“Come here sister!” the little boy cried
“Take a look at what I have spied!”
His sister came a-running down the sandy slope
Her girly features brimming with hope
“My brother, what have you found?” asked she
He exclaimed “Something better than the miracle at Galilee”
He pointed to a small body of water a few feet below
And to the sister, it was the greatest sight he could ever bestow
The brother put his hand on her shoulder and said “I hope you can swim, for your sake
For now we are by the lake”
For the whole day the two of them splashed and played
When they rested, they did so in the nearby glade
They built sand castles so high
It looked like they could reach the sky!
Soon evening came upon them
And the moon above sparkled like a gem
Solemnly the boy and girl walked home
Their feet still covered with lakey foam
The boy turned to his sister and said
“Don’t be so sad sister, for tomorrow’s a new day
The sooner we go to bed
The sooner we can come to the lake and play!”
