I sit in my room alone,
Allowing my thoughts to roam,
So I can look back at the past year,
So I can put it behind me and start 08 in high-gear.
2007 wasn’t all sunshine and roses,
As we were still trying to recover from a disaster worthy of one brought by Moses,
Enemies and obstacles delayed us at every turn,
Sometimes we got so angry that our eyes began to burn,
But we began construction in the month that’s second to last,
So now all that’s a thing of the past.
This year I pined for a certain girl,
Who’s nice, funny, and makes my stomach swirl,
With happiness I have rarely felt before,
But she just shut the door,
Saying that we were better off as we are,
I didn’t say it but now my heat has a scar.
Coming and going,
Dozing and mowing,
That’s what I did that summer by the lake,
With a family full of friends to make,
But two boys stood out most of all,
They were always around when I came to call,
I am very fortunate to have met them,
And we have started a friendship that will last longer than Shem.
I now finally understand,
As I sit here and look at my hand,
That no matter how forward I go,
I will always have friends in tow,
It’s a bond no one can sever,
So in 2008, nothing’s different, ever.
