Episode 18: “United We Stand, Part 1”

“So” the voice in the shadow said. “Marik has failed me again. Greg has not cracked yet. I guess I’ll have to send Noah.”
“No master!” Zane fell to his knees. “Let me go instead. They’ll never suspect it.”
“You’re right. You can go. But know this Zane: if you lose, you lose your soul”
“I won’t!” Zane ran to the elevator shaft and got in. that shaft led to the Duelist Academy entry hall.
The person stepped out of the shadows to reveal himself. “So” Dartz said. “Greg is nearly within my grasp…”
Duelist Academy
“Got you!” shouted Violet.
“I don’t think so! Greg teased as he reappeared.
“Will you lovebirds quit it?!” Sophia groaned.
Greg, Violet, and Sophia were at the beach to celebrate the first day of spring vacation. Greg and Violet were in the water while Sophia stayed on the shore doing a last minute review for a test next week.
“Come-hey!” Greg explained as Violet pounced on him from behind, which caused him to fall face-first into the water. Violet laughed and Sophia cracked a smile as Greg reappeared, soaking wet. “As I was saying,” Greg said. “Sophia, stop doing homework. You can study later.”
“It isn’t my fault that I didn’t do it in class like you and Violet” Sophia said.
“Well, we had nothing better to do!”
“Yeah, except reorganizing your decks, having short duels, and chatting on your PDAs”
“Having fun?” someone asked.
Greg and Violet got out of the water when Jaden appeared. “Hi!” the three friends said.
“Greg” Jaden said. “Zane wants to talk to you in the entrance hall”
“We’ll be right there” Greg said. Greg put on his clothes, strapped on his duel disk, put his deck in, and raced to the Academy.
“What do you think Zane wants?” Violet asked.
“We’ll find out.” Greg answered.
When they arrived, Zane was alone. He sneered when he saw Greg and his friends. “How about a rematch?” He sneered.
“You’re on!” Greg said, snapping his duel disk into place.
Greg – 8000 Zane – 8000
The two duelists drew five cards. Greg got E-Hero Bubbleman, E-Hero Clayman, Miracle Fusion, United We Stand, and Scapegoat.
Zane had a perfect hand: Seal of Orichalcos, Cyber Stein, Cyber Dragon x2 and Polymerization.
“All right Greg!” Zane called out. “I activate the SEAL OF ORICHALCOS! As long as the seal is in play, my monsters get an extra 500 ATK. I then summon Cyber Stein. I pay 5000 LP to summon CYBER END DRAGON! (4500 ATK with Seal)”
Greg – 8000 Zane – 3000
Greg was trembling visibly. He was facing down a Cyber End Dragon. Nothing, except a Fusion, could help him now. (Draw card: Hero Barrier) “I play Miracle Fusion! I remove Clayman and Bubbleman from play to Fusion Summon E-Hero Mudballman! (1500/3000) I place three cards (Scapegoat, United We Stand, and Hero Barrier) face down.”
Zane drew his next card. (Poison of the Old Man) “I play Poison of the Old Man, which increases my LP by 1000. I then play Polymerization. I fuse my two Cyber Dragons together to Fusion Summon CYBER TWIN DRAGON! (3300 ATK with Seal) Cyber End Dragon attacks Mudballman!”
Greg – 6500 Zane – 4000
Greg was starting to sweat as he drew his next card. (E-Hero Burstinatrix) He was facing a Cyber End Dragon AND a Cyber Twin Dragon! “I summon E-Hero Burstinatrix in ATK mode! (1200/800)”
Zane drew his next card. (Poison of the Old Man) “I play Poison of the Old Man, which increases my LP by 1000. CYBER END DRAGON, ATTACK BURSTINATRIX WITH CYBER LIGHTNING!
Greg – 3200 Zane – 5000
Greg drew is next card. (E-Hero Bubbleman) “I discard my draw card to draw a new card.” That new card was Miracle Fusion! “I play Miracle Fusion! I remove Burstinatrix and Bubbleman from play so I can summon E-Hero Steam Healer! (1800/1500) I then activate United We Stand and Scapegoat, which gives Steam Healer and extra 4000 ATK and DEF! (5800/5500) I attack your Cyber Twin Dragon. And thanks to Steam Healer’s ability, I gain 2500 LP!”
Greg – 5700 Zane - 2500
Zane drew his next card. (Cyber Dragon) “I sacrifice Cyber Stein to summon Cyber Dragon. (2100 ATK)”
Greg drew his next card. (Poison of the Old Man) “I play Poison of the Old Man, which increases my LP by 1000.”
Greg – 6700 Zane – 2500
Zane drew his next card. (Mystical Space Typhoon) “I play Mystical Space Typhoon! Say good-bye to your United We Stand! I attack your Steam Healer with Cyber End Dragon!”
Greg – 4000 Zane – 2500
Greg drew his next card. (E-Hero Avian) “I summon E-Hero Avian in ATK mode! (1000/1000)”
Zane drew his next card. (Photon Generator Unit) “I play a card known as Photon Generator Unit! I sacrifice my Cyber Dragon to Special Summon from my deck CYBER LASER DRAGON! (3300 ATK) And thanks to its special ability, Cyber Laser Dragon destroys Avian. CYBER LASER DRAGON, ATTACK GREG’S LP DIRECTLY!”
Greg – 700 Zane – 2500
