Yu-Gi-Oh! The Four Virtues Episode 14: “A Dark World Duel”
Toshiro jumped down a full flight of stairs, landing in a crouch and sending shooting pains up his legs. Ignoring the tingling feeling, he straightened and started running down the corridor in front of him. “Toshiro!” Mara called after him, jumping down the stairs two at a time, with Jaya and Tokyro right behind her. “Wait up!” “Can’t!” Toshiro called back. “Gotta find Fate!” “You think she’ll be able to tell us about the thing we saw?” Jaya asked. Toshiro and Jaya had engaged in a duel on the building’s roof, and at the end a strange glowing symbol appeared in the sky. Glowing symbols subsequently appeared on the arms of the four teens, suitably freaking them out. “She should!” Toshiro shouted back. “She’s an expert on things supernatural!” The four rounded at corner, and had to skid to a halt to avoid hitting the person standing in their way. He wore all black, from the shirt to the pants to the trench coat. His hair was black and he had brown hair. A black duel disk was on his right arm. “Jeremy?!” Toshiro yelled. “What the HELL are you doing here?!” Jeremy smirked. “I’m here to collect what you owe.” Toshiro ground his teeth together. “Listen you moron, I don’t have time to kick you’re a** right now. Get out of the way or I’ll make you” Jeremy smirked. “The only way I’ll move is if you beat me in a duel.” Toshiro snarled. “Fine!” He made to activate his duel disk when a girl stepped in front of him. She had purplish hair and amethyst eyes. She wore a blue jacket, blue jeans, and a white tank top. She was favoring her left leg slightly. Toshiro gaped. “Fate?! What are you…?” “Toshiro, let me.” Fate demanded. “I know what happened up there. It’s my duty to duel for you now.” Toshiro looked confused, but slowly nodded. “If you need help, I’m here.” With that, he stepped back so he stood with Jaya, Tokyro, and Mara. Jeremy laughed loudly as he saw Fate grimly slide her deck into its slot. “Toshiro, you’re sending a lady to fight for you?!” “Hate to break it to you,” Fate replied, “but I’m not just a simple-minded female. I’m going to kick you’re a** to prove it!” Jeremy chuckled as he activated his duel disk. “This I must see” Fate activated her own duel disk. “Get your game on!”
Fate – 4000 Jeremy – 4000
The two duelists drew five cards. Jeremy’s hand consisted of Zure—Knight of Dark World, Dark Bribe, Dark World, Dark World Dealings, and Graceful Charity. Fate had Jain—Lightsworn Paladin, Lumina—Lightsworn Summoner, Gragonith—Lightsworn Dragon, Solar Recharge, and Glorious Rebirth. “Ladies first!” Fate announced as she drew her card (Pot of Greed). “I activate Solar Recharge! By discarding my Lightsworn Dragon and discarding the top two cards of my library (Mystical Space Typhoon and Celestia—Lightsworn Angel), I can draw two cards! (Ryko—Lightsworn Hunter and Negate Attack) Now I set one monster facedown (Ryko) along with two other facedowns (Negate Attack and Glorious Rebirth) and end my turn. Jeremy drew his sixth card. (Scarr, Scout of Dark World) “I summon Zure, Knight of Dark World in ATK mode! (1800 ATK)” In a flash, the grayish-black armored demon appeared, wielding a large broadsword. “Now, attack her facedown card!” The knight leapt at the hologram, cleaving it in half. The form of a white wolf appeared for a half a second before disappearing. “The monster you destroyed was Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter!” Fate announced. “And when he’s flipped up, your monster is destroyed, and the top three cards of my library are sent to my graveyard (Lyla—Lightsworn Sorceress, Garoth—Lightsworn Warrior, and Wulf—Lightsworn Beast). Now, the effect of Wulf, Lightsworn Beast activates! Since he was sent from the deck to the graveyard, he’s automatically Special Summoned to my side of the field! (2100 ATK)” In a flash, the wolf-like beast that wielded a spear appeared. Jeremy scowled. “I activate Dark World Dealings! We each discard a card and then draw a new one. (Jeremy: Scarr for Mirror Force; Fate: Lumina for Aurkus, Lightsworn Druid) Next, I set the card I just drew facedown and end my turn.” “Lightsworn?!” Tokyro exclaimed. “I thought she used Arcana Force monsters!” Toshiro frowned. “Didn’t the person she faced in the first round have a Lightsworn deck?” Mara nodded. “And nobody’s seen or heard from him since…” “Draw!” Fate shouted, cutting across the foursome’s thoughts (Wishing Star). “I summon Jain, Lightsworn Paladin in ATK mode! (1800 ATK)” In a flash, the armored warrior appeared with a twirl of her blade. “Now my monsters, direct attack!” “Trap Card open!” Jeremy shouted. “My Mirror Force is going to destroy your puny monsters!” Fate shielded her face as the exploding pixels blew over her. Scowling, she selected her draw card and slid it into her duel disk. “I end my turn” Jeremy drew his next card (Graceful Charity). “I activate my Graceful Charity to draw three cards (Maelstrom Pulse, Sillva—Warlord of Dark World, Goldd—Wu Lord of Dark World) and discard two (Sillva and Goldd). Now, since I discarded them by a card effect, I can Special Summon Sillva, Warlord of Dark World and Goldd, Wu-Lord of Dark World! (2300 ATK each)” In a flash, two different armored warriors appeared: Sillva was clad in silver and black and wielded two swords while Goldd wore gold and black and carried a massive battle-axe. “Next, I activate the Field Spell Dark World!” Jeremy shouted. All at once, the entire dueling field was shrouded in a dome of darkness. “This increases the power of all my Dark World monsters by 500 points! (2300 à 2800 each) Now my monsters, attack her directly and finish her off!” “Trap Card open!” Fate cried as the two hulking brutes closed in on her, weapons raised and poised to strike. They held up as the trap card revealed itself. “What’s that?!” Jeremy demanded. “This…is my Wishing Star Trap Card.” Fate explained. “Upon activation, I destroy every card on my side of the field, and then select three cards from my deck. Those are then set facedown on the field.” The two facedowns flanking the Wishing Star card vanished, only to be replaced with three other cards. Jeremy laughed. “And I was actually worried! Sillva and Goldd, continue your attack!” “Trap Card open!” Fate cried. “My Lightsworn Prayer has a special effect! By sending cards from the top of my deck to the graveyard, I can gain that many LP times 1000!” “WHAT?!” Jeremy shouted. “I send the top four cards to the graveyard (Heavy Storm, Draining Shield, Solar Recharge, and D.D. Warrior Lady) to increase my LP by 4000!” Fate announced, a blue aura surrounding her body.
Fate – 8000 Jeremy – 4000
“Nice!” Jaya shouted. “Now she’ll stay in this thing!” “Trap Card open!” Fate shouted again. “Activate, Defense of the Sacred Ones! For each monster that is attacking me, I summon that many Sacred tokens in ATK mode! (0/0)” In a flash, two golden statues appeared, only to by destroyed by the weapons of the Dark World monsters.
Fate – 2400 Jeremy – 4000
“That was pointless!” Jeremy cried mockingly. “What good did that do you?!” Fate smirked. “My Trap has another ability: Each monster that destroys a token is destroyed!” “WHAT?!” Jeremy cried in shock as his two monsters exploded in pixels. Fate chuckled. “What’s the matter, Jeremy? Scared of a little b****?” Jeremy scowled. “I set one card facedown (Maelstrom Pulse) and end my turn.” “Trap Card go!” Fate shouted. “My Time Flux makes me pay 2000 LP to restore my side of the field to the way it was at the beginning of the turn!” In a flash, Fate’s three cards returned, one of which was her Wishing Star. “However, you get to draw a card. (Bloodlust)”
Fate – 400 Jeremy – 4000
Fate drew her next card. (Dawn’s Respite) “I activate my Trap Card: Glorious Rebirth! This lets me bring back my Gragonith, Lightsworn Dragon! (2400 ATK)” In a flash, the gold and white dragon appeared and let out a roar. “My dragon also gains 500 ATK for every Lightsworn monster in my graveyard! (2400 à 5900 ATK)” “Yes!” Toshiro rejoiced. “One attack and he’s toast!” “Now my dragon, finish this duel with Shining Meteor!” Fate cried. “You’ve just triggered my Trap Card!” Jeremy cackled. “My Maelstrom Pulse will destroy your monster, and every Lightsworn monster in you deck will be sent to the graveyard!” “Oh no!” Fate cried in despair as her dragon cried out in pain as it exploded. “Now I have almost no monsters left!” “That’s right my dear” Jeremy snarled as he drew his next card. “And it’s going to get worse for you, for I activate my Necro Fusion!” “What does that do?!” Fate asked fearfully. “I remove Sillva and Goldd from the game to summon one of the most powerful Dark World monsters ever: GOGLIATH, BATTLEMASTER OF DARK WORLD!” (2500 ATK) The new monster stood eight feet tall and was covered head to foot with black armor with gold and silver spikes protruding from its arms. A black helm covered its beastly head, and a gargantuan battle-axe occupied its right hand. “Now, I activate the Spell Card Bloodlust!” Jeremy roared. His gladiator-like monster growled as a red aura covered him. “This card allows me to double the ATK of my monster during the Battle Phase! And don’t forget, my Field Spell increased my monster’s power as well! (2500 à 3000 ATK)” “Oh…crap…” Fate muttered. “NOW MY BEAST, ATTACK!” Jeremy shouted. The monster raised its axe, ready to cleave the helpless female in two…(3000 à 6000 ATK) “Go Wishing Star!” Fate cried. As the card flipped up, red electricity struck the card, exploding it. “WHAT THE—?!” Jeremy laughed mockingly. “So much for your Trap! My Battlemaster’s ability stops your them cold!” The axe came down, blowing Fate back. “FATE!” cried the group. Suddenly, Fate began laughing. She clambered to her feet, and showed Jeremy her LP counter: the number had remained the same. “WTF?!?!” Jeremy roared. Fate laughed even harder. “Wishing Star…negates all Battle Damage…when its destroyed by a card effect…” Jeremy fumed silently. “I end my turn…” Fate drew the next card and immediately slid it into the duel disk. “Go, Light of Destruction!” Jeremy shielded his eyes as a portal of gold light opened behind his opponent “Wha…?” “I discard my entire deck,” Fate declared, “to remove EVERY LAST CARD YOU OWN FROM THE GAME!!” “WHAT?!” Jeremy looked on in horror as his monster, his hand, and his deck disappeared like magic. “There’s more!” Fate continued. “You also take 4000 points of damage!” Jeremy couldn’t speak; all he could do was watch the blinding light come towards him and consume him.
Fate – 400 Jeremy – 0
Toshiro slowly walked over next to Fate, who was panting heavily as if she had run a marathon. “You okay?” he asked, concerned. Fate nodded, unable to speak. “The more pressing question is, where’s Jeremy?” Tokyro asked. Toshiro glanced down the deserted corridor. “I don’t know, and frankly, I don’t care.”
