Yu-Gi-Oh! Battle of the Heavens

Episode 2: “Entrance Exam, Part 2”

Greg – 700       Sophia – 2800

Greg was still staring at his deck with worry, and for good reason. He only had 700 life points left and he was counting on this draw. He needed his Miracle Fusion card, which would give him Elemental Hero Rampart Blaster. He closed his eyes as he drew what might his final card. When opened them, he saw that he had it! “I’ll play Miracle Fusion. I’ll remove Clayman and Burstinatrix from play so I can summon ELEMENTAL HERO RAMPART BLASTER! (2000/2500) My monster is in DEF mode, but it can still deal 1000 damage to your LP due to its effect. Go!”

Greg – 700       Sophia – 1800

Sophia was frowning. Her Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV6 was almost powerful enough to destroy Rampart Blaster, but Horus needed an extra 200 ATK points in order to do it. She drew her next card, which turned out to be her Dragon Treasure. Then it came to her! “I’ll equip Dragon Treasure to my Horus, giving it 2700 ATK/1900 DEF! I’ll attack your Rampart Blaster and during my End Phase, I Special Summon Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV8 (3000 ATK) from my deck!”

Greg – 700       Sophia – 1800

Greg was now very worried. He didn’t have enough cards in his deck to start a long drawn out duel. But then he started to formulate a plan when he found his Spellbinding Circle. “I’ll play Spellbinding Circle! That means your dragon can’t attack!”

Sophia was thinking rapidly. She needed to find a way to get rid of that card! When she looked at the card she drew, she started to get frustrated. There was no way she could win now because the card was her Dragon’s Rage Trap card. “I’ll set one card face down. Go!”

Greg drew his card. It was his Elemental Hero Avian! ‘I’ll play Elemental Hero Avian in ATK mode (1000/1000)”

Sophia drew her card. She wanted to scream out loud for the card was her Burst Breath. It didn’t help her much. “I’ll play another card face down.”

Greg drew his card. It was Scapegoat! Greg now needed his United We Stand Equip card and the duel was over…

Greg took a deep breath and let it out. “I play Scapegoat, which gives me four Sheep Tokens”

Sophia drew her card with trembling fingers. This card needs to be good, she thought, or I might lose! When she looked at it she was even more exasperated: It was ANOTHER Dragon’s Rage! “I’ll discard my Buster Blader to draw a new card” And that card was her Black Luster Soldier!

Greg was starting to feel butterflies in his stomach. He closed his eyes when he drew his card. When he looked at it, He was even happier: It was United We Stand! “I’ll play the final card of this duel! BEHOLD: UNITED WE STAND! I’ll equip it to my Avian, giving it an extra 4000 ATK since there are five monsters on my side of the field! AVIAN, ATTACK HER HORUS WITH FEATHER TORNADO! Greg watched in elation as the final score appeared on the board:

Greg – 700       Sophia – 0

Sophia was looking at the board as well, and instead of being sad and/or upset, she was glad. Sophia was proud of her cousin. He had the potential and the instincts to become an excellent duelist. But then she watched in horror as a black suited someone pulled him out of the throng and through an elevator. Even as she was dashing to the elevator, Sophia recognized that the person worked for Jaden Yuki. If something was wrong she needed to be there to argue that Greg deserved to be in Critias Purple.

Greg looked around Jaden Yuki’s office in awe. A large bay window was behind his desk and there were frames full of different objects. There was also a numerous amount of safes in the office, but nobody had told the victor why he was here!

Jaden looked him up and down. “Impressive. You do not seem to be the type of person to be an Elemental hero deck user”

Greg looked surprised. Jaden seemed to be surprised as well, and Greg could understand why: He had beaten his cousin in a duel, not to mention that Sophia had been in Critias Purple. “No I did not cheat. I went along by my instincts and the heart of the cards.”

Jaden smiled. “You sound like Yugi”, He said. He then got up and walked around him. “Come, let me show you something.”

Greg followed him to a safe. Jaden kept on talking, even while he was entering the code. “Did you know that Yugi gave me the card known as Winged Kuriboh?” He asked.

Greg was startled at the question. “Why, yes of course! Everyone knows that the card Yugi gave you helped you enter Duel Academy.’

Jaden opened the safe. “Yep, but still Dr. Crowler still doesn’t give me respect…”

‘WHAT?!” Greg shouted. “You mean to say that he is still teaching?!”

‘Yes and-ah! Here we are!” announced Jaden as here took something out of the safe.

Jaden turned around and looked at him. “In your opinion, what card helped you the most today?’

Greg thought deeply. His United We Stand had helped him win the game, but so did his Spellbinding Circle and Scapegoat. Then he had the answer. ‘I would say it would be Miracle Fusion”

“Good” Jaden smiled. “As a congratulations gift, I would like to give you this card. It will give you a new combo for your deck”

Greg unwrapped the card. It was the Spell Card Dimensional Fusion. “Thanks”

Jaden had another surprise as well. “Think nothing of it. I will also say this: You are now a member of the Critias Purple dorm. Go, I think Sophia will want to talk to you as well.”

Greg left the office in shock. Critias Purple…I am part of Critias Purple. He thought. He was so absorbed in his own thoughts that he did not even see the moving shadow.

That shadow grinned. So, it looks like our plan is going well. Takeover can begin shortly.
