Yu-Gi-Oh! Battle of the Heavens Episode 51: “Kidnapped!”
Duel Academy Island, 2 Weeks after Greg’s Disappearance…
Violet, the 16 ½ year old girl of Team Evolution, stood on the cliff that overlooked the Japan Sea. Even though it was December, the weather was warm. She was remembering the events that had taken place a few weeks before…
“NNOOOOOOOO!!!!!” Greg screamed as Violet crumpled to the ground and Christy lost her soul. Mahado was cackling evilly. “You lost 2 out of 3! So long and I hope we meet again!” The last thing Greg saw before he blacked out was Christy’s unmoving form facedown on the ground…

Violet was dragged out of her thoughts by Greg skidding to a halt next to her. “Are…you…okay?” Greg panted. Violet turned away so he didn’t see the tears. Unfortunately, she couldn’t keep them out of her voice. “Ye-Yes” Greg walked up behind her and put a hand on her shoulder. “What’s wrong?” Violet turned to face him, her face twisted with grief and anger and confusion. “WHY ARE YOU TRYING TO COMFORT ME?! I JUST COST YOUR SISTER HER SOUL! YOU SHOULD BE MAD AT ME, NOT PITYING ME!” Greg looked into her eyes. “How can I be mad when the one I love is hurting so much?” With those words, the last restraints holding Violet’s grief in check were shattered. She fell to the ground sobbing. Greg crouched next to her and took her into his arms and rocked her, like she did to him so many years ago. “I’ve been hurting ever since we left Domino” Violet whispered. “Without you…I felt…lost.” “Shh…” Greg hushed. “We’re together again. We’ll be alright.”…

“Wait, I have an idea!” Rose announced. “How about we take dueling apprentices?” “You mean like training other duelists?” Violet asked. “Yeah! We’ll train the ones hear at camp. There are an Obelisk, a Slifer, and 2 Ras. Violet, you’ll have the Ra Yellows, Sophia will have the Slifer, and Greg, you’ll get the Obelisk.”…
* * * She squeezed her eyes shut and drew her card. When she opened them, she smiled. “This duel is over!” “What?!” Chazz exclaimed. “How?! You can’t defeat my Dragon!” “Yes I can! I activate Dragonstorm! As you know, I have to pay 1000 LP to summon a Dragon from my deck, but my card has a second ability as well: I can pay 1000 LP for every Dragonstorm in my graveyard to summon a Dragon for every Dragonstorm in my graveyard! I now pay 2000 LP to summon White Horned Dragon (2200 ATK) and Raging White Dragon (1500 ATK)!” Chazz started to laugh. “You think a part unicorn and a baby Blue Eyes can beat me? Face it, you’re mine!” “Forget it lover-boy, because my two Dragons have special abilities! White Horned Dragon can remove up to 5 Spell Cards in your graveyard to increase my Dragon’s attack by 300 points for every Spell removed by its effect! (3700 ATK)” Chazz face faulted just for a second. Sophia smiled and continued. “As for Raging White Dragon, its ability allows me to summon up to 3 Blue Eyes White Dragons from my deck and increase its attack points by 1000 for every Blue Eyes on my side of the field! (4500 ATK)” “WHAT?!?!” Chazz cried as he stared down 5 Dragons with 3000 or more ATK points. “It’s over Chazz. NOW MY DRAGONS, ATTACK!”

Violet drew her next card and smiled. “It’s over Mars! I activate Shinato’s Ark! I sacrifice my three monsters to summon Shinato, King of the Higher Plain! (3300 ATK) Now my monster, attack Volcanic Devil!” “I activate my facedown trap: Mirror Force! Your monster is destroyed!” “Oh no you don’t! I activate my Trap Card Ring of Destruction! Shinato is destroyed and we both take damage equal to his attack points!” Right when Shinato was about to crash into the mirror barrier, he started to glow. A second before impact, he exploded, showering both duelists with his holographic pieces.
Violet – 0 Mars – 0
“It’s a draw?!” Rose exclaimed. Mars and Violet struggled to their feet. “You’re good” Violet panted. Mars grinned. “You’re not bad yourself” “Thanks for helping me find my path” “I didn’t help you. You helped yourself.” Violet thought over Mars’ words as he left. I don’t think he’s right on that one. I didn’t choose to discard those Sky Devil Lords. Fate did for me. She took out her Dark-attribute cards and held them over her head. I’m done with the dark. It’s time to follow the light. And with that, she ripped her Dark cards in half, threw them away, and walked to her tent.

Sophia walked over to the crumpled form of Tyranno and started dragging him to Greg and Violet. When they arrived, she dragged him upright and thrust him forward. “Go on, apologize!” Sophia demanded. “Sorry…” Tyranno muttered. “Likewise…” Greg muttered after Violet elbowed him in the ribs. Violet turned to Tyranno. “Since you’re my apprentice I get to punish you. So…” Violet smiled and looked at her boyfriend. “You get to duel Greg” “W-What?!” Tyranno sputtered. “I think its time for this sergeant to retreat!” As he turned and tried to run, Sophia grabbed his collar and made him stay put. Greg smirked and activated his duel disk. “I’m going to enjoy this…” Tyranno’s scream could be heard all over the island. “HHHHEEEEELLLLLPPPPPP!”

“SOPHIA!!!” Violet screamed as she dashed across the allied encampment. “GREG’S GONE!!” Sophia stuck her head out, along with everyone else. “Greg’s gone?” they asked at the same time. Violet just nodded. She was out of breath and she had tears streaming down her face. “I…found…this …card…in…my tent.” She panted, holding up the card Greg had slipped into her tent the night before. Sophia took a good look at it. It was called Tyuratin. It was a Fairy-type monster with 2800 ATK points, 2500 DEF points, and its effect could make it come out on your opponent’s turn and shut down his whole deck if the player guessed right. “So?” Johan said. “It’s just a card. It could be gift” “YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND!!” Violet yelled, causing the boy to cower. After taking a deep breath, she continued. “Greg never gets me rare cards like this unless he’s going to do something stupid. Like…” “Running away?” Mars finished. Violet nodded.

Violet sighed and brushed a lock of hair out of her eyes. That was what happened: She and Greg made up, they trained their apprentices, Greg had run off, and had been missing ever since. The fugitives had searched for him every day of the last 2 weeks he had been missing, but with no luck. Suddenly, a rustling sounded from the bushes behind her. Violet slowly turned to face the bush in question while taking out her deck and putting it into her duel disk, which was sitting on her arm deactivated. After a few moments of waiting, a transparent figure emerged. It was humanoid with wings and purple, yellow, and blue armor. A visor covered his eyes and it had green hair. In place of one of his hands was a strange type of weapon. “Violet” it called in a strange, disembodied voice. “Greg needs you” Violet looked at him. “Who are you?” The spirit cocked his head. “Don’t you recognize me, Violet? I’m Greg’s signature card. Elemental Hero Tempest.” Violet almost fainted out of shock. “But, but….you’re a monster card? How can you be real? How can I be able to see you?” “To answer your questions, yes I’m a trading card, all monster cards live in the Shadow Realm, and you can see me because of the gauntlet on your arm.” “What gauntlet?” Violet asked confusedly as she looked at her left arm and gasped in shock: a pearly white gauntlet was on her left arm. It went up to the elbow. And it had definitely not had been there a few seconds ago. “How did I get this?” Violet asked in wonder as she lifted her arm to inspect her new accessory more closely. “You earned it. It’s complicated. Greg will explain it later. Which, if I may add, is why I am here. He’s in trouble and he needs you.” Violet hesitated for the merest second, and then nodded. With Tempest ahead of her, she dashed into the forest.

In the middle of the forest, Greg was leaning against a tree for support. He had several cuts and scrapes on his face, most of which were recent and shedding blood. He had a bruise on his forehead and his right eye was swelling. His prized shirt was torn completely off at the shoulder and his pants were ragged and had holes in them. One of his legs had a gash in it and was wrapped in a dark material. Greg was breathing heavily and, even with the tree, was swaying with exhaustion. But at least I defeated Yang, his tired mind thought. If I had lost, who knows what he might’ve done… Greg didn’t really remember much of the duel he had with Yang, his alter-ego. Most of it were flashes of light in the shadows, three great beasts rising into the air, pieces of the ground being blown into the air, a sense of pain in his midsection, three sparkling knights, Critias slamming his sword into Ravel, and being blown back. When he had woken up, he discovered that he was alone and propped up against a tree. He had started walking in a random direction and had soon gotten lost. He luckily had come across a stream for water and food and had taken a nap before waking up in the middle of the night because of his gauntlet was glowing with green, purple, and orange light. He had been walking all day and the sun was about to set. I guess I better find a place to make camp, Greg thought. He stood up straight and took a step forward. That was his mistake. Although Greg didn’t know it, his back was severely hurt. There were hairline fractures in many places and any hard movement could set it off. He had pushed himself all day without anything happening. But now, it was payback time. As he took a step, his back exploded in pain. Crying out, Greg fell forward onto the ground. He tried getting up, but he found that he couldn’t move. He tried to move his head and was rewarded by another wave of pain that caused tears to stream down his face. So this is what it feels like to die, Greg realized. A moment later another realization hit him: his back was probably broken. He was either going to die or be crippled for life. As the vision grew black, Greg thought he heard someone called out for him. He tried to answer, but the pain was too great. He slumped forward, closed his eyes, and didn’t move.

Violet, who was the person Greg had heard, tore through the forest at breakneck speed. She had heard Greg cry out and feared she was already too late. “GREG!” she yelled. “WHERE ARE YOU?!” Momentarily, she almost tripped over something. After regaining her balance she looked down and gave a cry. There was Greg, lying facedown on the ground, barely breathing. Flinging herself next to him, she started crying. “Am I too late?” she asked to nobody in particular. She put her gauntlet hand on Greg’s forehead. She felt the heat of the fever all the way through the glove. However, she failed to notice the spark of light that flashed between her and him. Looking up, she noticed that the sky was darkening, so Violet decided to set up camp. Meanwhile, Greg was in the middle of a fitful dream. He was standing in the middle of a ring of shadows. The shadows then transformed into the three Sacred Beasts: Uria, Hamon, and Ravel. They raised their arms and unleashed their powers. Just before it hit him, the three Knights appeared and chased the demons away. Turning to him, Critias spoke, You have faced many challenges in your past Greg. You have done more than anyone could even hope to do. But you can’t lose your life now. There are still evils left to fight. It is your destiny to defeat these last evils. But, be warned, these evils will be the toughest you’ll ever face. That is why we do this. In unison, Critias, Timeaus, and Hermos lifted their swords above Greg’s head with a spoken word the swords gleamed with electricity and then traveled down into Greg. Greg closed his eyes. The electricity started at his head and traveled down his arms and legs and all over his body. The electricity felt warm and soothing. Then, all at once, the feeling was gone. The electricity was gone and Greg slumped back. Before he left his dream, Critias spoke again. Our gift to you

Greg woke with a start. It was pitch-black. Faintly he heard breathing nearby. He felt around and discovered that he was wrapped in a blanket. Standing up, he got his head trapped tent cloth above. After extricating himself from the tent, he stepped outside into the cool night… Only to be grabbed from behind by someone. Strong arms were wound around his neck. But Greg had been through too much to be taken that way. With a heave, he flipped his assailant over his shoulder, delivering a thrust to the chin along the way. However, as he was preoccupied with his attack, he didn’t hear an accomplice sneak up behind him. Then Greg’s head erupted in pain and he blacked out.

Violet woke up suddenly. Noise outside had woken her up. At first she thought it was regular night sounds. But when she heard Greg cry out she realized something was wrong. Grabbing her duel disk she charged into the night. “Greg!” she called. Nobody answered her. “GREG!” she hollered again. Again, no answer. Looking down, and trying to keep the tears from flowing, she noticed a piece of paper on the ground. Picking it up, she read: If you want him back, come to me. A She had no clue who A was. The only thing she could think of was that Greg had been taken from her again. This time, she won’t wait. This time, she would go straight to the source. The Duelist Academy.
