Yu-Gi-Oh! Battle of the Heavens Episode 28: “Battle of the World, Part 5”
Dartz drew his next card (Archfiend Soldier). He was dueling his son to determine if the time would be restored. Right now, he was winning. “I summon Archfiend Soldier in ATK mode (1900 ATK).” Greg drew his next card (Polymerization). “I activate Return from a Different Dimension! I bring back Avian, Sparkman, Clayman, and Bubbleman. I then play Polymerization! I fuse my 5 monsters together to summon E-HERO ELIXIR! (2800 ATK) I then activate Monster Reborn to bring back E-HERO SHINING FLARE WINGMAN! And since I have 8 E-Heroes in my graveyard, Shining Flare Wingman gets another 2400 ATK points (4900 ATK)! Also, whenever a creature with an attribute comes into play, Elixir gets an extra 500 ATK points (3300 ATK). Shining Flare Wingman attacks Dark Guardian, which inflicts 900 damage to your LP without destroying your monster. Elixir also attacks your Soldier.”
Greg – 1600 Dartz – 2550
Dartz drew his next card (Brron, Mad King of Dark World) “I activate Dark World Lightning! I send one of your face-down cards to the graveyard while I discard my draw to Special Summon Brron, Mad King of Dark World in DEF mode! (Elixir: 3800 ATK)” But then Dartz realized that he was at the monster carrying capacity! Greg drew his next card (Fairy Box). “I set one card face down. SHINING FLARE WINGMAN, ATTACK BRRON WITH THUNDERFORCE STRIKE! ELIXIR, ATTACK SILLVA WITH ELEMENTAL STORM!”
Greg – 1600 Dartz – 1050
Dartz drew his next card (Dark World Lightning) “Dark Guardian attacks your Elixir!”
Greg – 1400 Dartz – 1050
Greg was about to draw his next card when…RRRRROOOOAAAARRRR! A humungous roar resonated through the remains of the room! Greg shot a glance at Dartz, who was actually smiling! “You know what that is?” Dartz asked softly. “N-n-o” Greg said as the floor shook beneath his feet. Suddenly the floor burst open. Shattered pieces of rocks flew everywhere. When the dust cleared, All of Dartz’s monsters were gone. In their place was a gigantic serpent. However, right when he saw it, Greg knew what it was. “No, oh no” Greg breathed. “Oh yes!” Dartz cried. “The Great Beast has returned! Throw out five of your best stuff at it: Tempest, Shining Flare Wingman, UFOroid Fighter, Dark Paladin, and Elixir. Summon all of them. Then you’ll see the true power of the Great Beast” Greg did what Dartz told him. As the seconds passed, the two sides stood staring at one another. Then, suddenly, the Great Beast unleashed a rainbow-colored energy from its mouth that consumed all five of Greg’s monsters! But somehow, when the dust cleared, Tempest was still there. Even without wanting too, Greg looked at his duel disk: He had 100 LP. Suddenly, Orange, Purple, and Green light swirled around him. Electricity of different colors flashed and crackled up and down his duel disk. When everything stopped, Timaeus, Hermos, and Critias were standing around him. Draw you next card Critias hissed. When Greg complied, he almost gasped out of shock. “I play LEGACY OF HEART!” Greg shouted, holding the card up in the air. Behind Greg, the three dragons were surrounded with their own light. When it all stopped, three knights stood in their place. They walked beside Tempest, their blades crackling with mystic energy. “Now my knights, use your infinite power on Tempest to make him stronger. (They complied) Now my monsters, unleash your energies! Attack the Great Beast now!” Four different types of energy whirled around the Great Beast. It shrieked and howled in pain. Dartz was in pain too, for he was and the floor, thrashing around. But Greg wasn’t paying attention: The remainder of his strength was on Legacy of Heart. Suddenly, there was an enormous explosion. Shockwaves of power rolled over everyone. When the shockwaves ceased, the Great Beast and Dartz were gone. Greg crumpled beneath his own weight. He was exhausted. Only one thought went into his brain: I stopped Dartz. I won. In his darkening vision, he thought he saw a shadow loom over him. Then he blacked out.
* * *
When Greg woke up, he was in his won bed with his left arm in a sling. He was confused at first, now he remembered everything: The knights, Tempest, the Great Beast… He got out of bed silently but he didn’t have too: the room was empty. He remembered his vision. There was only one way to stop it. He needed to talk to Jaden. While he walked in the hallway, Greg noticed that many students were cold-shouldering him. Why is everyone like this? Greg wondered. Suddenly, Bastion Misawa, a Ra and Sophia’s boyfriend, stepped in front of Greg. “So, you’re the kid who restored time, eh?” “Yeah” Greg said cautiously. “So? What’s your point?” “I’m just saying that you did a good job” Bastion said quickly. But Greg knew there was more. “You think it was my fault, don’t you?” “No, no, no. I’m just saying-” “BLAZES TO WHAT YOU SAY! YOU HAVEN’T SEEN SOPHIA ABDUCTED! YOU HAVEN’T BEEN KIDNAPPED BY A MENTAL EGYPTIAN PERSON! YOU DON’T HAVE A FATHER WHO IS NOW DEAD BECAUSE OF YOU! YOU DON’T HAVE THE WEIGHT OF THE UNIVERSE ON YOUR SHOULDERS, DO YOU?!” “That-” “YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND! NONE OF YOU DO! EVERYONE KEEPS GAWKING AT ME JUST BECAUSE I AM THE BEST DUELIST IN THIS SCHOOL! I KEPT TELLING YOU IDIOTS TO LEAVE ME ALONE! IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK FOR? “No, but-” “WHY DON’T YOU GUYS LEAVE ME ALONE?!” Greg was practically screeching now. Everyone in the hallway was looking at them and listening. “I SAVED YOUR LIVES, AND YOU BLAME ME FOR WHAT WENT WRONG! I ALMOST DIED DOWN THERE! I COULD’VE LEFT YOU GUYS TRAPPED IN TIME IF I WANTED TO, BUT I FELT THAT I OWED IT TO YOU! I GUESS I WAS WRONG WASN’T I?” Greg then stomped away, ignoring the stunned faces of him fellow students. He was so absorbed in his own thoughts that he almost walked into Jaden’s office door. As he walked in he noticed that there was a new secretary on duty. “Hi” she said cheerfully. “Can I see Jaden?” Greg asked. “It’s an emergency.” “All right” she said. “And by the way, I’m Alexis Rhodes” Greg ignored her and walked through the door. When h entered the room, he stopped short: In the room, besides Jaden, were Violet, Sophia, Zane, Bastion (he glared at Greg, but he ignored him), and Syrus. Violet, upon seeing Greg, gave a cry and hugged him. Greg hugged her back, feeling relieved. After they released each other, Greg walked over to Zane. “Sorry about that duel” Greg muttered. “It’s no trouble.” Zane said. He held out his hand. Greg stared at it for a moment and then smiled. “Friends” he said as he grasped Zane’s hand firmly. Finally, Greg turned to Jaden. “Jaden, with your permission, I would like to drop out from this school.” “WHAT?!” everyone shouted. “You can’t leave!” Violet protested. “I have too, and you can’t come with me. I had a vision down there. There is more evil on the horizon, and I’m the only one who can stop it.” “Why don’t you take Sophia and Violet along?” Jaden asked. “They proven themselves worthy” Greg looked at Sophia and Violet. “You game?” They smiled. “Game” Greg turned to the Zane and Bastion. “Of course, we can’t do it alone…” Zane smiled. “I’m with you” Bastion shrugged. “I’m not about to let the best duelist we’ve seen in a long time (Jaden coughed)—I mean, in two years—go putting himself into trouble” Greg looked at Jaden. “From now on, if you want to call us, just say our name:” “TEAM EVOLUTION!”
the beginning is at an end, but now the end is just beginning.
