Yu-Gi-Oh! Battle of the Heavens Episode 36: “Welcome to Battle City”
Greetings! I’m your favorite duelist, Greg! Last time on Yu-Gi-Oh! Battle of the Heavens, I just managed to pull off a victory against my cousin Sophia, who was being possessed by Marik, and the Egyptian God cards. Then the two of us met some new kids named Atticus Rhodes (sister of Alexis Rhodes) and my old friend Rose. They decided to join Team Evolution and everything was calm for a while. Anyways, 6 months have passed since Egypt and a whole new Season is under way. Let’s Throw Down! (Jaden screams “HEY!! THAT’S MY LINE!!!!” in the background)
Our story begins in the middle of a duel (What a surprise) between Greg and Joe! Let’s see what’s up…
Greg – 1000 Joe – 2000
Greg has 1 Elemental Hero Clayman in DEF mode (2000 DEF) and 3 cards face down. He also has 1 Miracle Fusion and 1 Polymerization in his hand. Joe has Neo Space face up and Elemental Hero Flare Neos in ATK mode (2500 + 2800 (400 ATK per Spell and Trap on the field)=5300 ATK) and 3 cards face down. He has no cards in his hand. Its Greg’s turn.
“Alright Joe!” Greg called to his opponent as he drew his next card (Elemental Hero Burstinatrix) “Its time to get rid of your Fusion! And your Life Points! I summon Elemental Hero Burstinatrix in ATK mode! I then activate my face-down Polymerization! I fuse Clayman and Burstinatrix together to bring out my Elemental Hero Rampart Blaster! (2000/2500) I then activate Emergency Call! This card allows me to select 1 Elemental Hero in my deck and put it in my hand and I’ll choose my Elemental Hero Avian! I then activate Pot of Greed, which allows me to draw two cards (De-Fusion and Elemental Hero Sparkman). I then play De-Fusion! This card splits my Rampart Blaster back into its separate parts!” “Why did you do that?” Joe asked. “That was a waste of a Polymerization, you know.” Greg smiled. “But just in case you haven’t noticed, your Flare Neos’ ATK has gone down by quite a lot…by at least 1200.” Joe looked at his monster and he saw that Greg was right: Flare Neos had 4100 ATK instead of 5300. “So what? It still can beat you” “Umm…no it can’t because I’m not done yet. I now play Polymerization! I fuse Burstinatrix and Avian together to summon Elemental Hero Flame Wingman (2100 ATK). Now I play the final card of this duel: Miracle Fusion! I remove Flame Wingman and Sparkman from play to summon Elemental Hero Shining Flare Wingman! (2500 ATK) And don’t forget his special ability: he gains 300 ATK points for every Elemental Hero in my graveyard! And since I have 6 Elemental Heroes in my graveyard, my monster gains an extra 1800 ATK points, making its ATK 4300! SHINING FLARE WINGMAN, ATTACK FLARE NEOS WITH SHINING SHOCKWAVE! AND JOE, DON’T FORGET ITS OTHER ABILITY: WHENEVER IT DESTROYS A MONSTER, YOU TAKE BATTLE DAMAGE EQUAL TO THE DESTROYED MONSTERS ATK POINTS!” The cascading waves of light crashed into Flare Neos and the monster shattered. The waves of light also hit Joe, depleting his LP.
Greg – 1000 Joe – 0
“And that” Greg said as he put away his cards, “is game” Joe smiled. “You beat me again! I’ll get you next time!” “I’ll be looking forward to it” Greg replied as Violet, Sophia, and Rose came in and turned on the TV. He turned to the three ladies. “What are you…HOLY SMOKE!!! JOE, ATTICUS, JADEN, EVERYBODY LOOK AT THIS!!” The entire team crowded around the TV. Seto Kaiba was on a commercial wearing a duel disk and had a Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon behind him. “Come to Domino City to experience a tournament like no other: Battle City! Duel in the streets and take your opponent’s rarest card! There will be 3 rounds and whoever is left standing wins!” The TV turned off. For several seconds everyone stood in silence, and then Greg spoke. “Well, what should we do?” Violet turned to him. “What do you mean?” Greg flashed a grin. “Which one of us will represent Team Evolution in Battle City?”
* * *
The next day, Greg, Sophia, and Violet entered their names in and were given a duel locator. When the wearer walked next to a person who wanted to duel, it would beep. Then the wearer would decide whether or not to duel. If the person dueled, he or she could not back out. Greg said goodbye to the other two and started walking towards the docks. He felt that he concentrated better near the ocean. About 10 minutes later he was at the seaside. Next to him was a girl about his age (Greg was 15) who looked a lot like him. Greg had a nagging suspicion that he knew her from somewhere, but he couldn’t quite figure it out. Suddenly, his locator started to beep. Greg shot a look at the girl next to him only to find that her locator was beeping as well. As the girl turned, Greg almost gasped: his opponent was none other than his long lost stepsister Christy! The two duelists stared at each other until Christy broke the silence. “Greg” “Christy” Greg nodded “It’s been a while” “Yeah it has” “So I guess we’re opponents” “Has your deck changed?” “Has yours?” “Not really. It’s still Elemental Hero.” “You STILL use those pathetic guys?” “Do you still use those pathetic Guardian monsters?” “You’ll pay for that” “Well, I’m ready to receive the bill” “Get Your Game On!” “Mine’s been on. Is yours on?”
Greg – 8000 Christy – 8000
The two duelists drew 5 cards. Greg’s hand consisted of Elemental Heroes Avian and Sparkman, along with Dark Factory of Mass Production, Polymerization, and Kishido Spirit. Christy had Arsenal Summoner, Cost Down, Marauding Captain, Gravity Axe Grarl, and Deathscythe. Greg went first. Greg drew a card (Elemental Hero Burstinatrix) “I summon Elemental Hero Sparkman in ATK mode (1600 ATK)! I then put two cards face-down (Dark Factory of Mass Production and Kishido Spirit)” Christy drew her card (Kaiser Coliseum) “I set on monster facedown. I then flip it to reveal my Arsenal Summoner (1600/1600), which allows me to select one Guardian in my deck and bring it in my hand and I choose my Guardian Grarl. I then activate Cost Down, which lowers the Levels of all my monsters in my hand by 2. I also equip my Gravity Axe Grarl to my Arsenal Summoner, increasing its ATK by 500 (2100 ATK). I then summon my Marauding Captain in ATK mode (1200/400) and due to its effect I can Special Summon my Guardian Grarl in ATK mode! (2500/1000) Now, Guardian Grarl, attack Sparkman with Gravity Axe Attack! Arsenal Summoner and Marauding Captain, attack Greg directly!”
Greg – 3800 Christy – 8000
Greg drew his next card (Frozen Soul) “I activate the Trap Card Frozen Soul! You can’t attack next turn. I then play Polymerization! I fuse Avian and Sparkman together to summon my Elemental Hero Flame Wingman! (2100 ATK) I then play Dark Factory of Mass Production, which allows me to bring back Sparkman and Avian to my hand. And don’t forget I can still normal summon a monster, so I summon my Sparkman in ATK mode. And before I attack, I activate the Spell Card Kishido Spirit, which means my Flame Wingman won’t die if he attacks a monster whose ATK is the same as his! Sparkman, attack Marauding Captain now with Static Shockwave! Flame Wingman, attack her Arsenal Summoner with Infernal Rage! And thanks to his ability, you take damage equal to Arsenal Summoner’s ATK points!”
Greg – 3800 Christy – 5500
Christy drew her next card (Pot of Greed) “I play Pot of Greed, which allows mean to draw two more cards (Butterfly Dagger Elma and Guardian Elma). I then equip my Butterfly Dagger Elma to my Guardian Grarl, increasing its ATK by 300 points (2800 ATK). I then summon my Guardian Elma (1300/1200), which allows me to bring back by Gravity Axe Grarl and equip it to my Elma, increasing its ATK by 500 points (1800/1200). And since I can’t attack, I’ll play Kaiser Coliseum, which stops you from playing more monsters then me.” Greg drew his next card (Polymerization). “But Christy, that doesn’t stop me from playing my Fusions! I activate Polymerization, which fuses my Flame Wingman and Sparkman together to summon Elemental Hero Shining Flare Wingman! (2500/2100) And since I have 3 Heroes in my Graveyard, Shining Flare Wingman gets and extra 900 ATK points, increasing its ATK to 3400! I then summon Elemental Hero Burstinatrix in DEF mode (800 DEF). NOW SHINING FLARE WINGMAN, USE YOUR SHINING SHOCKWAVE TO GET RID OF THAT ANNOYING GUARDIAN GRARL! AND THANKS TO ITS SPECIAL ABILITY, YOU ARE DEALT DAMAGE EQUAL TO GRARL’S ATK AS WELL!”
Greg – 3800 Christy – 2100
Christy drew her next card (Pot of Greed) “Since it went to the graveyard, my Butterfly Dagger comes back to my hand and now I equip it to Elma (2100 ATK). I now activate my Pot of Greed, which allows me to draw two cards (DNA Surgery and Monster Reborn) (Greg mutters, “Is everyone breaking the rules nowadays or is it just me?”). I then play Monster Reborn to bring back my Guardian Grarl. I then sacrifice my two monsters to summon my ultimate beast: DEATHSCYTHE! (2300 ATK) NOW, ATTACK BURSTINATRIX RIGHT NOW WITH SWIRLING SCYTHE ATTACK!” Greg drew his next card (Pot of Greed) “I activate Pot of Greed, which allows me to draw two cards (Mystical Space Typhoon and Monster Reborn) I play Mystical Space Typhoon, which destroys your Kaiser Coliseum! Now I play the final card of this duel: MONSTER REBORN! I’LL NOW REVIVE MY SPARKMAN AND SWITCH BURSTINATRIX TO ATK MODE! NOW MY HEROES, ATTACK CHRISTY RIGHT NOW!” The three heroes linked hands and sent out waves of fire, light, and lightning that crashed through Deathscythe, destroying it, and depleting the rest of Christy’s LP.
Greg – 3800 Christy – 0
Christy picked herself up and managed a weak smile. “Well, take your pick at one of my cards” Greg took her deck and looked through it. It certainly had changed over the years. Greg’s eyes lingered on Kaiser Coliseum for a moment and then passed it, looking onward. He then noticed a card called Fuh-Rin-Ka-Zan. It was a trap card that was great for an Elemental Deck. He took the card out, flashed it at Christy, and pocketed it. “I’ll take this one” Christy nodded and Greg turned to leave. Suddenly, Christy asked, “Greg, can I ask you something?” Greg stopped and turned around. “Sure” “Why didn’t you take Kaiser Coliseum? I saw to hesitate when you saw it.” Greg took a deep breath. “When I considered taking it, I remembered a day long ago. A little boy was helping a little girl out with her deck. She had the right strategy, but not enough support. I gave her several cards to help her out. One of them…was that same exact copy of Kaiser Coliseum. That little girl was you and that little boy was me. I just figured that you’d like to keep something that reminded you of times when we were friends, not enemies. I just thought…you’d like to remember.” Greg turned again, but Christy grabbed his arm and hugged him tightly. “Thank you…my brother.” Greg returned the hug and then left. The matters of the past had been removed and he had gained a new friend. Now its time to check on Violet and Sophia, Greg thought. Little did he know that everything would soon change.
End of Episode
Hey, it’s me Greg again! Alright, now that was a good duel not to mention a really cool character in Christy. The next episode has a duel between Violet and Sophia in store. Man, I wouldn’t want to be Sophia… (Sophia slams duel disk into Greg’s head and knocks him out) Anyway, Sophia here. Read and tell the marvelous author of this episode any suggestions or complaints. See ya! |
