Episode 34: “Battle of the Gods, Part 2”
Greg waited for Sophia/Marik to do her/his turn. He wanted to save his cousin as fast as possible.
Sophia drew her next card (Pot of Greed). “I activate Jar of Greed, which allows me to draw a new card (Kuriboh) I then summon my Kuriboh. I then activate Infinite Cards and Multiply. Infinite Cards allows me to have an unlimited hand while Multiply gives me 5 Kuribohs! I sacrifice three Kuriboh in order to summon a creature whose power is absolutely limitless: THE EGYPTIAN GOD, SLIFER THE SKY DRAGON!”
Three lightning bolts struck down three Kuriboh. Suddenly, a huge roar resounded through the tomb. The sky appeared to open and down came a brilliant red dragon: Slifer.
Unfortunately, Sophia/Marik wasn’t done yet. “I now activate the Spell card Pot of Greed, which allows me to draw two cards (Manticore of Darkness and Pot of Greed) “I then activate another Pot of Greed-”
“Hey!” Greg exclaimed suddenly. “You can’t do that! That’s cheating!”
“I just did” Sophia/Marik replied. “Anyway I play Pot of Greed and draw two more cards (Generation Shift and Card of Safe Return) I then play Card of Safe Return! Card of Safe Return allows me to draw a card whenever I Special Summon a monster. I then play Generation Shift, allowing me to discard one card in my hand and search for the card with the same name and put it into my hand and I choose Manticore of Darkness. I then sacrifice my two Kuriboh to summon my Manticore of Darkness. I then sacrifice my Manticore to Special Summon my other Manticore, allowing me to draw a card. I do this process over and over until I have 5 cards in my hand (Winged Dragon of Ra, Fiend’s Sanctuary, Pole Position, Swords of Revealing Light, and Jar of Greed) I then play Pole Position, which makes my Slifer immune to Spells, Traps, and Monsters! And since I have 4 cards in my hand, Slifer gets and extra 4000 ATK points! (4000/4000) which I think is more than enough to get rid of that pesky Flame Wingman, along with Hermos! NOW SLIFER, ATTACK THE FLAME WINGMAN WITH DIVINE FIRE!”
Greg – 1900 Sophia/Marik – 4300
Greg drew his next card (Pot of Greed). “I play Pot of Greed to draw two cards (Clayman and Swords of Revealing Light). I then summon Elemental Hero Clayman in DEF mode and then I activate Swords of Revealing, meaning that you can’t attack for three turns.”
Sophia drew her next card (Mirror Force) “I set one card face-down”
Greg drew his next card (Righteous Justice) “I play Righteous Justice! For every Elemental Hero on my side of the field, I can destroy one of you Spell or Trap cards. And I think I’ll choose your POLE POSITION! AND SINCE SLIFER IS CONNECTED TO POLE POSITION, HE IS DESTROYED AS WELL!”
“WHAT?!?!?!” Sophia/Marik shrieked.
“Oh yeah!”
Sophia/Marik drew her next card (Pot of Avarice) “I play Pot of Avarice. I shuffle my 5 monster cards into my deck in order to draw two more cards (Kaibaman and BEWD). I then summon Kaibaman and I sacrifice it in order to summon BLUE EYES WHITE DRAGON! AND SINCE YOUR SWORDS OF REVEALING LIGHT IS GONE, MY DRAGON ATTACKS YOUR CLAYMAN!”
Greg drew his next card (Swords of Revealing Light) “Hey Marik, here’s another one of those Swords of Revealing Lights. You can’t attack for three turns”
Sophia/Marik drew her next card (Luster Dragon) “I summon Luster Dragon in ATK mode (1900 ATK)
Greg drew his next card (Pot of Avarice) “I play Pot of Avarice! I shuffle five monsters into my library in order to draw two more cards (Avian and Sparkman).”
Sophia/Marik drew her next card (Luster Dragon) “I summon another Luster Dragon”
Greg drew his next card (Future Fusion) “I play Future Fusion! I send Avian, Sparkman, and Bubbleman to my graveyard.”
“That’s it?” Sophia/Marik asked incredulously.
“That’s it” Greg replied, trying to stop a smile from coming to his face.
Sophia/Marik drew her next card (Winged Dragon of Ra) “YOUR DOOM HAS BEEN SEALED! I SACRIFICE MY THREE MONSTERS IN ORDER TO SUMMON THE MOST SUPREME EGYPTIAN GOD: THE WINGED DRAGON OF RA (6600/6600)! AND I WILL NOW GIVE 400 LP TO BOOST MY DRAGON’S ATK AND DEF BY 400 POINTS (7000/7000) ON MY NEXT TURN, YOU ARE HISTORY!”
Greg – 1900 Sophia/Marik – 3900
Greg drew his next card (Timeaus) “Hey Marik, you forgot something: FUTURE FUSION! Since two turns has passed, I can summon my Elemental Hero Tempest! I now summon the Atlantean Dragon Timeaus. Now my dragon, merge with my Tempest to form…(dragon and Tempest fuse)…TEMPEST DRAGON!”
The majestic dragon stood behind his master, baring its teeth at the Winged Dragon of Ra. Greg looked determined. “Marik, you will lose this duel. If the Gods are with me, you…WILL…LOSE!”
