Yu-Gi-Oh! Battle of the Heavens

Episode 22: “Search for the Dragons”

Greg was sleeping.

In his head, he saw himself in a duel. He was losing. Suddenly, three bright flashes of light surrounded him. When it died away, three majestic dragons were standing by him. He drew his next card to reveal…

Greg awoke with a start.

He looked around him. Yes, he was still in the strange portal. Next to him lay Sophia, who was also asleep. Suddenly, a voice called out to them:

“Greg and Sophia, come here!”

Sophia awoke right when Greg spun around to face E-Hero Tempest. Sophia stole a glance at Greg. He looked furious. “How come I lost?” Greg snarled.

Tempest looked calm. ‘Because of the prophecy”

“What prophecy?” Sophia wondered.

“The prophecy about a boy who could never lose a duel, except to his own father. Greg is that boy. Greg is the one to save us.”

Greg blew out a long breath. “Tell me what to do.”

“You must journey into Atlantis and find the three dragons. They are hidden in there. You will face many enemies along the way, but who have many friends to help you. Also, take this.” Tempest handed Greg a gauntlet. “This gauntlet will help you detect the dragons. And it will hide your scar.”

“What about our duel disks?” Greg asked.

“Leave them on you. Remember that the past, present, and future have all mixed now. So people will have duel disks.”

“All right.” Greg said. “Open the portal and we’ll get going.”

While Greg and Sophia walked out of the portal, Tempest stared at their backs. Right before the portal closed, he muttered “Good Luck, Escolhido

“All right.” Greg said. “Where in the heck are we?”

Sophia looked around. They were in Atlantis, all right. But they had wandered around so much that they had gotten lost.

Suddenly, heavy footsteps approached them. “HEY! OVER HERE!” Sophia shouted.

Greg quickly dragged her away from the sound. “Those aren’t people” Greg said. “Those are-ooff” Greg had walked into something hard. “Orikalcos Soldiers” he finished.

The thing Greg walked into turned around. She was pretty old, even by Atlantean standards. Greg noticed her clothes and realized she was a shaman.

The old lady stared at Greg for a few seconds, and then muttered “Escolhido. The Chosen One. It cannot be.”

Sophia shot Greg a look, but Greg ignored her. “Sorry, but what do who mean?”

The shaman stared at Greg. “You are the Chosen One. You are the one who restore everything.”

“Yeah, well I don’t have the..." Suddenly, Greg stopped. His gauntlet was pulsing rapidly. “One of the Dragons is here.” Greg muttered. Suddenly, Greg shouted at the old lady: “De senhora a dragon, de tempo a tempo outra vez, revele você mesmo a mim!

Sophia gasped. The old lady was swirling into a multi-complex of light. Green light.

Greg stared into the light, with a look of disbelief on his face. Suddenly, the light vanished to reveal a huge green dragon. Greg stared at it and muttered a single word:

“Timaeus”

Greg and Sophia were walking down the streets of Atlantis, this time with one-fourth of the mission done. They now were looking for Hermos.

Suddenly, an armored hand grabbed Greg from the shoulders! Another pushed Sophia onto the pavement. When her vision unclouded, she saw a squad of Orikalcos Soldiers leading Greg away. She bolted after them, making sure she stayed in the shadows.

Meanwhile, Greg was thinking furiously. How was he going to get out of this?

As if it read its mind, the Orikalcos Soldier on his right gave a mechanical chuckle. “Don’t you try anything, Escolhido. Master Dartz wants you dead. So that it what we shall do.”

They lead Greg to a back ally. One of them forced him to kneel with his head bowed while another took an orange sword. Greg saw this, and something clicked. Orange …Dragons…

Suddenly, a blast of white lightning went through the Soldier holding Greg. He looked up to see him facing Sophia, with her duel disk activated, with a Blue Eyes White Dragon ready to release another White Lightning Attack. “Greg, say…whatever you have to say!” She shouted. “I’ll hold them off!”

Greg looked directly at the sword that could have killed him, and began to speak:

De espada a dragon, de tempo a tempo outra vez, revele você mesmo a mim!

But nothing happened!

“Greg!” Sophia shrieked! “What is going on?!”

“I don’t know!” Greg shouted back. “The gauntlet is pulsing, and I am using the Atlantean language, but I have no clue why He isn’t showing himself!” Then it hit him: Maybe He needed a different language!

Da spada a drago, da tempo a tempo di nuovo, verbo transitivo a mi!

Suddenly, the sword leaped out of the Soldier’s hand. It started to swirl around and around, light flowing all around it. Suddenly, it stopped and standing in the sword’s place was an orange dragon!

Greg grinned. “All right, Sophia! Let’s get out of here! The gauntlet is almost complete: we just need Critias!”

“Keep your wits around you” Greg advised.

They were in an Atlantean marketplace. People were bustling all around them. It was evening and they had been looking for Critias for two hours now.

Suddenly, they floor beneath them opened! Greg tried to grab the edge, but he was already falling…

Greg opened his eyes.

He was in a tunnel. How did I get here? Greg wondered. Then it all came to him: Critias…the trap door…

Suddenly, Sophia came out of the blackness. “Come with me!” she said eagerly. “I think I found a way out!” Greg, realizing that he didn’t have a choice, got up and followed her.

They had been walking for a little while when Sophia screamed “WATCH OUT!”

Greg looked around. In their path was a purple komodo dragon with a rope tied to its leg. The rope led up to the ceiling where there were 20 huge boulders ready to crush them.

“That was a close one” Sophia breathed. “Don’t you think so Greg?”

But Greg was not paying attention. He was too busy staring at the Komodo dragon. He was sure that was Critias. Suddenly, the gauntlet started to pulse rapidly. :”We’ve found Critias!” Greg shouted. He turned to the dragon again and began to speak in Atlantis’ third primary language:

Van komodo aan draak, van tijd aan tijid opnieuw, openbaar zelf aan me!

As the komodo swirled into a body of light, Greg began chanting again:

Um, dois, três,

Vindo a mim!

Dragons de esperança

Dragons de tempo

Dragons de tudo bom e direita,

Vindo a min

There, Sophia”, Greg said after he finished the chant. “Now we shall see”

Suddenly, two more swirling masses of light joined the first one. When everything stopped, the three dragons stood before them: Critias, Timaeus, and Hermos.

Greg smiled grimly. “Now we can take on Dartz”

Dartz stared out his palace window. There had been a lot of rumors flying around: Greg returning, the dragons being found…some were even talking about a “Chosen One”!

Surprisingly, Dartz smiled. “It has begun”
