Episode 12: “Champion, Part 3”
Greg looked at his deck. He was one of the two left standing in the 2 on 2 duel he was in. His only opponent was Seto Kaiba, who had a Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon on the field. Greg closed his eyes as he drew his card. When he opened them, he discovered his Queen’s Knight! “I summon my Queen’s Knight in ATK mode. I then activate the Spell card Swords of Revealing Light!”
Kaiba was now worried. He couldn’t attack! If he had a Mystical Space Typhoon as a draw card, he won…but his draw card was a Wingbeat of Giant Dragon. He had no intention of sending his Ultimate Dragon away! “I’ll put one card face-down”
Greg drew his next card (Jack’s Knight) He need one more card and then he won! “I summon Jack’s Knight in ATK mode!”
Kaiba drew his next card (Dragon Treasure) He was growing desperate. He needed a plan now! “I equip my Dragon Treasure to Ultimate Dragon (4800 ATK).”
Greg drew his King’s Knight next. “I discard my King’s Knight to draw one more card” Greg looked at his deck. If the card wasn’t at the top of his deck, he lost! If it was, it all relied on luck! Either way, he was facing a possible loss. Greg drew his next card. He gave a silent shout of joy. It was his Fairy Box! “I put one card face-down. I then activate my Fusion Recovery. I return Polymerization and King’s Knight to my hand. I then special summon King’s Knight in ATK mode due to its effect. I then play Polymerization. NOW SAY HELLO TO ARCANA KNIGHT JOKER, THE ULTIMATE ROYAL SWORDSMAN!”
“Greg! Have you forgotten something? Sword’s effect has stopped! BLUE EYES ULTIMATE DRAGON, ATTACK!”
“Sorry Kaiba! I activate TWO cards: Draining Shield and Fairy Box! I get to flip a coin. If its heads, Ultimate Dragon has 0 ATK! If I lose the toss, the attack will be absorbed by Draining Shield!” Greg watched the holographic coin flip. This was a huge gamble because if he lost, he only had one more shot! The coin revolved slowly to the tails side. Greg had lost the flip and had gained 4800 LP thanks to Draining Shield. (Note: Greg has to pay 500 LP during his end phases)
Greg: 7200 Kaiba: 6200
Greg drew his next card. (United We Stand) “I equip United We Stand to Arcana Knight Joker. I then pay 2000 LP to activate Dimension Fusion. I summon Clayman, Burstinatrix, and Avian. Since I have 4 monsters on the field, Joker gets an extra 2400 ATK and DEF (grand total of 6200 ATK!)!”
Kaiba didn’t bother to look at his draw card. “BLUE EYES ULTIMATE DRAGON, ATTACK AVIAN WITH NEUTRON BLAST!”
“Kaiba, you just triggered Fairy Box!” Greg and Kaiba both held their breaths as the coin was flipped. This could decide the outcome of the duel!
It was heads! “Kaiba, your Ultimate Dragon is destroyed! You committed suicide!”
Greg: 6700 Kaiba: 5200
“ARCANA KNIGHT JOKER, ATTACK HIS LP DIRECTLY AND FINISH HIM OFF!”
Greg: 6700 Kaiba: 0
“NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!” yelled Kaiba. “I’M THE BEST DUELIST HERE! NOT YOU!”
“But apparently, I won. Meaning that I AM the best duelist at the Academy!”
Greg, leaving Kaiba to mope, walked down to his cheering section. Violet and Sophia both gave him a hug that cracked a couple of bones, but he took it. He knew he deserved it. He was the best duelist in the entire school!
