I have wasted my time
And have had my efforts be all for naught
But there are no chills running up my spine
Just the dull aching wound from the losing battle I fought
But we’re still friends
And I won’t wait until her resolution bends
I have to get up and go on
Across that frost-covered lawn
Towards the sunny green fields ahead of me
Whatever the consequences may be
I stand up, stretch and yawn
