Yu-Gi-Oh! Battle of the Heavens Episode 38: “Playing with Fire”
Greg was walking through the streets to Domino City alone. The semifinals were about to begin and Greg was waiting for the first match to be announced. The four finalists were himself, his girlfriend Violet, a boy named Shobu and a girl named Ishizu. I really hope I don’t have to face Violet yet. She’s a great duelist but I might beat her and what would that do to our relationship? Greg wondered nervously. Suddenly a voice on a loudspeaker announced “THE FIRST SEMIFINAL DUEL WILL BE BETWEEN GREGORY HENRY AND SHOBU KIRAFUDA! DUELISTS, PLEASE REPORT TO THE HARBOR FOR THE DUEL!” “IT’S GREG!!!” The leader of Team Evolution shouted at the speaker as he ran to the harbor. Why do people always have to do that?! Greg complained to himself. He took out his deck as he ran and began to modify it.

5 minutes later, Greg arrived at the harbor. Shobu was already there. He was staring at him with a calculating look on his face. Greg suddenly felt like he was dueling Zane or Dr. Crowler and not Shobu, but he shook that feeling aside. Violet walked up to him and kissed him gently. As she pulled back Greg saw Shobu scowl at him. Greg smirked back. “Good luck” Violet whispered. “Hey, you know me well enough that I don’t need it. I just need you and my friends” Violet smiled and stepped to the sidelines. Greg stared a Shobu again and they activated their duel disks and put their decks in. “Ready Shobu?” Greg called. Shobu smiled. “You better have you girlfriend get a band-aid because your going to get trashed BIG TIME!” Greg started to get angry. “Fine. LET’S DUEL!”
Greg – 8000 Shobu – 8000
The two duelists drew five cards. Greg had Elemental Hero Burstinatrix, Fake Hero, Polymerization, Negate Attack, and Miracle Fusion. Shobu had Ultimate Offering, 3x Ancient Gear Gajiltron Dragons, and Polymerization. According to the rules, Shobu went first. Shobu drew his card and smiled. He had drawn Red Gadget. I have him now, Shobu thought evilly. “I activate the Trap card Ultimate Offering! This card allows me to pay 500 LP to summon an extra monster. I now summon Red Gadget in ATK mode! Due to its effect, I can add a Yellow Gadget to my hand. I now pay 500 LP to summon my Yellow Gadget, and I can add a Green Gadget to my hand due to Yellow Gadget’s ability. I pay 500 LP to summon my Green Gadget and, thanks to its effect, I can add another Red Gadget to my hand. I pay another 500 LP to summon another Red Gadget and to add another Yellow Gadget to my hand. I pay 500 LP to summon my Yellow Gadget and to add another Green Gadget to my hand.” Greg – 8000 Shobu – 6000
“Are you done yet?” Greg asked impatiently. “Nope” Shobu grinned. “I just started. I now pay another 500 LP and sacrifice Yellow Gadget and Red Gadget to summon my Ancient Gear Gajiltron Dragon in ATK mode! I pay another 500 LP and sacrifice my other Yellow and Red Gadgets to summon another Ancient Gear Gajiltron Dragon in ATK mode. I now pay 500 LP to summon my other Green Gadget in ATK mode. I pay 500 and I sacrifice my last two Green Gadgets to summon my third Ancient Gear Gajiltron Dragon! And that’s not all! I now activate Polymerization! I fuse my three Gajiltron Dragons together to summon the ultimate beast: ANCIENT GEAR TRI-HEADED GAJILTRON DRAGON!! (2000/2000) And due to its ability, I can equip one of my Gajiltron Dragons to it, increasing its ATK by 3000 points! (5000 ATK)”
Greg – 8000 Shobu – 4000
“ARE YOU DONE YET?!” Greg shouted. Shobu stopped in mid-gloat. “Umm…Uhh…” “Thank you” Greg said as he drew his next card (Pot of Greed) “I activate Pot of Greed! This Card allows me to draw two more cards from my deck (Elemental Hero Shadow Gal and Polymerization) “I now summon Elemental Hero Shadow Gal in ATK mode (1200/800). I now play Fake Hero, which allows me to Special Summon 1 Elemental Hero to the field from my deck as long as I return it to my hand at the end of turn and I’ll choose Avian! I now play Polymerization! I fuse Shadow Gal and Avian together to summon Elemental Hero Dark Wingman (2100 ATK)! I now play another Polymerization to fuse Burstinatrix and Dark Wingman together to summon Elemental Hero Winged Hell Demon! (2500 ATK) I now play Miracle Fusion! I remove Avian and Burstinatrix from play to summon my Elemental Hero Flame Wingman! (2100 ATK) I’ll throw down a face-down (Negate Attack) and end my turn and that means Avian comes back to my hand!” Shobu grinned as he drew a card (Monster Reborn) “Too bad you’re going to lose this turn! I activate Tri-Headed Gajiltron Dragon’s ability and equip a second Gajiltron Dragon to it, giving it 8000 ATK points! I now activate Monster Reborn to bring back my third Gajiltron Dragon (3000 ATK)! NOW TRI-HEADED GAJILTRON DRAGON, ATTACK WINGED HELL DEMON! GAJILTRON DRAGON, ATTACK THE FLAME WINGMAN NOW!” “I activate my facedown Negate Attack! I take no damage and your turn is over!” Greg drew his next card (Graceful Charity) “I activate the Spell Card Graceful Charity! I get to draw 3 cards (Elemental Hero Bubbleman, Elemental Hero Necroshade, Bubble Shuffle) but I have to discard two of them (Necroshade and Avian). I then set one card facedown and then I summon Elemental Hero Bubbleman in ATK mode! And since I have no cards in my hand, I can draw two more thanks to Bubbleman’s ability! (Elemental Hero Bladedge and Elemental Hero Sparkman) I now activate the final card of this duel: Bubble Shuffle! I switch Bubbleman and your Tri-Headed Gajiltron Dragon to DEF Mode! I then sacrifice my Bubbleman to Special Summon my Elemental Hero Bladedge! (2600 ATK) And since I have 3 Elemental Heroes in my Graveyard, my Winged Hell Demon gets an extra 1500 ATK points! (4000 ATK) NOW WINGED HELL DEMON, ATTACK HIS GAJILTRON DRAGON WITH HELL FIRE ATTACK!
Greg – 8000 Shobu – 3000
“NOW FLAME WINGMAN, ATTACK THE TRI-HEADED GAJILTRON DRAGON WITH INFERNAL RAGE ATTACK! AND THANKS TO ITS SPECIAL ABILITY, YOU TAKE DAMAGE EQUAL TO YOUR FUSION MONSTER’S ATK POINTS, MEANING THAT THIS DUEL’S OVER!
Greg – 8000 Shobu – 0
Greg walked towards his opponent and looked through his deck, barely comprehending the fact that he was in the finals. After one minute he found the right card, flashed it, and walked away. Nobody tried to follow him, nobody asked him what the card was. Even if he did, he wouldn’t tell them he had chosen the second Virtue card. Greg had chosen Destiny. It read “Make your one light together and follow it” Greg will make his own light and he will follow it…just like someone related to him will do in the future.
