Level Modulation, and Future Fusion) and discard two (Armed Dragon LV10 and Level Modulation). Next, I activate Polymerization!” Crap! Toshiro thought. He got it! “I fuse Cyberdark Horn, Cyberdark Edge, and Cyberdark Keel together to form Cyberdark Dragon! (1000 ATK)” In a blaze of electricity, the spiky dark, metallic dragon emerged from the multi-colored vortex. “Now I activate his ability and equip t with Armed Dragon LV10, increasing it’s ATK to 4000!” As its tubes entered the armor-covered dragon, a red aura surrounded the dragon flying alongside Jeremy. “Also, it gains 100 ATK for every monster in the grave! (4000 ATK à 4900 ATK)” Toshiro narrowed his eyes. So…you think you can beat me that easily, do you? Jeremy threw himself into a skid, turning to see his opponent’s destruction. “Cyberdark Dragon, direct attack!” he ordered pointing his fist at Toshiro. “Full Darkness Blast!” The metal dragon opened its maw and unleashed a blast of dark red electricity at Toshiro… “Trap Card open!” Toshiro shouted. “Call of the Haunted activate! This card lets me bring back my Destiny Hero Dasher to intercept your attack! (2100 ATK)” In a flash, the silver hero reappeared on the field and exploded as the electricity blast from Cyberdark Dragon crashed into him. The force of the explosion caused Toshiro to serve and fall further behind.
Toshiro – 1200 Jeremy – 4000
Jeremy straightened his bike and sighed. “Ah well” he sighed melodramatically. “So much for your trash, Henry” Toshiro looked up at these words…and his eyes began burning with an inner fire. “DON’…CALL…ME…HENRY!!” Toshiro roared, drawing his next card. (Burial from the Different Dimension) “I activate the ability of the card I discarded with Diamond Dude!” he announced. “Go, Magical Stone Excavation! With this card, I can bring back my Destiny Draw, which I’ll now activate by discarding my Destiny Hero Fear Monger! (Pot of Avarice and Pot of Greed) Now I activate Burial from the Different Dimension to return the two Malicious’ I have removed from play to my graveyard. Next, I activate Pot of Avarice! By shuffling my three Malicious’, my Plasma, and my Fear Monger back into my deck, I can draw two cards. (Malicious and Fear Monger). Now I activate Graceful Charity to draw three (Plasma, Monster Reborn, and Captain Tenacious) and discard two. (Captain Tenacious and Malicious)” “Are you eventually going to end you turn?” Jeremy asked mockingly. “Or are you going to draw cards all day?” Toshiro smirked. “Don’t worry. Soon, this whole duel will be over!” Jeremy looked back, startled. “I now remove the Malicious I sent to the graveyard to summon one to the field.” Toshiro continued. “Next, I activate Monster Reborn on my Dasher!” Once more, the silver hero appeared in a flash of light, right next to the demonic-Malicious. “Now I summon Destiny Hero Fear Monger!” The new hero had dark armor, two blade-like wings, and a gun arm. “Now I sacrifice my three monsters to summon Destiny Hero Plasma! (1900 ATK)” Once more, the vampire-look alike had appeared flying above Toshiro. Jeremy’s eyes widen. “No!” “Yes!” Toshiro yelled. “Now Plasma will steal you monster, and increase its ATK by half your monster’s!” Plasma placed its hand n Cyberdark Dragon’s head, making it disappear and reappear as in imprint on its wing. (1900 à 4250 ATK) “DESTINY HERO PLASMA, DIRECT ATTACK!” Toshiro roared, pointing at Jeremy. “PLASMA BURST!” Plasma flapped its wings once and a hailstorm of blood bolts rammed into Jeremy and his bike, which immediately stopped, smoke pouring out of the hood and the computer screen flashing the word ‘Defeat’ over and over again..
Toshiro – 1200 Jeremy – 0
Toshiro pulled up next to Jeremy, who was sitting in his seat, too stunned to move. Toshiro held his hand out. “Hand it over” he demanded quietly. Jeremy, after fumbling for a minute, took the deck out of the slot and handed it to his opponent. After making sure all the cards were there, Toshiro placed it in his jacket pocket and got ready to drive off. Before he did, however, he looked back at Jeremy, his eyes cold. “You don’t respect you opponent. You don’t respect your opponent’s cards. You steal decks from their rightful owners. You’re no duelist. You’re the trash.” Jeremy just watched dumbfounded as Toshiro revved the motor and drove off.
* * *
Twenty minutes later, Toshiro was nearing the Smith Manson. The Smiths were very rich and owned a huge place on top of a hill overlooking Domino City. It also had a huge security system…one that spotted him when he was two miles away. “Rider!” a man’s voice said. “Please stop and announce your business! Otherwise you shall be treated as hostile!” Sorry, thought Toshiro as he smashed through the iron gates that lead up the driveway. “I’m not waiting!” he called to the guards at the gate as he passed them. He knew they were following him, so he drove through the lawn and up the hill, nearing the front door. When he was ten yards away, he threw his bike sideways, tearing the lawn apart and coming to a stop in front of the front door. But before he could knock, he was surrounded by black-clothed security guards, their guns out and pointing at him. “Freeze! Don’t move!” one of the men hollered. Toshiro took of his helmet and shook his head. “I’m here to see Sarah Smith” he said. “Miss Smith is in no condition to duel you.” The man said. “Please leave your name and once she is ready she will contact you.” Toshiro took the deck he took from Jeremy out of his pocket and showed it to the guards. “Would this get her back into condition?” he asked. “My deck!” a girl’s voice cried from behind him. Toshiro turned around and nearly dropped the deck: standing in the doorway was a girl, at least 18. She had blonde hair that reached her waist. Her eyes were dark blue and she was wearing ripped jeans, a black tank top, and a black jacket that was shorter than the tank top. Toshiro’s mouth dropped open a fraction. DAMN! He exclaimed mentally. Not only is she a great duelist, but she’s HOT! The girl took the deck and looked through it. “It is my deck!” she exclaimed. Tuning back to Toshiro, she asked. “Who are you and how did you get this?” Toshiro stuck his hand out. “Toshiro Henry” he said. “Some jerk ran into me and he had the deck on him. He wouldn’t give it back so we dueled for it.” The girl shook his hand. “Sarah Smith” she replied. “Thank you so much for getting this back.” She let go of his hand and cocked her head. “You must a damn good duelist in order to beat my deck.” Toshiro shrugged. “I decent” he said modestly. Sarah grinned and nodded. “There’s a tournament starting tomorrow” she told him. “Are you entering?” Toshiro shook his head. “No. Not unless my opponent is there” Sarah nodded knowingly. “Please, let me enter you in. Consider it a thank you for finding my deck” Toshiro slightly inclined his head. “Thank you. Miss Smith” Sarah giggled, and waved his comment aside. “No problem…and please don’t call me Miss Smith. Sarah will be fine.” Toshiro grinned. “Okay…Sarah. Thank you” Toshiro looked at the watch and did a double take. “Crap! It’s nearly midnight!” he exclaimed, putting his helmet back on. “I’ve gotta jet!” Turning to Sarah, he said “Thank you again”, and then he drove down the hill, through the gates, and down the road back towards Domino. Sarah Smith closed the door and smiled, looking at the grand staircase behind her. “You got that?” she called up to the person standing there. The teenage boy, who was wearing a white dress shirt and blue jeans with his golden hair and brown eyes, that was leaning against the banister grinned and took a card out of his pocket. The monster depicted on it was purple and green with yellow wings and gold eyes. “Yes I did. Interesting…” “He’s got a new deck” Sarah said. “Probably a better one” The boy shrugged and put the card back into his pocket. “Doesn’t matter to me. Soon, he will lose that deck too. “Just like he lost the first one.”
