Yu-Gi-Oh! Battle of Heavens

Episode 23: “The Gate of Atlantis”

Greg and his cousin Sophia were strolling down the streets of Atlantis. They had recently freed the three Atlantean Dragons from captivity. Greg, right now, was reviewing everything he had learned at the Academy that could help him in his duel against his father, Dartz.

You do not need those teachings. You have us. With our powers, you will claim victory, Izabran Neki”

The combined voices of Critias, Hermos, and Timaeus floated through his mind. Izabran Neki. The Chosen One. They had been calling him that lately. Not only the dragons: the people had started to call them that too. They had also mentioned something else: Sudbina Vrata. The Doom Gate: the possible entrance to Dartz’s citadel. It was rumored that it was guarded by three tests.

Three tests, three dragons, Greg thought. One dragon for each test.

Sophia turned to him. “Where are we going?”

Greg pointed to the tall tower in the distance. “Sudbina Vrata. The Doom Gate”

Sophia didn’t say anything else after that.

A little while later, the two arrived at Sudbina Vrata. Greg stared at the gate. There was an imprint of a hand on it. If his sources were correct, only Dartz or a descendent of him could enter through this way.

Greg looked at his gauntlet, and then he had an idea. He then sent a message to Critias which said:

Zmaj, udružiti se obrana!”

The dragons complied and when it was finished, the gauntlet flowed with green, orange, and purple energy. On the back of the hand it had a marking: The Fang of Critias.

Greg turned to Sophia. She had helped him out a lot in Atlantis, but Greg felt that he needed to do this alone. Sophia in turn whispered “Portal od Čudovište , Open!” Suddenly, a bluish portal opened next up them. E-Hero Tempest was standing in front of it. He took one look at the gauntlet and smiled. “I assume that you found the dragons?”

“Yeah” Greg said. “But now I think it is best for me to go on alone.”

Sophia turned to him. “WHAT DO YOU MEEN ‘IT IS BEST FOR ME TO GO ON ALONE?’! HAVEN’T YOU LEARNED ANYTHING?!”

“Keep it down” Greg implored. “Sophia, you know how Dartz is, he’ll pick you off first in hopes that I will concede. I just have a feeling that I need to go on alone. This is my fight.”

Tempest had been listening to their ‘argument’ and now spoke up. “Sophia, I believe Greg is right on this one. Let him go on alone.”

Greg still faced Sophia. “Go back into the portal and stay there. Tempest,” he turned to him, “I want you to pull me out after the duel is over. You understand? Right when the duel is over, pull me into the portal.”

“Got it” Tempest acknowledged. “Come Sophia and good luck Greg!”

When the portal disappeared, Greg placed his gauntlet hand into the imprint. It fit perfectly. Without a sound, an archway appeared. Greg took a deep breath and walked into the blackness.

He had been walking for about 5 minutes when he entered a new room. It was hot and filled with komodo dragons. On the other side was a hulking Orikalcos Soldier. Greg looked at his duel disk, but it wasn’t working. Greg then realized that one of the dragons could help him for each room, but if he chose the wrong one, he might not be able to continue! Greg walked slowly towards the Soldier. When it noticed him, it started to walk towards him. Greg raised his gauntlet hand and shouted “Oporaviti se mene Zelen Zmaj!” There was a brilliant flash of green light and suddenly Timaeus appeared, ready for battle.

Of course, the Soldier was struck dumb by this sudden appearance. Greg immediately took the advantage. “Zmaj , osigurač zajedno sa komodo!” The dragon became surrounded with a beautiful flash of light and when it disappeared, a new monster that was half dragon-half komodo was in front of Greg. Greg, who was momentary stunned, pulled himself together and shouted “Napasti!” and then the great beast unleashed a humungous fireball that incinerated the Orikalcos Solider and 5 different lizards in the way. Greg dismissed Timaeus and walked towards the gateway that led to inky blackness

When Greg arrived at the next room he wished that he had bothered to bring a weapon: The floor was littered with 5 ft long diamonds with pointy ends and at the other end of the room, and rapidly coming towards him, was an Atlantean Fanatic Soldier. Greg dodged from the first strike and he reviewed everything he knew about fanatics: They were mostly used as commandos, they had two blades, and they answered only to the king. Greg, again, wished he had a weapon and then realized he did! He climbed on to a rock, raised his gauntlet hand, and shouted “Oporaviti se mene Naranča Zmaj!

Suddenly, Hermos, in all his glory, appeared. Greg knew that he needed a weapon so he told the dragon “Preobraziti dijamant to oštrica!” and in a brilliant flash of light, the diamond closest to him turned into a majestic blade.

Greg, who had taken fencing classes, started out slow. He went on the defensive, parrying every move. Then, while he parried a downward strike from both swords, shoved the Fanatic back and plunged his sword into the ground. A humungous crack appeared and since the Fanatic was right on the crack, he fell in, along with millions of diamonds.

Greg dismissed Hermos and walked through the archway. Greg knew that Critias was to be used in the last trial, but how would he be used?

Greg stared around the room in front of him:

It was a dark room. It was all silent.

Suddenly, a shadow off to Greg’s left moved. He dove out of the way just in time: a humungous stream of real fire had shot at him. The shadow moved again. This time, the fire came from behind. Greg barely ducked in time.

As he dodged the fiery jets, Greg kept his eyes pealed for something to merge Critias. But there was nothing!

As if by chance, Greg glanced at his duel disk and then did a double take: It was working!

Greg climbed upon a rock, activated his duel disk, and shouted “Oporaviti se mene Purpurna boja Zmaj!

In a majestic flash of light, Critias appeared. Greg then shouted “Critias, fuse together with my Draining Shield to become LIFE SHIELD DRAGON! ATTACK!”

The great dragon unleashed rainbow energy that struck the shadow head on. Greg then dismissed Critias and walked towards the archway.

Greg entered the next room.

Across from him was his father, Dartz. He had a sneer on his face. “So, you made it” he said softly.

“Yes, and I’m here to set everything right!” Greg snarled as he activated his duel disk.

“Well, then.” Dartz said as he activated his own duel disk.

“Let’s duel”
