Episode 5: “Virtual Virus”
Sophia watched in concern as Greg stared at a pile of cards. Those cards were the deck of Violet, Greg’s girlfriend. Violet had been kidnapped by Noah the night before and this was one of the few things Noah left behind. For the past 30 min, Either Greg had shuffled through the cards, sat down on the sofa and stared at the deck, or paced around the room.
“Greg, can you stop it? It’s making me dizzy!”
Greg swung towards her, and then Sophia saw it: The hurt, lost look in his eyes. It must fell terrible to lose someone close to you, she thought.
“I have made my decision” Greg said very quietly. “I’m going after Noah”
Sophia stared at her cousin, shocked. Noah was a virtual genius. He was also ruthless. There had already been a ransom note: Greg needed to give Noah his Legacy of Heart Spell card or Violet was gone forever.
“Sophia, listen to me.” Greg said crouching down to her level. “I know where Noah is hiding and I intend to find him and make him pay. I want you to call off the search parties. Then go directly to Jaden. Tell him to go to the Underground Mine. That is where everything will be revealed”
“But Greg” Sophia started to say something, but he was gone…
In the elevator, Greg looked through Violet’s cards again. It was an Archlord/Light/Fairy Deck. And an extremely very well put together one too, Greg thought. There must be a clue in these cards…
Suddenly, he discovered something: A small wrapped something with a letter on it. It said:
Dear Greg,
These cards are for you. I really like you. I hope we can always be together, forever.

Greg felt teams stream down his face as he unwrapped the package: There were six cards in there: Archlord Zerato, Warrior of Zera x2, The Forgiving Maiden, Marie the Fallen One, and St. Joan. These cards were handpicked from Violet’s collection just to give to Greg. Greg then heard a ding-dong as he reached his destination. He put Violet’s deck in his inside coat pocket, Violet’s gift in his pants pocket, double checked his duel disk, and stepped out into blackness.
Meanwhile, Sophia was running with all her might. She had walked across half the school in order to find the leader of the search parties, and then she had run pell mell to the Principals office. She got there sooner than she expected.
“Jaden! We know were Violet is!” She managed to gasp out.
But as the chair turned, Sophia discovered that it was not Jaden, it was Marik!
Marik made a hand gesture, and Sophia was quickly surrounded by Rare Hunters. “Welcome Pharaoh” Marik growled. “How about a little game: A duel perhaps….?”
Underground, Greg walked toward the arena. Once he was in his booth, he saw Noah was there. “Noah!” Greg called out, trying his best to keep his anger in check. “Let’s duel!”
Noah – 8000 Greg – 8000
Greg and Noah each drew five cards. Greg had a decent hand: He had Dimension Fusion, Miracle Fusion, Elemental Hero Sparkman, Elemental Hero Bubbleman, and Elemental Hero Avian! He could summon E-Hero Tempest right now since he went first!
Noah had a treasure hand: Magical Scientist, Catapult Turtle, Mirage Knight, Mother Grizzly, and Poison of the Old man!
Greg drew his card. It turned out to be his Life Absorbing Machine. “I’ll set 2 cards face down (Dimension Fusion and draw card) I’ll also play Miracle Fusion! I’ll remove Avian, Sparkman, and Bubbleman from play so I can Summon ELEMENTAL HERO TEMPEST! (2800/2800)”
Noah drew his card. It turned out to be his Poison of the Old Man again. “I’ll play two Poison of the Old Mans, therefore increasing my LP to 10000. I’ll also play Catapult Turtle (1000/2000) in DEF mode.”
Noah – 10000 Greg - 8000
Greg drew his next card. It was his Elemental Hero Clayman. “I’ll play my E-Hero Clayman in DEF mode. (800/2000)”
Noah drew his card. It was his Pandemonium field magic card. I’ll save this card for later, he thought. “I summon the Magical Scientist in ATK mode. I pay 1000 life points to summon Dark Flare Knight. I launch it with my Catapult Turtle to inflict 1100 damage to your life points!”
Noah – 9000 Greg – 6900
Greg drew his next card. It turned out to be his Elemental Hero Sparkman. I summon E-Hero Sparkman in ATK mode! (1600/1400)”
Noah drew his next card. It was Gravity Bind! I play Gravity Bind. That means all Level 4 or above monsters can’t attack! I pay another 1000 to play my second Dark Flare Knight! I launch it with my Catapult Turtle to inflict 1100 damage to your LP!”
Noah – 8000 Greg – 5800
Greg was starting to let the anger take control as he drew his next card. It was his Polymerization! I play Polymerization! I fuse Sparkman and Clayman together to form ELEMENTAL HERO THUNDER GAINT! (2500/1500)Thunder Giant! Attack Catapult Turtle RIGHT NOW WITH THUNDER BOMB!
Noah drew his next card. It was his Terrorking Archfiend. “I’ll play Mother Grizzly in DEF Mode. I’ll pay 1000 life points you summon another Dark Flare Knight. Dark Flare Knight attacks your Tempest and when Dark Flare Knight is destroyed, I can Special Summon Mirage Knight from my Hand! (2800/2000)”
Noah – 7000 Greg – 5800
Greg drew his next card. It was his Avian. “I’ll play E-Hero Avian in ATK mode (1000/1000)” TEMPEST! ATTACK MOTHER GRIZZLY WITH THUNDRBUBLE TORNADO!
“You fool! When you destroy Mother Grizzly, I can Special Summon a Catapult Turtle in DEF mode from my hand or deck!” Noah then drew his Infernalqueen Archfiend. “I’ll play two cards: Pandemonium and Infernalqueen Archfiend in DEF Mode. (900/1500) Pandemonium doesn’t make me pay life points during my Stand-by Phases for my Archfiends. I’ll also pay 1000 LP to summon Empress Judge. I’ll launch it with my turtle to inflict 1050 damage to your LP! MIRAGE KNIGHT! ATTACK THUNDER GIANT!
Noah – 6000 Greg – 4450
Greg was starting to get worried. He needed to do something! His draw card was his Elemental hero Burstinatrix. “I’ll discard E-Hero Burstinatrix to draw another card” that card turned out to be his Miracle Fusion! “I’ll play Miracle Fusion! I remove Avian and Burstinatrix from play so I can summon Elemental Hero Flame Wingman! (2100/1200)”
Noah drew another card. It was his Poison of the Old Man! “I’ll play Poison of the Old Man! My Life Points are increased by 1000! I summon Terrorking Archfiend! (2000/1500) I pay 1000 life Points to summon my Punished eagle! I’ll launch it with my turtle to inflict 1050 damage to your Life Points! Mirage Knight! Attack Flame Wingman with Daylight Slash!
Noah – 6000 Greg – 2700
Greg knew that he was in trouble. He only had his Elemental hero Tempest to help him. He drew his next card. It was his Sparkman. “I’ll discard the card I just drew to draw one more card” It was his Mask of Restrict! “I’ll play the trap card Mask of Restrict! Neither of us can tribute anything!”
Noah drew his next card, which was his Shadowknight Archfiend. “During my Standby phase I increase the attack of my Terrorking Archfiend by 1000.”
Greg drew his next card. It was his Mask of the Accursed! I play Mask of the Accursed! I equip it to your Terrorking Archfiend! You will now lose 500 LP during your every standby phase!”
Noah drew his card. It was his Checkmate. “I’ll put one card face down. I increase Infernalqueen Archfiend’s ATK by 1000”
Noah – 5500 Greg – 2700
Greg drew his next card. It was his Mystical Space Typhoon! “I’ll play Mystical Space Typhoon! Say good-bye to Pandemonium!”
Noah drew his next card, which was his Different Dimension Gate. “I’ll set one card facedown. During my Standby Phase, I increase Terroking’s attack to 4000. I take 500 damage due to your mask, 500 damage due to Infernalqueen, and 800 damage due to Terrorking. That is a grand total of 1800 damage!”
Noah – 3700 Greg – 2700
Greg drew his next card. It was another mask of the Accursed! “I’ll play another Mask of the Accursed! I’ll equip it to your Infernalqueen Archfiend.”
Noah was starting to get scared. He needed something quick! He drew His emergency Provisions! “I play Emergency Provisions! I destroy my Gravity Bind to increase my LP by 1000. I also summon Shadowknight Archfiend. (2000/1600) I also increase Terroking’s ATK by 1000. I launch my Terrorking to inflict 2500 damage to your Life Points. I take 1000 because of your masks, 500 because of Infernalqueen, and 800 because of Terrorking, creating a grand total of 2300.”
Noah – 2400 Greg – 200
Greg’s anger boiled over. He was about to go all out when he heard Violet’s voice. Don’t give in to anger Greg! I like you…
Greg then calmed down. He drew his next card. It was his Miracle Fusion! “I activate Life Absorbing Machine! This card increases my Life points by half the amount of Life Points I paid on this turn. I pay 2000 LP and activate Dimension Fusion! I also gain 1000 LP because of my Trap card! I special Summon Sparkman, Burstinatrix, Clayman, and Avian! I play Miracle Fusion! I’ll remove Sparkman and Flame Wingman from play to summon ELEMENTAL HERO SHINING FLARE WINGMAN! (2500/2100) And since I have three Elemental Heroes in my Graveyard, Shining Flare wingman gets an extra 900 ATK, which it a grand total of 3400 ATK! SHINGING FLARE WINGMAN! ATACK MIRAGE KNIGHT WITH THUNDERFORCE STRIKE! TEMPEST! ATTACK INFERNALQUEEN QRCHFEIND WITH THUNDERBUBBLE TORNADO!
Noah – 300 Greg – 1000
Noah realized that he had just lost. He had already taken 900 damage from his Shadowknight. “You win-“ then he sunk to the floor, unconscious.
Noah – 0 Greg – 1000
Greg looked up, startled as he saw violet and Jaden Yuki emerge from the shadows. “Violet!” Greg shouted and forgetting all pretenses, ran forward to give her a big hug.
Jaden, however, looked grim. ‘I don’t mean to intrude, but there is trouble at the Academy.”
Greg and Violet turned around. ‘What kind of trouble?” Greg asked weakly.
Jaden looked sad as he replied. “Marik has taken over the Academy and he has taken Sophia hostage. They are dueling within the Shadow Realm right now. Rare Hunters are guarding all of the exists. We are locked outside.”
Violet gave Greg’s arm a compassionate squeeze as she saw tears well in his eyes. Then, she saw that a face of hard determination. The same face he had when he dueled for her…
“Not all of the exists” Greg said. “There is still the elevator that I took.’
“Right!” Violet agreed.
“Okay’ Greg said. ‘Let’s go help our friend”
