Episode 6: “Malicious Monster Mayhem”
Sophia stared at Marik Ishtar . They were inside the Shadow Realm to determine whether or not Marik would leave duel academy alone. “Are you ready?’ Marik called.
“Yes.”
“All right. Let’s duel!”
Marik – 8000 Sophia – 8000
Marik and Sophia each drew five cards. Sophia had a decent hand: she had a Blue Eyes White Dragon, Flute of Summoning Dragon, Lord of D., Divine Dragon, and Dragon’s Rage. Marik, meanwhile, was looking at his hand with satisfaction: He had 2x Infernalqueen Archfiend, Pandemonium, Card Destruction, and a Terrorking Archfiend. Sophia, who went first, looked at the card she drew: it was her Tyrant Dragon! “I’ll play Lord of D. in ATK mode. I’ll also play a Flute of Summoning Dragon so I can Special Summon a Blue Eyes White Dragon (3000/2500) and a Tyrant Dragon (2900/2500)!”
Marik looked at his draw card. It was his Coffin Seller Trap card. “I shall play two cards: Infernalqueen Archfiend (900/1500) in DEF mode and Pandemonium. Pandemonium lets me escape paying the Standby phase cost. I shall also put two cards face down.”
Sophia drew her next card: Polymerization. But then she realized she couldn’t attack because whatever Marik had face-down, it couldn’t be good. “I’ll play Divine Dragon in ATK mode. I’ll use Polymerization to summon KING DRAGUN! (2300/1100)”
Marik smiled deviously as he drew his Magic Cylinder. He had Sophia right were he wanted her: He had cards face-down and she was afraid. “During my Standby Phase, I increase my Infernalqueen’s attack by 1000 (1900/1500). I shall switch it to ATK mode. I also play Terrorking Archfiend in ATK mode (2000/1500). I shall also set one card face down.
Sophia frowned slightly as she drew her next card, which turned out to be her Black Luster Ritual. Marik now had THREE facedown cards. This couldn’t be good. “BLUE EYES! ATTACK HIS INFERNALQUEEN ARCHFEIND WITH WHITE LIGHTING ATTACK!”
“You fool!” Marik crowed. “You just triggered my Magic Cylinder! You take 3000 direct damage.”
Marik – 8000 Sophia – 5000
Marik drew his next card, which turned out to be his Helpoemer. “During make standby phase, I increase the attack of my Terrorking Archfiend by 1000. (3000/1500) I will also play another Infernalqueen Archfiend. I sacrifice it to play my Helpoemer in ATK mode. (2000/1400) My Terrorking Archfiend attacks your King Dragun!”
Marik – 8000 Sophia – 4300
Sophia’s card turned out to be her Black Luster Soldier! “I play my Black Luster Ritual. I sacrifice my Blue Eyes to Ritual summon my BLACK LUSTER SOLDIER! (3000/2500) My Tyrant Dragon attacks your Helpoemer, inflicting 900 damage to your Life Points! I also attack your Infernalqueen Archfiend with my Black Luster Soldier!
Marik – 7000 Sophia – 4300
“You fool!” Marik said as he drew his next card. (Byser Shock) ‘By destroying Helpoemer, you activate its effect: whenever you conduct your Battle Phase, You have to discard 1 card from your hand. I shall activate my trap card Coffin Seller. Whenever you discard a Monster card, 300 damage are dealt to your life points. I attack your tyrant dragon with my Terrorking Archfiend.”
Marik – 7000 Sophia – 4200
Sophia was worried when she drew her next card (Monster reborn). She needed a plan now! “I special summon Blue Eyes white Dragon from my graveyard using Monster Reborn. I attack your Terrorking Archfiend with my Black Luster Soldier while my Blue eyes attack you directly! I shall discard my Dragon’s rage.”
Marik – 4000 Sophia – 4200
Marik drew his next card, with was his Shadowknight Archfiend. “I summon my Shadowknight Archfiend. I sacrifice it to send all cards on the field back to their owner’s hands. (Byser Shock, Coffin Seller, and Checkmate are returned to Marik while Blue Eyes is returned to Sophia.) I also play Card Destruction.”
Sophia watched in dismay as Blue Eyes went to her graveyard, dealing her 300 damage.
Marik – 4000 Sophia – 3900
Sophia then drew her card, which turned out to be her Koumori Dragon. “I play Koumori Dragon in ATK mode (1500/1000)”
Marik then drew his Ring of Destruction. “I shall put one card face down.”
Sophia then drew her Divine Dragon. “I play Divine Dragon in ATK mode. (1500/1000)”
Marik then drew his Barrel Behind the Door. I’ll put one card face down. Go!”
Sophia then drew her Wingbeat of Giant Dragon. “I’ll send my Divine dragon back to my hand so I can play my Wingbeat of Giant Dragon! Say goodbye to you magic and trap cards!”
Marik then drew his Banner of Courage. “I play Banner of Courage.”
Sophia then drew her Buster Blader. “I play Divine Dragon in ATK mode! I sacrifice my two monsters to summon my BUSTER BLADER! (2600/2300) And that isn’t all Marik! Since I have FOUR Dragons in my Graveyard, Buster Blader gets and extra 2000 ATK (4600/2300) BUSTER BLADER! ATTACK MARIK’S LIFE POINTS DIRECTLY!”
Marik – 0 Sophia – 3900
Marik’s voice seemed distant as Sophia slid out of the Shadow Realm. “We shall meet again Pharaoh…”
Sophia was suddenly jerked back to reality as Greg shook her awake.
“Are you all right?’ He asked. “I shouldn’t have sent off like that.”
“I’m fine.” She answered as she pulled herself up. I guess everything is back to normal.”
“Yep” Violet replied. “And all the classes we still need to complete.”
Everyone laughed as they existed the room.
