Episode 60: “Burying the Past, Part 2”
“It can’t be!” Johan cried.
“Greg’s gonna lose!” Mars exclaimed.
“Not again!” Alexis groaned.
C’mon Greg, Kai thought with his eyes narrowed. You can pull this one out. I can sense it in your deck. All you have to do is decide to use it!
“Hold on!” Greg called out, taking out his deck, selecting a card, and putting it onto the field. “I activate the Continuous Trap Card Shining Attack Barrier!”
As the missiles zoomed ever nearer, a transparent golden shield erupted right into front of Greg, absorbing the attack.
“BUT HOW?!?!” Jaden exclaimed. “YOU HAD NO FACEDOWNS!”
Greg gave a small smile. “Shining Attack Barrier can be activated from anywhere as long as I have less than 1000 LP and if I’m about to take lethal damage.”
Jaden sighed. “What does it do?”
“For every Hero in my grave, any form of damage that would be dealt to me or to creatures I control is decreased by 300 points. So that’s 4 times 300…which equals 1200. So my LP are safe.”
Jaden sighed again. “My turn ends”
“While mine begins. Draw! (Shining Draw) I now activate Shining Draw! This Spell card allows me to sacrifice Heroes and for every Hero I sacrifice, I get to draw two cards, so I’ll send both my monsters to the grave to draw four cards! (Miracle Fusion, Sparkman, Polymerization, and Shining Return) I now activate Miracle Fusion! I remove Avian and Burstinatrix from play in order to summon Elemental Hero Flame Wingman! (2100 ATK) I now activate Polymerization! I fuse Sparkman and Flame Wingman together to summon Elemental Hero Shining Flare Wingman! (2500 ATK) And for every Hero in my graveyard, my Hero gains 300 ATK! (3700 ATK) But that’s not all, for I activate Shining Return! At the cost of half my LP…”
Jaden – 200 Greg – 50
“I can return all of my monsters that are removed from play to the graveyard. And thanks to that, Shing Flare Wingman’s ATK goes up! (4900 ATK) But Shining Return does have another price…I’m not allowed to conduct my Battle Phase this turn. So, my turn ends.”
Jaden drew his next card. (Pot of Avarice) “I activate Pot of Avarice! With this card, I can select five cards in my grave (Card Trooper, Bladedge, Sparkman, Burstinatrix, and Hero Kid), shuffle them into my deck, and then draw two cards! (Draining Shield and Contact Out) I then set one card facedown (Draining Shield) and end my turn.”
Greg drew his next card. (Seal of Shining Light) “I activate the Field Spell Seal of Shining Light! This Spell work like the Seal of Orichalcos with a few differences: 1. All monsters on my side of the field are changed to Light types, 2. All monsters have an ATK increase of 300 (SFW: 5200 ATK), 3. I can sacrifice a card on the field with “Shining” in its name in order to search my deck for another card with “Shining” in its name and put it into my hand, and 4. Every turn I’m allowed to select one monster in my grave and summon it to the field. And now Shining Flare Wingman, attack Jaden directly!”
“I activate Draining Shield! You attack is negated and I gain 5200 LP!”
Jaden – 5400 Greg – 50
Greg bowed his head. “My turn ends”
“This is bad” Sophia said. “Greg only has 50 LP left and Jaden has over 5000! He’s going to need a miracle to win this…”
And he’ll get a miracle on his next turn, Kai thought.
Jaden drew his next card. (Contact Summon) “I activate Contact Summon! With this card I’m allowed to summon Elemental Hero Neos and a Neo-Spacian monster as long as I have a Neo-Spacian on my side of the field. So come on out Neos and Glow Moss! And now, Contact Fuse to create…ELEMENTAL HERO CHAOS NEOS! (3000 ATK) I now I activate his effect: By flipping three coins I can either destroy all your monsters, negate all their effects, or send all the monsters I control back to my hand! Now, go Coin Flip!”
The three holographic coins that had appeared while Jaden performed his speech flew into the air and came back down. After bouncing and rolling around, they finally settled down, allowing everyone to get a good look at them. Three heads looked upwards towards the sky.
“BOOYA!” yelled Jaden. “YOUR WINGMAN’S TOAST! NOW CHAOS NEOS, ATTACK HIM DIRECTLY AND FINISH HIM OFF!”
“Hold on!” Greg called. “I sacrifice my Barrier to draw two cards (Shining Light and Shining Fusion). I now activate the Quick-Play Spell Shining Light! Bu removing Shining Return from play, I can negate the attack! And, thanks to his ability, Chaos Neos goes bye-bye!”
Jaden nodded. “Yes he does…but not in the way you would like’
Greg blinked. “Huh?”
“I activate Contact Out! This card allows me to send my Chaos Neos back to the Fusion Deck and then summon Dark Panther, Glow Moss, and Neos back to the field! My turn ends.”
Greg closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and drew his next card. (Cloak of Elements) “Thanks to the Seal, I can bring back my Elemental Hero Shining Phoenix Enforcer, who I now sacrifice to draw two more cards. (Sword of Elements and Crown of Elements) I now activate…SHINING FUSION!”
Greg held the Spell Card aloft, which began to cast a golden glow upon the field.
Kai’s eyes began to narrow. So much power…but is he the chosen?
Greg’s eyes blazed with a golden fire that made Jaden absolutely certain that he was going to lose. “With this Spell Card I can remove Avian, Burstinatrix, Sparkman, Clayman, and Bubbleman from the game, regardless of location, and sacrifice a card with “Shining” in its name so I can summon the Master of Nature…BEHOLD, THE ELEMENTAL LORD! (5000/5000)”
The new Hero was an awe-striking sight. He had Avian’s head, Burstinatrix’s arms, Clayman’s body, Sparkman’s legs, and Bubbleman’s hands.
Greg’s eyes narrowed. “As you should know, a king isn’t complete without his accessories. So I now activate Cloak of Elements, Crown of Elements, and Sword of Elements! The Cloak makes my Lord untouchable. The Crown raises its DEF by 1000 for every card on the field and in the grave that shares an attribute with it. The Sword does the same thing except it affects the ATK. By the way, Elemental Lord is all elements, so every monster affects him!”
Elemental Lord was surrounded by a rainbow of colors and his stats shot up…to 17000/17000.
Jaden’s mouth dropped open.
“By the way there’s more” Greg added. “For ever equip card on him, Elemental Lord can attack that many times.”
“WHAT?!?!” Jaden yelled.
“ELEMENTAL LORD, DESTROY ALL HIS MONSTERS WITH ELEMENTAL SLASH!”
The Ruler of Elements jumped into the air and threw his sword. Just like a boomerang, the sword went into a complete loop, destroyed all the monsters, and came back to him.
Jaden – 0 Greg – 50
As the holograms disappeared, Greg slowly walked to Jaden’s form on the ground. “Nobody stands in the way of my destiny…and if someone does, I show them no mercy.”
Jaden groaned and Greg helped him to his feet. “Sorry about that” Jaden muttered.
Greg shrugged. “You brought it upon yourself”
Jaden grinned. “I guess I did”
Greg smiled at his friend and walked back to his friends. Their latest challenge has been defeated. All was right in the world.
Maybe now they could live a normal life.
